  • For sure didn't just show up! Ive tried to pay attention to code. Listen for code. Ask about code. Read the code book. Purchased the commentary. Got invested.
    This test is a good test and you shouldn't expect to pass it just because you've been doing plumbing for however long.
    Now I just need a couple hundred hours to be considered a journeyman plumber as a 4th year apprentice.

    Big news man watching you grow for the past year has taught me, a fellow apprentice alot. I have a question what do you think is a better setting to learn in residental or commercial.

    • @JoonRhee
      @JoonRhee  Před 2 lety

      Wow! Really appreciate the love and respect brother! That's a huge compliment. To your question...either. they say a residential guy can go to commercial but it's harder for a commercial guy to go into residential. But honestly, either one. They all kind of have the same principals but on different scales. I'd say get into commercial remodels if you can. It's kinda like a hybrid:) anyway keep me posted and thanks for the post!

      @@moparsrt822 very nice! I actually have a 393 sticker from a foreman who worked out there as a traveler! Very tough. And yes they are the highest paying. If you can get a helper job wherever you can I'd recommended that. Just get on wherever! And you can join the union even after or during! Being a helper is a good resume builder! Any advice on not giving up and quitting an apprenticeship when it gets super hard and you lost motivation to learn the trade even though you know it’s a great opportunity.Everything gets super frustrating, constantly messing up being a 1st year and balancing trying to not fail school and do good and also do good at learning the trade but can’t get things right sometimes trying to make things looks good and just learning getting more difficult .. ?

    • @JoonRhee
      @JoonRhee  Před 2 lety

      Are you a 1st year as you mentioned? The truth is...you should fuck up. Bc it's not fucked up until you can't fix it anymore. My advice, realize you don't know this trade. I don't know this trade as a 4th year. But I've learned a lot and know some things now. I'd say, give yourself time. But I mean if your frustrated that's a good sign you want to learn. Just let yourself be where you are and try to just learn what you can on where you are at. Watch other people. Ask to try something. Go slow. Ask for advice if you don't know what to do next. I'd say, slow down brother. You can't learn in all in a day. But you can learn one thing per day!) Thanks for the question. Super good one. Honest. Follow up with me too! I wanna hear more

    Hows your body feel doing plumbing jobs? Im interested in the trade but heard horror stories how it broke peoples backs.

    • @JoonRhee
      @JoonRhee  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'll be straight up. My dad always kept in shape and that kind of inspired me to stay in shape most of my life. Do you need to be in shape for this job? I recommend it. Are there proper ways to do things? Yes, always. Most of the injuries that the old timers talk about are preventative. I never let any old guy in the trade. Tell me how to use my body because I knew it was best. Is it harder on the body? Sure, it will take a toll on you. Sure, but it's manageable and it won't take you out of the game. But if you don't take care of your body now, it's for sure going to ruin your body even more. That's really all I can say. Good question, thanks for asking

    • @JoonRhee
      @JoonRhee  Před 8 měsíci

      Nope! Nothing. Only thing I did was roof repairs and a few weeks helping a friend out with wood floors..but that was it homie. Zero plumbing and it's preferred that way to be honest

    Hi! I am here in behalf of my brother that wants to go to plumbing school -- is there a way we can meet via Zoom? I have no clue on where/how he can enroll. Currently, he is working for a plumbing company and so far he really enjoys it!

      @JoonRhee  Před rokem +1

      Awesome! Glad he is liking it! I appreciate you asking the question. I don't have a zoom but you can email me! I have my email on my CZcams or website at Joonrhee.net. so the school I go to is not a trade school. It's put on by the union itself. And if he is non union they usually have some type of program but not all of them. So poke around my videos and see if you can't get some answers! If not we can go from there!
