I'd suggest the main advantage of this blaster, for cosplayers, is that they'd be more enthusiastic about doing their own custom repainting. Even if the foam doesn't take to paint as well, you're less likely to feel like you're ruining the toy by repainting.
The limited edition's paintjob is just confusing to me: You pay axtra so they paint it in a more elaborate way that has nothing in common with the original thing. So cosplayers or larpers will need to repaint it anyways.
As a cosplayer myself (and actually cosplaying as mando) this thing is a really great base. But what I would do is try to remove the tuning fork part with a 3d printed part and probably lengthen the stock but other then that really great base
I always feel awful painting a limited edition item even if it's for cosplay, it's nice to have an alternative to actually carry around the con in the right colors. Keep the pretty original sitting on the shelf.
Cosplay prop guy here. The less expensive version is what I would go with if I was going to use this for that purpose. For painting, undercoating with black plasti-dip will solve the foam rubber durability issue. The paint application on the more expensive model isn't great for cosplay purposes, so if you are going to repaint it anyway, you might as well spend less money. That said, for an adult, this is a bit undersized, so I would recommend this for younger, or rather, smaller cosplayers. Someone who is average size for an adult is possibly better off scratch-building one via 3d printing or traditional build methods. That said, this one has a number of lessons to teach. if you want your scratch build to have the same breach-loading mechanism, you can copy the design of the internals for an identical effect.
@@ultimateaquiles the Nerf version is 1.27 meters (50.25 inches) from stock to bayonet. The prop used in Mandalorian is 1.73 meters (68 inches) meaning that the Nerf version is slightly less than 75% the size of the actual prop. A prop that's that far out of proportion will look weird in a cosplay.

The 2 things I like about this is a unique loading mech and the idea that with 60 ish fps through 3 ft of barrel, what happens if you chop the barrel off?
I got the limited edition at a price of 80 €. I was fine with that. Did a little bit of shooting.
