  • Hi everyone! In this video, I am going over some simple, beginner friendly floral cookies you can make using STIFF royal icing.
When making florals, you want to ,make sure you use STIFF royal icing to achieve crisper edges, and so that the flowers hold their shape.
To make these simple flowers, I used:
    -open star tip
    -closed star tip
    -104 petal tip
    -Curved petal tip
For the rosettes, you want to start in the center of the cookie and work your way around until covering the surface of the cookie. When you get to the end, don’t pull the piping bag straight up, instead release pressure as your getting towards the end and pull to the side. Clean up the edge or end point if needed with a scribe.
Next, when using petal tips, it is best to always hold the narrow end of the tip upwards and the wider end touching the surface of the cookie. This will achieve a more realistic flower/petals.
For the daisy, I used a petal tip but in this case, I use the tip with the narrow end touching the base of the cookie and the wider upwards to give a more rounded edge for our daisy.
To achieve 2 toned flowers, you add two icing colors into a piping bag, one color on opposite sides from each other. You can do this technique with any tip. In this specific video, I show this using the 104 petal tip. For this example, I wanted to have the yellow color in the inner part of the flower, so I made sure I aligned the icing bag with the side that had the yellow icing to the wide end of the petal tip and the white icing aligned to the narrow end of the tip. This would give my flower more dimension creating a yellow hue in the inside of the flower and the white on the outer edge of the petals.
I hope you try making these cute & simple flowers. Don’t be afraid to have fun, test out different tips, and color combinations.
If you have any questions, leave them in the comment section and I will be happy to answer them.

Nice job! I just ran across this channel and subscribed; keep this channel going. Your explanations are phenomenal! QUESTION- where did you find the little “scoop” the small device you used to put on the pearls? Do you know what it’s called?

When you say have the wife end face the cookie, is it the the end of the tip? Hope that makes sense

Hi, so the petal tip has a wide end and a narrow end. For most of the flowers I made in this video, I used the wider end of the tip touching the base of the cookie and the narrow part up. This makes crisper more defined petals. I hope this answers your question.

Hi, is the icing soft to bite using such stiff icing?? I don't want it to crust too hard to where it's unpleasant to eat.

Hi, my icing recipe dries hard but not rock hard, it has a soft bite to it . I use a couple of tablespoons of corn syrup in my icing which is what helps give the icing a softer bite.

I think you could have more subscribers or views if you would show actually flooding a cookie and showing it is not running over the edge. Would love to see more videos.
