Matthew was the only one from the cast who was in every script meeting, he wrote the Best jokes ... Not only for himself and his impro was always on time. I think he's some kind of genius. I think he wrote a lot of scripts. I saw his 'End of Longing' in London. I loved it.

Fun fact: Matthew perry was the only actor that was able to write lines for his character. Reason being that during the first season he actually improvised a lot of his funny lines. The writers were going to ask him to stop, but the audience reaction was so good they allowed him to write his own lines.

In "Studio 60" Matthew repeats the same comic formula of the answer machine. In that show Matthew announces: "Danny and Jordan are engaged!". Another person asked: "are they getting married?" and Matthew's character replies, "No, they're engaged in conversation...". So probably he must be responsible for that joke.

I have been watching interviews of Matthew recently and he seems so sad. He was a comedic genius on Friends. He was my favorite. I am so sorry he went through that nasty addiction but he just lost that spark.
He's grown as a person and struggled a lot with substance abuse. He's been sober for a while now but he still has to pay for the physical consequences of addiction. He's a witty comedic genius who has perfect timing and even though he struggled for so long and so hard, his character still continued to bring in lots of laughs, most of the time due to him improvising. He's now honest about his past addictions and struggles and had turned his house into a place for men with substance abuse problems for a while... and he still is very funny and sharp, just not as energetic or dramatic, understandably. I still respect him a lot because he's the one who brought Chandler to life.
