- Rock star Frankie Banali is the drummer for Quiet Riot. He spoke to Fox 5's Steve Lacy about the many ups and downs of his long career, his family, and his friendship with the late QR frontman Kevin DuBrow -- topics that play out in the documentary "Quiet Riot: Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back," directed by Regina Russell.
The Queens native has lived in Los Angeles for 40 years, but says that he gets back in the New York groove very easily and quickly when he comes to visit.

RIP Frankie. Thanks for the music.
The interviewer did an outstanding job......he knows of what he speaks!
I was gonna say the same. we need more journalists that do their homework before interviews. Maybe journalism isn't completely dead.
👍
He was genuinely interested, and seemed like a real fan.
Frankie Banali is one of the nicest, most humble and down to earth musicians I have ever met. I shook hands with him and got an autograph from the whole band about 15 years ago in a small venue outside Detroit. All of them were great, but Frankie was especially nice, and thanked me for coming to the show, and didn't mind talking to the fans for quite a while.
Rock in Peace Frankie. I’m positive that you and Kevin are sharing a laugh and a drink right now.
Real sad that we are slowly losing all the best Rockers to ever live ! The 80's were the Best. R.I.P. Frankie !
Great drummer and even better person.
Tom Smith I meet him he is an awesome person, he went out of his way to sign a drum head for me. Love Frankie 🤘🤘
Absolutely Tom..
Frankie's drumming on WASP Crimson Idol is fucking unbelievable. He never stops The guys a beast on that album.
timm441 hell yeah. But Frankie did some awesome drum work for W.A.S.P. on many other albums too. I wish I could find anything where he talks about working with W.A.S.P. and what those experiences were like dealing with Blackie.
Rest in peace Frankie Banali
Very impressed with Steve Lacy on this interview. Probably one of the best interviews I have heard. He was very well prepared and knew the history and what he was asking. Hope to see him move onto greater things in the entertainment industry. Frankie was always open and forthcoming and willing to be truthful with his feelings and thoughts. RIP to one of Rock's best drummers and human beings!
Being on the West coast, I've never heard of this guy, but I totally agree. He seemed very well prepared or an actual fan!
Amen to that brother. R.i.p Franky
Slowly loosing our Founding Fathers of Metal. The Mystery of Life🔥
this interview was excellent & the interviewer was very sympathetic to the life after of Quiet Riot after Kevin Dubrow....RIP Kevin & Frankie ...together again..
got to meet Frankie ages ago...I was a super shy kid, not far removed from high school age at the time.. he was about as genuine and kind of a soul as you could have ever met.Good bless and keep you mate, rest in peace.
I love the band Quiet Riot. RIP Kevin Dubrow.
I miss him so much.
RIP Frankie now too
RIP Frankie, you'll live in our hearts
Quiet Riot is one of my favorite bands. Love Metal Health and Condition Critical.
A complete gentleman. And a powerhouse drummer. Powerful.

ive loved this guy since the early days of quiet riot to this day where the battlefield is now, cancer- im praying for his quick recovery
Things not looking good now.
@@martymartin2894 From the sounds of it, it is. I've heard some positive things. But there is a long road to total recovery.

im late in responding however appreciate your input . sad indeed
I was at the US Festival Memorial Day weekend 1983. I remember them and they did start at 11:30. It was supposed to be Joe Walsh instead of QR. There was 400,000 people. I was 18 years old and drove 8 hours from N. California. I've seen him many times. Great guy! R.I.P.
LOVE Frankie's drumming..................!!~
Frankie, is anazing. I just met him last night in Pinellas Park, Florida. They put on an awesome show and then Frankie came out and spent nearly 1 hour meeting and greeting fans and I got a picture with him.
Ocala's Dirty Laundry I’m from Queens too . He lost his accent. I’m happy he moved forward with Durbin. He is a good singer. Not Kevin but he still does a good job
As a drummer, I was very bummed, to say the least, hearing of his passing. Gigging the L.A. scene around the same time I was a longtime fan. Obviously his work with Quiet Riot is always first but man I really loved his playing with WASP too!
Poor guy lost his mom to.then we kiss him. R.i.p Frankie.
RIP Frankie you were an awesome musician!! Never forget.
If I close my eyes I can hear Paul Stanley talking. Similar voices
not
I agree. I thought the same thing. East coast accent too.
I was just thinking the same thing. Exactly right!

R.I.P. Frankie, drummer extraordinaire. We will never forget you!
Saw Quiet Riot with Randy at the Starwood. Opening act was Dokken with Bobby Blotzer & Juan Croucier of RATT playing with Don before George. Great show 2 sets.
R.I.P. Frankie!! Who do all of the great rock/metal drummers die early? Banali? Moon? Carr? Bonham? It's a crying shame. Peace!
You are an inspiration. Thank you so much , Most can't and try , it's almost like being a magician . Much respect for you always .

Great Interview..
Saw that documentary and it was really good and touching. Sad how Kevin passed at home and supposedly was clean. Frankie was a great drummer and a rock star no doubt.
That's soo awesome I'm a few miles away from Ny. Wish I could have seen him! Can't wait for the Documentary.

RIP Frankie good guy and great drummer. Loved QR and your work with Mr. JIMMY band.
I love 70s music but the music that came out in 1983/1984 is forever etched in my mind. Quiet Riot, Ratt, Twisted Sister, 1984 by Van Halen, just unreal.
Rest In Peace, Frankie.
Such an amazing Drummer and a Beautiful Person!
"bands are not a corporate thing"...exactly...so accurate
Banali is a class act

Frankie was not the original drummer. He was on Metal Health to the present. They did two albums prior to Metal Health, which Frankie did not perform on.
RIP Frankie!!! 😢

RIP frankie..The coolest thing in any band is obviously the musicians..Unfortunately so many who think they are cool are truly not..Frankie seemed so damn genuine, down to earth and approach able..Truly will be missed
Cool dude---we are losing the greats...RIP Frankie Banali-1951-2020
WOW! I didn't know he recently died too! Damn, one of those eighties bands that was the soundtrack of my teenage years. Metal Health was huge in 1982-1983 they were one of the biggest and earliest bands to explode!
