Jess, what I have noticed is that using Regular Microfiber towels on glass WILL leave tiny fibers behind ~ So what I do is similar to your process but i do a quick final spray and wipe with a Dedicated Glass Micro fiber towel after ~ that way it picks up the little fibers left over. Sometime you can only see them when the sun hits the glass.
Thank you! I do have glass towels but those were leaving even more fibers behind than the microfiber, hence why I stopped using them. Just gotta buy new ones again!
15 years of detailing and never once have I thought about pretreating the windows with a degreaser! Def will be trying this! Thank you!
It makes such a difference! And I’m sure a bunch of other comments will come in about what other detailers use as a “pretreatment” so keep your eyes peeled for their suggestions too, they’re always good!
For the past six years, I’ve been using 3-D glass cleaner. It is the best thing I ever used for my customers 100%.
Good to know! I’m not committed to any one cleaner right now so I always love the suggestions to try new things when I run out. Thanks!
I like to do my windshield facing the sun. If I miss something it will stand out for sure.
Agree! I find too, once I’ve washed the exterior, and look from the outside in, any missed spots become nice and obvious!
Great video...Scott from Dallas Paint and Auto Detailing once said...before using a glass cleaner you need to clean the windows first...and he was right...
nice technique, it seems like every one finds what works best for them. its always good to see a different approach. I hate doing the windows.
For sure! I don’t think there’s any one way to do anything, it’s whatever works best for everyone and gets the client the results!
Those generic microfiber towels are not the best for windows. Use glass-specific towels. Some really good ones are the Griot's Garage 55583 PFM Crinkle Glass Towels, the AutoFiber Double Glass FlipWaffle & Twist Microfiber Window Towels, & the E-Cloth Glassware Drying & Polishing Towels. The method is key: always use good “glass specific” towels & this technique & you can buy the cheapest glass cleaner. Use one towel for the “wet/clean” process, & the second for the “wipe dry/remove residue” process. With this technique & proper glass towels, you can use the cheapest glass cleaner & always have clean, streak-free glass. Remember - this won’t work unless you use glass-specific towels. Thanks for the video !
Hiya from UK. As a fellow youtube detailing reviewer, loving your work. And your correct, no shortcuts on windows.
Heeyy! Thanks so much!
Adams Brilliant Glaze on interior glass seems to work very well also. I saw another youtube detailer use it with great success so i just got some a few days ago. I'll see how it did tomorrow on my way to washing 4 cars. Always the morning sun up my driveway is the make it or break it tell all for confirmation of proper windshield cleaning. Windshields are my nemesis and i probably clean 20 or so every week 😅 thanks for the degreaser tip. I also have good luck with a soaked and wrung out low gsm mf towel with or without any rinseless product, with a fresh mf towel to buff. Older well used waffle towel like the water magnet is my preferred final buffer
Good to know! I just started using ONR on exterior windows and it’s been working good!
@DetailWithJess onr is good, but I think p&s absolute rinseless and DIY Detail Rinseless is actually better 👌
Never in 5 years of detailing did I ever consider pretreating the windows. Thanks for sharing that tip
We’re all always learning something new 😉
Great job as always, keep it up 👊🏻👊🏻👍.
Thank you!!!
Great video very helpful …..I hope your enjoying the weather out there
Thank you!
Wen the inside heat up the plastics, leather, gives off gases that say on the inside glass, try the clean reach tool, frank in Oswego, ill
I remember watching pan the organizers video on what settings you need on washer for microfiber towels. How do you wash them?
I actually wash them by hand in a hand washing machine 😆 Off-the-grid life lol So I’m no use when it comes to how to wash in a machine at the moment
I use a wet rag that was soaked in optimum no rinse to get that layer of film that is on the glass if they havent been washed in a while, followed by stoners glass cleaner, seems to be the eesiest method to avoid streaking
That works too! 😀
What do you think about Invisible Glass?
I haven’t used it but I have heard a lot of other people liking it!
I've tried using Super Clean and several waffle weave towels. Sprayway has been in the arsenal since the 80's.
I've been using 50/50 Alcohol/Distilled water a lot with great results.
Thank You for sharing this with us.
Are those Costco/Kirkland yellow mf towels?
Awesome! I was using 50/50 IPA as well for a bit too. I didn’t notice any major difference, personally, and got tired of having another product to mix so I just stuck with the Sprayway 😂 That’s just me though! Yes, they are, from Costco or Amazon.
@@DetailWithJess I've used Sprayway since the late 80's. My Sister loves it and won't use anything else! I like 50/50 alcohol.
Can you make the pretreatment stage a normal part of your detailing process with customers you see regularly?
With regular clients, it shouldn’t be necessary unless they are smoker’s or in a super dusty environment. But if you clean the windows on a regular basis, they should come pretty clean and streak-free with a couple passes with a glass cleaner.
@@DetailWithJess Thank you so much! That was very helpful👍I’m in the beginning phases of my business and just trying to collect as much info as I can.
@@DetailWithJess Hi Jess! I have another question about window cleaning: can I use all 8 sides of the towel if I fold it up?
