Jack was on the way to the Cannes film Festival so they coaks him into stopping by England to do Tommy. It was supposed to Christopher Lee who played Dracula often. The mom was nominated for an Oscar for this!

what a film!! mindblowing and overwhelmingly creative!! There isn't that much inventiveness in today's films!! That's why you should watch more old films, films were exciting, creative and innovative... just like "Tommy"🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎸🎸🎸🎸

No comments?? I randomly saw the thumbnail for this, so I had to watch. I saw this movie when I was 7, in 1979. They showed it at a local college my sister went to. So she took me having no clue what the movie was about...lol...Ann Margret played the mother and she was definitely a big star! Oliver Reed played the step father. He too was a very big actor. Uncle Ernie was the drummer Keith Moon aka Moon the Loon because of his rock star craziness. You should Google some of the shit he did when touring...The scence with Marilyn Monroe featured guitar legend Eric Clapton. The Wall was based on some factual stuff- Pink was based on their original singer Sid Barrett and a little bit of bass player Roger Waters life. Tommy was Pete Townshend's creation. So the Acid Queen scene, Marilyn Monroe scence and Jack Nicholson scene were all trying to help Tommy regain his sight, hearing and speech, which was all in his head. Not sure if you caught that...I could ramble on, but I won't...lol...I didn't see The Wall until I was 14, so I understood that movie a little better. Obviously I watched Tommy again when I was older, so I understood that movie much better than when I was 7...lol...

thanks for commenting. That's a really cool story about how you first saw Tommy with your sister when you were 7 years old. Thanks for watching.

Quadrophenia was not as popular of a movie as Tommy was. It starred Sting and was about rival teens- the Mods vs. the Rockers...

Not sure if this was clear, but the stepfather was bad because he killed Tommy's father (that was what Tommy saw in the bedroom that traumatized him). Everyone thought he had died in the war, but he had actually survived. He came home, saw the mom and the stepfather in the bedroom, got mad, and the stepfather killed him.
"What about the boy, he saw it all.
You didn't hear it You didn't see it
You won't say nothing to no-one
    Never in your life
    You never heard it
Oh, how absurd it all seems
    Without any proof"
I hate to say it because I'm a ridiculously huge Who fan, but I don't like Tommy the movie or Tommy the album. But my absolute favorite Who is the live Tommy tour in 1969/70. It's a whole different experience. If you want to see any of it you should check out their performance at the Isle of Wight where they played in front of 600,000 people. It's peak the Who. Quadrophenia the movie is more a regular story but it doesn't focus as much on the music as I would have liked.

A good one song performance from the tour is Amazing Journey/Sparks Live in London (12/14/69)

I think it's more like Tommy walked in on his mom and her new boyfriend in bed and that traumatized him. Kind of an oedipal thing, the man replacing him, also holds true because Roger Daltry and Ann-Margret were about the same age IRL. Tommy's dad was already dead, this was just how Tommy's mind perceived it.
