Idk why people say he had no feeling in his acting. He shows so much emotion in this. The only reason was awkward in attack of the clones was because he was isolated for years.

Plus he is conlifcted character, thats why everytime he do something it feels awkward because he is always thinking. Plus the jedi master always remind him not to act on his emotions. I think hayden's acting is perfect. He seems lost, confused, awkward. . but turns out to be a powerful sith lord.

I’m sorry, but the people who blame Hayden for “horrible acting” are clearly blind. The scene where he stares at the sunset as Palpatine’s words fill his mind is one of the strongest I’ve ever seen. You can see every thought and emotion flash across his face, you can see his thought process change as he starts to tear up. There’s no guidance, no stupid script to mess him up, just Hayden, and it’s fucking fantastic

I wouldn't call him horrible but he's average. Especially when you compare him to actors for the OT trio, Palpatine, Kylo and young Han.
Body language was better in ROTS but I don't like his dialogue delivery.

I always thought that if they just cut out the NOOOOO Vader screams, that scene would not just be great, but a master piece. Having lost everything, Vader roars into the endless void, his words soundless, has his heart burns eternal, and the void, smiles.
I was 15 when this came out, and I remember going to see this in the theater with my mom and sister, my sister and I had the biggest crush on Hayden Christensen, when he came on screen, our eyes lit up lol

@@pumpkinbagelpatch eh. the clone wars anakin nails the good guy charisma of anakin but is really corny in dark moments. Especially when corrupted by the son and the visions of the future it’s not believable. Anakin needs perfect balance of darkness and evil and charismatic and likable.

0:55 acting was on point to show that inner confliction in hindsight. That whole scene is genius. One Jedi (blue) saber, one sith (red) saber crossing to make a guillotine to represent that inner confliction. Palpatine assures Anakin that Dooku was "too dangerous to be kept alive." Notice this is the same thing that Windu tries to convince Anakin of about Palpatine before Anakin slices Mace's arm off. Anakin showed susceptibility to the dark side well before order 66. A lot of fans say that the Jedi order was too strict, yet, these susceptibilities only showed when he turned his back on it. Including on Tatooine with the defenseless kids of the sand people.

@@mkon29 I'm glad you, like me, enjoyed the symbolism. In many ways, I think the prequels are littered with moments that are deeper than they seem at first glance. One of my personal favorites that most people don't seem to catch is how Anakin (in The Phantom Menace) turns off the autopilot in the N1 Starfighter before destroying the droid control ship. This is a direct parallel to Luke turning off his targeting computer before destroying the death star. Another parallel I loved was Padmé stating "there's good in him" after child birth (regarding Anakin); very similar to her son Luke's powerful line "I know there's good in you."
Wau. That lightsaber representation of his inner conflict ... cool that you noticed. Never realized it before. I too noticed that Windu uses the same words as Palpatine. Which is kind of terrifying as it is, because Windu was a Jedi master and should not execute anybody, let alone without a trial. And indeed at the beginning of the scene, before Anakin arrives, Windu says to Palpatine "you are going to be arrested". why did Windu change his mind? Bit of confusion here.
When it comes to Anakin's susceptibility to the dark side: well he was conflicted the whole time, that is for sure. But in that particular scene, it is very obvious how Palpatine manipulated him to be susceptible this much. He was encouraging him to follow the dark side, play on his vanity and arrogance but most importantly he promised Anakin that he would tell him how to save Padme. Palpatine made himself seemingly indispensable for Anakin (Anakin screams "I need him" (to save Padme). That is why Anakin chooses to kill Windu. And then - Palpatine, now as Sidious, tells him that, in fact, he doesn't have the power to save Padme. But it is too late. Anakin becomes Vader... This scene (and Anakin's story)really reminds me of theatre tragedies of old.
@@ludmilachaberova7177 Windu was going to arrest him before he started using the force lightning; I think that changed his position on things. Also, one more thing worth mentioning, is that Windu deciding to kill Palpatine kind of proved the hypocrisy of the Jedi, and showed how they could bend the rules to their liking if they saw fit

It’s honestly a shame he got so much hate for his acting. I thought he did amazing. His crying at the sunset gave me absolute chills, When he was turning cold with his wife that was amazing, He just put so much emotion and Tone into this movie. The only reason he was a little emotionless in the first one with him was simply because he was a teenager in that movie, and him and Natalie were trying to become teens. Let’s admit, we were all mostly awkward as teenagers. Anyway, I just gotta say, I hope he comes back to Star Wars for this rumored obi wan show.
And so he shall. Let's just hope the writers respect the prequels enough to portray anakin the same way george did rather than make him some bland heroic figure like filoni did in the clone wars.

There was many reasons
Yes the point is, there was never a power. Palpatine just knew Anakin was in love with Padme and was afraid she’d die in childbirth…he was manipulating Anakin. Why Vader didn’t just leave once that became clear in her death? Who knows but probably because he was overcome with a desire for revenge for what Obi wan did to him, and also blamed Padme on him as well…since he knew Obi wan had told her of his turn.
Now, obviously Disney has since changed things-including the discovery of how to cheat death…but when ROTS was written Palpatine was only half truthful in his story to Anakin. Palpatine’s master is Pleguis who he mentions in the story…and he was trying to learn a way to cheat death, but during his studying he never realized his apprentice, Palpatine would kill him. So ironically, he was killed by someone right under his nose, and wasn’t even able to save himself from death.

You can see the hate take over when Obi Wan cuts his legs off his eyes go from the normal color to full sith mode you can see all innocence and any hope of saving him and bringing him back to the light side of the force leave him that very moment very sad. 11:48 nearly brings me to tears so powerful of a moment in cinematic history.

One thing about Hayden…he is very good at emoting. That’s a skill that shows a solid foundation in acting, to be able to convey an emotion without expressing one word is a very strong skill.
@5:18 is a great example of Hayden showing every emotion of Anakin, he’s processing the fact that he’s just learned you could “save someone from dying,” he’s feeling relief, confusion, trepidation, excitement, and conflicted all at once.

I feel like Anakin Everyday....
I really loved Hayden as Anakin. Ngl there were moments where his acting was kinda bad and I was actually laughing at the ridiculousness of the lines and the way he delivered them, but there's no doubt he did a great job all in all.
He nailed some of the scenes and you could really sympathise with Anakin and feel his emotions.
I think he captured the light and the dark side of the character perfectly.
