      600+400(5) = 2600 , then By = 2600 / 10 = 260

    It should be 600lb x 15 ft, correct for the moment by the 600lb at point A

      Since the body has to be in equilibrium, forces have to oppose others. In this case, the applied force determined the direction of Ax and Ay.

      You have to neglect the thickness of the beam, which means the perpendicular distance from your x-component of your force to the center will be 0.

      Since the support is hinged\pinned the moment about x is not restrained. Only x and y directions are restrained.
