We are extremely disappointed with the inadequate response from CenterPoint. It's important to clarify that our dissatisfaction is not directed at the hardworking employees in the field who are doing their best to address the situation. Rather, it is concerning the decision-makers whose lack of concern is evident. It's crucial to emphasize that decisions made during these critical events have real consequences, and when lives are lost due to these decisions, those responsible should be held accountable both criminally and civilly.

The map Center Point Energy released last night has bad data. It shows energized lines where there is still no power and lines in the queue to be repaired where there is already power. I feel the Company is misleading the public, which could do further harm, all in an effort to put any information out to save face. They should pull this map and not mislead the public. What if a person uses the little bit of gas they have to get home because it appears they have power and when they get there they have no power and no way to refuel to leave again.

Let's make sure the utility companies have an incentive here and "skin in the game". I propose a new regulation by the Public Utilities Commission of Texas : any home which experiences a power outage due to a forecasted weather event will receive one week of power FREE for every day of their power outage beginning on the second day of the outage. Beginning on the sixth day that home will receive one *month* of power FREE per day of their outage.
This might not speed up recovery efforts but it would ensure the general public that the utility companies have every incentive to be prepared in advance and to work as quickly as possible, and it would directly compensate those homes which experience power outages lasting more than 24 hours.

I've never understood why they insist on running power lines overhead. Large cities like new York have theirs, underground. Not saying that would prevent an outage. But it would sure help lessen the damage.

We get updates and numbers of outages, places and dates and excuses. We get offered cooling shelters, But no one tells us WHY we are not being helped. Why the trucks make an appearance but do nothing, then leave to go park somewhere and "wait for orders". It is criminal and cold blooded. Bottom line, Who is responsible for this repeated catastrophy? Why are we paying high electric bills and getting less than poor service when we NEED it.

One thing I can't believe nobody mentioned is a wet shirt. The water evaporating from the fabric acts just like an air conditioner. It works so well you always know when the fabric has dried out because you suddenly feel much hotter! Of course it works best in circulating air. Wet t-shirt in an outdoor shady area will help you stay cool as a cucumber.

CenterPoint is a monoply and their behavior needs to be addressed. Their lack of maintenance adds to outages. Our cables are buried so no wind - why is electricity out??? I think CP cuts users so the numbers of users who have real problems are eschewed. I have requested trees to be trimmed in right-of-right - these trees have not been trimmed in over 8 years. At that time they left cut limbs. I requested trimming in April to be done before first storm. Nothing yet!!!

Major electrical outages like this will continue to be an issue in Texas during seasons of extreme temperatures. Hundreds of millions of dollars in produce gone to waste. Thousands of lives at stake due to medical equipment at home failing, or hospitals losing power when back up generators fail after a few days. They need to advise a plan to meet the insane increase in use of electricity in the state. Millions of people using air conditioners more often due to continual record numbers of heat during the summer. You can't just warn people about usage. You either need to enforce it (not to extreme levels like California's previous water restrictions) or create a new technology/grid that can sustain such demands.

Every one should own a 2000 watt generator, cord , 5000 btu ac. Those guys are heroes. Your own fault if u didn’t have those 3 things. And know this thank goodness bucees gave generators. It should be mandatory for all new gas stations to have em and we need all gas stations to upgrade with generators. Thank the lord beaver out gen’s on his stores. They deserve a medal!!!!
