Well, my stuff was more like swamp stomping,and mud slugging, but I had some fun.
Wow ! So many browns at one place. 7 species proves that creek was really diverse. I liked the fact that you took a moment to converse with those young men. Seems like a lot of videographers shun using footage of others of the brotherhood. John, you have traveled so much, to so many places that are so beautifully made by GOD and captured the images to share with all of us. For that I truly thank you. Ha ha!!! Has it been two years since I told you about this place? LOL!!! I told you this little greenery was pretty hot. That whole area is really good. I wasn't sure how it would be as we have had a drought in the western part of the state affecting that area. I'm glad you finally got around to going to this place. To be honest, I had not remembered that I told you about this one until you told me the other day. Don't forget about the Rivanna River Greenery in Charlottesville, I sent that to you as well. I'll email you the link for the trail info on that one. I have a few more places for you to consider so I'll be in touch. Nice video John, glad to see I didn't point you to a dead end with no fish. If thats the South River in Waynesboro which i think it is that would explain the amount if Trout u caught. Local clubs stock that periodically thru the year.

Welcome to my backyard! They've done a pile of work to the river over the last several years to try to improve the trout fishing and habitat. Just pulled a pile of fallfish out of there this morning, but the water level is a lot lower than normal. There are some football smallies in there if you hit the right spots...

Next time you run the 81 check out the New River Greenway, Big river and big fish. However the stream you were on for this video is where I caught my PB rainbow trout 6.9lbs. You can't go wrong at any stop. Very accessible with tons of places to put in and take out. Around Radford or down towards Independence are good places to start! Not that bad of a drive either. Let me know if I can help out. Stay safe and God bless
A lot of those look like hatchery brown/rainbow hybrids. Next time you’re in Virginia try the Smith river from Philpott Dam thru Bassett. There are 20+” trout in there and many are holdovers so they lose that washed out hatchery color.

That water looks really familiar. I grew up in a small city with a river going through it, and fished it heavily before moving away 25 years ago. The greenway wasn't there yet, and there were a handful of us who fished it regularly. If that's the same place, thanks for keeping quiet about the name of it.

@@theone031 plenty of people enjoy it. But it's a small fishery, with easy access thanks to the greenway. Overfishing is a concern. It wouldn't be hard to figure out where it is by doing some online sleuthing. No need to announce the location here.

That was a nice chub. I usually get them on moving lures like small cranks and rooster tails! They don't much mess with trout magnets

I tell you we get those chubs up in Indiana. Definitely go a pound and better. Seem to Group A lot like trout. When you catch one you usually catch Several. And they will bite on anything. Even bare hook. Great adventure!

I'm pretty sure that is a Mink. I have seen one running along the shore just like that. I thought i saw one swimming across the lake last night but didn't really get a good view. Nice place to fish!

Used to be a lot more rockbass and under 11 inch smallies in there 20 years ago. They look to be overstocking the trout which is hurting the native population.
