Those White Bass are beautiful!! Unfortunately they aren't as widespread as Large and Smallmouth.

I thought that 16 ounces equals one pound. So your fish weighed 5 pounds and 5 ounces which is not one ounce from being a half a pound. Still a great catch but not a 5 and one half pound fish.

Some tips for Michigan. For largemouth, fish toward evening in about three or so feet of water around reed beds or lily pads or drop off with structure. For bluegill, fish drop offs in spring around 10 pm on the surface with black poppers or in September when the air is cool but the water still warm in about 12 feet of water.
