As a violinist, they didn’t sound nearly as bad as I expected. Like they actually WORKED, which was fairly surprising for the round wound
As someone who is NOT a violinist, the flat guitar strings sound almost identical to me, just a little bit off
And what surprised me even more is the fact that they work even though they're *steel strings,* not classical guitar nylon strings.

I could see them working in certain songs. I thought the extra harmonics sounded good on Thunderstruck. I'd love to hear the round strings playing backup harmony to the violin.
I regretfully had to replace one of my violin strings with a guitar string since I was dirt poor when learning the violin (middle school).... at that time I played pretty well, although soon I had to change back to normal violin strings since I had to constantly tune my instrument too often then needed (tuning onstage).

It's just society (especially with modern communication technology) makes it easier to focus on the negative and desensitize us to the beauty in everything. But the beauty is there, just harder to see, and if you don't train yourself to find it, despair and depression is inevitable.
I'm so glad Mattias Krantz's unimaginable effort has inspired musicians to explore what we'd never dare to try otherwise

1:09 Strings for Bowed Instruments are Flatwound, while most of the time Strings for Fretted Instruments are Round Wound. It's not just Classical players who use Flatwounds, Jazz players do it too.

Loving the content. My brother is 21 he plays the violin he started when he was 3 just the same as you and he loves your content he lives in America San Francisco but we are originally from pakistan so he loves your content and so he told me to watch your channel and i did and honestly i love it the mix of game music with violin is just top notch. Also i do have a really big interest in music but not particularly violin and i play a lot of games so love your content and much love from pakistan. And you should wear safety helmet or goggles save those eyes.

@@ILikeBirds Oscar Stern is the name. I got a Yinfente 5 String Electric Cello and a set of Daddario Helicore Cello Strings with a High E at medium tension with geared machine heads work.

The flat guitar string actually sounds quite good. They quite work and gives an interesting sound.
I use "elixir" for my violin's E-string.
A 7 String Fretted Viper Violin from wood violins really rocks along with a handy method for playing it

Me as a violin player watching him try to cut the violin strings knowing full well he could just unwind them: 👁👄👁
I make my own custom fiddles and I’m still looking for the perfect affordable set of strings for them. I’ve found that Cretan lyra strings are perfect, as they’re similar to violin strings but really sturdy and slightly longer, so I can use my preferred 20” scale length. But after I cleaned out Amazon they are difficult to find and cost 3x as much. I previously tried cello strings but I would use only the two high strings plus an E from a 5-string set. This string alone is upwards of $20 and cello strings come with their own issues. I could just build shorter instruments and use cheap generic viola strings but I feel best about the longer scale length.
I’ll have to check out the flatwound guitar strings now after seeing a violinist actually use them on a violin.

I had broken my E string and yes I only had a E guitar string so I put that one my violin and it surprisingly worked! lol but it messed up my bridge my digging into it soooo much that it was starting to squeak and I had to get a new bridge 😭

I play the violin in my schools orcastra and i just want to say you are my favorite youtuber!
Yes I did this.... I once broke the e string of my cousin's violin while tunning.... I got anxious on how to fix it because I'm sure she'll get mad.... However, I can't buy a new set of string since it is lockdown and it woud take time to order online.... So I replace the violin string with a guitar string.... since I only own a guitar... It was not noticeable since she's a beginner in violin and she barely touch it... but my conscience is eating me😂😂😂 I know someday I'll replace it with the real one...
