That looks like a car a neighbor of my Grandparents had when I was growing up. I would see that car parked in their driveway every time we would go visit. Great job, really takes me back!!!
Beautiful rebuild. Great addition to anyone’s collection. A lot of work went into it for this clean example. Painting parts on different days could be different results with the same paint
Excellent Falcon!. The detail of the difference in tone between the hood and the rest of the body is curious!!. Good photos of the process at the end. Thanks Shawn for sharing. Greetings!!.
Well Shawn, you probably sprayed the hood on a Thursday. Everyone knows paint sprays lighter on Tuesday's. This is a cool little build. Love those Falcon's.
That's a cool little Falcon! My old boss used to drag race a red 64 Falcon with a Ford 300 six. It'd out run 5.0 mustangs! Awesome job! Happy New Year!
Great job Shawn... She looks awesome on the shelf.. Lots of great costume work That is the way I build my kits. That kit is a young-en compared to me... 🎆 Happy New Year! 🎆 LLAP 🖖 You intro get's me every time... 😁
Nice job on your Falcon. It came out really nice. Awesome job with all of the underhood details . I agree with you about the hood. Different plastic affected the color.
Looks fantastic brother. There are so many things that could have caused the paint on the hood to be a different shade. If you were 1 coat less on the primer, or the primer was a shade off the original primer that could very well have done it.
Great build save Shawn. Very similar to the Aussie Falcon of the day. but ours were only in 4dr version and the Coupe. Have a blessed and great New Year. Cheers JV
Sweet little Falcon Shawn. Great job! Those were small cars, I had one as a woods buggy in my early teens. One of those cars we all destroyed in our youth and look back at how stupid we were. The Lincolns and Cadillacs in that era were all land barges. almost like you should have needed a harbor pilots license to drive one.
Hi Shawn love the little falcon beautiful model, no idea on the paint, I have a 40 willys pickup that was painted all at once but now it's 3 different shades of orange,,hope you have a happy new year buddy later Glen
Thank you very much Glen and I think John explains it all about the plastic is two different types and that's the problem and Happy New Years brother ❤️
Falcon turned out very nice, looks like a daily driver, used but not abused. Would love to see AMT reissue this kit, been wanting to build an early 60s Philly PD car and they used the 2 door Falcons (bit of an odd choice). Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!
Awesome build Shawn!! Oh man that sucks about the dropping the hood, done that as you know lol! Love the 6cyl in her! Color and wheels are sweet!! Awesome save! The 59 is sweet!
I think it turned out pretty well Shawn the color sits well with the time period nice job adding the engine regarding the hood i wouldn't worry to much god only knows what the are using in the plastic reclining schema have a great new year to you and all the family 👍👍
Looks good to me even with the color mismatch. I have that happen with the same parts, seems like maybe I get a heavier or something on the hood even when I paint them together. Things don't always go according to plan but it's still fun.
The Ranchero kit was a good donor kit ! The Ranchero would still be buildable after donating the parts to the Coupe. The 60 Ranchero kit has custom rims but no tires. Always save spare parts ! The 1959 ElCamino kit has 8 tires. I combined the stock tires out of the El Camino with the Custom rims from the 1960 Ranchero kit it works great
looks awsome as always bro i hope you had a great xmas and wanna wish you sand your family happy and exciting new year shaun 🎉🎊🍻🍾🍻 from me and mine 👍Keith
Shawn, this is the prettiest little ford falcon I've ever seen built. You definitely have an eye for the right shades of colour to best suit these old models and I definitely love blue! 🙂 love all the engine detail and how it contrasts against the shiny exterior... Thank you Keith for being a honest modeller I knew I wasn't alone in this paint reaction situation it's been happening in the 1 to 1 car paint world for decades and is one of the reasons a lot of the top painters stick with one paint line all the way through.. Have a Happy and safe New Year! My freind and model on!

No biggie on the hood.. And yes the plastic is different the old kits used virgin plastic the new Chinese kits aka round2 use recycled plastic so you never know what's in the mix you can tell by how gummy and flexible the new kits are as far as I know tamiya is the only one still using virgin plastic new plastic pellets and color but their may be a few other companies using virgin plastic... But not the Chinese espicially on something like a model which is for display and sees no hard use there is definitely some cross contamination between different recycled plastic going on in the molding and injection process...reason why I stick to modelling paint and not all the different formulas of krylon..rustoleum etc paints only time will tell if it reacts later down the line. I have had crazing cracking and lift off years down the line.... This is the dirty modelling secret most modellers using the big spray cans don't like to talk about...but it does happen.... And I damn know it a problem so did the old man Donn Yost God rest his soul!.. And I have a stash of old kits that proves the plastic is different with out question.
That looks like a car a neighbor of my Grandparents had when I was growing up. I would see that car parked in their driveway every time we would go visit. Great job, really takes me back!!!
