you'd be very limited in what can be carried over though, cant carry the master sword over because story reasons, hearts and stamina cant really be carried over because they get taken at the start of the game, youd be limited to carryingy over what you had in your inventory at the end of the game though, excluding story items, so weapons, shields, bows, items, item slots, carry over number of koroks found, and maybe sidequests completed

I like the idea of limiting what you can bring with you into the depths. Like "Ganon senses your presence and has stripped your items from you or a test from Hylia. You can have only one set of armor, one weapon, one shield, one bow, and only a few food items. Something along those lines. Maybe have the depths be on giant test of strength.

You missed 1 for gloom hands the hands can split up and surround you so if they split up and you get grabbed by a hand they all charge torwards you just to make it that much more horrifying. Then phantom ganon can spawn a single gloom hand with reduced health so you has to kill the extra hands he spawns in order to not get grabbed and unable to avoid his attacks.

I think all the peeps at r/HyruleEngineering would sing for joy if they add two very simple Zonai parts:
    - On/Off switch (Press A to activate while using the Steering Stick)
    - Reciever: Activates/deactivates any part connected to a glowing pad
    Here's some very basic concepts:
    - Toggle weapons (saves energy consumption)
    - Toggle fans (activate flying/amphibious mode)
    - Toggle rockets (emergency maneuvers/ NITROS)
    - Toggle Wheel rotation (activate Turret mode)
    - Toggle Hover Stone (mid-air traversal game-changer)
The cost would obviously be sacrificing parts otherwise used for other functions, but I find that to be a fair trade. Do y'all have any other ideas?

I really hope totk gets master mode because that is what made botw so replayable for me. My all time favorite playthrough of botw was when I completed it 100% with only 3 hearts in master mode. Pretty much every enemy one-shot me, and trial of the sword was literal pain, but it was so much fun and I managed to finish 100% the day before totk came out. So I really hope totk gets master mode because I would have so much fun with it.

I think it’d be cool that if gloom hands (and gloom like likes if they exsisted) grabbing/eating you have a temporary negative status effect they inflict where it gets gloom on your armor and you cannot get rid of the gloom via direct light or by eating gloom recipes. You would have to go to a great fairy or something to remove the gloom from your armor. This is something that would incentivize swapping armor between fights until you can actually make the trip to the great fairy which I feel the game kinda needs because even though I’m collecting it all the armor, I only really use like two sets but if enemy’s could put gloom on armor there’s more decision making like “should I wear my attack up armor right now to deal with this enemy even though it has a bunch of gloom on it and I can only have a maximum of 7 hearts because of that or should I not risk it and put on a different armor like the zonai armor and take a different approach to dealing with this enemy using zonai parts?” I feel like a flat rate of ruppees to remove the gloom would probably work best (like 20-50 rupees per armor set or something maybe) but it would always remove %100 of the gloom where as the amount of time the enemy eats/grabs you would still determine how much gloom effects you like how it is now.

Gloom hands for me were terrifying at first where I just ran as fast as I could away climbing anything I could find. Killing them at first seemed extremely difficult also because they left so fast. When I found the one in the jail cell in the castle and saw it couldn’t get to me I shot it with about 100 arrows breaking all my bows only to find phantom Gannon who killed me scaring me all over again. Though once you can just shoot them with bomb arrows to deal I think thier fear factor drops by a lot.

-Have it so link regenerates health instead of gaining it instantly after eating food. (You would still be required to eat to regain health)

-Punishing game overs after having a game over you lose any food buff you had and your health is set to three hearts (You would still keep your heart containers and stamina)

      @ragemach1ne420 Před 10 měsíci +2

the game over part doesn't make much sense, it goes against the gameplay loop of "die and repeat". TOTK has saves be player-controlled because it allows the player to be able to retry encounters over and over again and tackle it in a different way until he finds success, having your health buff and hearts stripped away after a game over would just encourage the player not to have encounters in the first place, difficulty is meant to kill you, not meant to make you not want to play the game.

Things I think are good ideas from the video, with my own ideas injected:
-Making the Gloom Hands terrifying even to seasoned TotK players. How about roaming Gloom Hands that patrol entire areas of the map, instead of just popping out at specific locations? If the game is tracking the positions of the dragons from anywhere in the world independently of the time of day, I figure the game could have Gloom Hands patrolling set routes too (like they do with the Boss Bokoblins marching about in some spots). Until you learn those routes the Hands follow (which would be difficult given they chase you down the moment they spot you), they could continue to catch you off guard even in the same areas. Another possibility is adding ones that could spawn anywhere. Obviously them just spawning totally at random would be kinda ridiculous, but what if every time Ganondorf's power surges during the Blood Moon a Gloom Hand spawns near Link, or even right below him? I also think that (while having Gloom-infested monsters by default outside The Depths just seems out of place) the hands being able to grab nearby monsters and taint them with Gloom would be pretty interesting. They could remain Gloom-infested until the Phantom Ganon is defeated, and the Blood Moon like sky dissipates. And my idea of having the hands roam larger areas would lead to this happening far more than them spawning solely in areas nearly devoid of other enemies. The last thing about the Gloom Hands possibly dragging Link straight down into The Depths if they hold you for too long sounds kinda interesting, but with so many warp points about the game, it'd be less of a threat and more of a nuisance (unless you exploit it for your benefit).
-Making Gloom more of a threat... I do feel like Gloom getting healed by simply being exposed to surface air makes it a bit too unthreatening (especially when Gloom hearts are a penalty to using naturally powerful Gloom weapons), and you needing a more "sacred" light to cleanse the Gloom (outside eating Sundellion meals) makes more sense. Let's say the only ways to gradually restore hearts lost to Gloom are by entering the purifying Shrines of Light, or standing by the Lightroots connected to them. I also figure they could rework how Gloom affects Link's hearts. As it is, you only lose entire hearts at a time, be it from Gloom attacks or standing in Gloom puddles. I suppose in some cases that makes fights harder losing full hearts even with the toughest armor... but if they made the max heart drain from Gloom more steady and it drained in partial heart increments, you would not be able to stand in Gloom puddles for even a moment without sacrificing some health (which would make traversing The Depths and other areas more of a challenge). They could make your max health decrease at a similar (or maybe slightly faster) rate as it does in normal mode, with the Depths Armor set reducing the rate your health goes down (instead of giving you free hearts of leeway).
-Making Like Likes more of a threat. On top of them being more aggressive/quick to eat Link, how about EVERY time they do eat him, they eat and destroy one active piece of gear (weapon, shield, or bow) or eat and decay one active piece of armor? If you're unlucky enough to have your armor munched on, it goes down 1 tier and requires you spend the money and materials to upgrade it again. If the armor piece isn't upgraded and can be reobtained, you lose it entirely. Practically all the gear and armor in the game is not unique, and can be reobtained through some fashion or another, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if anything is lost (and could make part of the strategy fighting the enemies to not use gear you'd miss, or armor you'd hate to have to buy/upgrade again).
-New monsters. I think TotK added some real cool new/returning enemies missing from BotW... but i also feel like there was a lot of missed potential. Where are the Boss Moblins, Boss Lizalfos, or Boss Horriblins, commanding entire squads of their respective monsters? Not sure why they had the idea to make a boss mook for Bokoblins alone. Similarly, why are Bokoblins and Lynels the only monsters with armored variants? All the humanoid monsters could have had armored versions. It's cool they added Aerocudas as a slightly more threatening common airborne enemy, but they still go down in a single hit like any Keese variant does. Why did they not give them more health given the game's focus on fusing materials to arrowheads to make them more effective? They could have also had higher tier variants with more health, and new movement patterns or attacks. Hell, while we're at it, why didn’t they bring back Aerolfos? I could see the humanoid dragon things working both as basic monsters like Lizalfos, maybe commanding squads of Lizalfos from the air, or being very tough monsters like Lynels. Also the talk of Gloom Hands working like Wallmasters/Floormasters made me think they could bring those back in dungeons too, to keep you on your toes and moving about as you explore them. Any time you let yourself get caught by them, they drag you right back to a dungeon entrance as they usually do.
-Not touched on in the video, but it's very easy to cheese most puzzle shrines with a mix of clever Ultrahand+Recall use, bringing rocket/spring/bomb shields into shrines, or bomb arrowing large switches. What if they restricted use of certain skills and certain sorts of gear on a case-by-case basis in many shrines to prevent such effortless cheese tactics, and force you to figure out the (often less simple but more interesting) intended solution for shrine puzzles? I hear people say these sort of restrictions go against the spirit of total freedom the game has, but I argue a player already had their chance to do shrines with whatever their imagination could envision in normal mode, master mode is supposed to be a challenge and not let you (easily) break everything. Alternatively, they could also use the restricted skills/gear concept to force the player to come up with elaborate alternative puzzle solutions they would have never considered possible. Hell, they could even just remix shrines entirely, so they have similar focuses to the original versions, but more elaborate puzzles or challenging fights.
-Again something unrelated to the video, but make the Yiga Clan as much of a threat gameplay-wise as they were an (imminent) threat narratively. I love how the Yiga stepped up their game in TotK, attacking more often in groups, using new, more elaborate traps, building/seizing multiple new bases aboveground, crafting dozens of bases to explore The Depths, and crafting all sorts of dangerous vehicles... but every time you start fighting a basic Yiga member, the actual fight is laughably pathetic. They go down super quickly with stronger weapons, and because they use their weak Shiekah weapons across the entire game, they deal barely any damage with decent armor. With how much they seem to love crafting junk, (even if they have their preferred base weapons,) it'd be cool to at least see them attach increasingly dangerous items to their weapons. Maybe their weapons and armor gets better after passing a mix of Yiga KO count thresholds and Master Kohga defeats.
Not sure if anything I suggested is plausible (stuff like the Gloom health drain rework might have been something they needed to do that way from the start), but there's definitely a lot of interesting stuff they could do in theory.

What if blood moons lasted longer? for example, an introduction cutscene leads you into a "super blood moon" which lasts across a night or a few days in the game? it would strengthen enemies and allow players to die more easily but gain event-specific items! maybe you come across a Lynel during this event and its teeth are very pronounced and they drop teeth upon death? it could enhance meals or certain amours considering it is linked to the blood moon!
Just think about that! Also, there's a mod in development called "totk master Mode Mod" Maybe include the monster designs from that and entire monsters?
Another thought, make the Yiga Clan thrive in the desert in the master mode! with Yiga outposts in the desert and make them patrol on sand seals or... MOLDUGA???? There is a thought! back to the Lynels, give them the weaponry that they did back in BOTW, but only for the "Super Blood Moon" event! it entices players to hunt monsters more but gives them chills or even scares them to even look at a monster! but the thrill of killing those monsters would be emotionally rewarding!.
Other ideas, bring back the floating monster camps! and further in the sky you go, the larger the camps get! With larger octorocs with amour or some methods of defense! make the camps out of different materials and with treasure in hard-to-reach spots! this entices players to think critically about how they can get a reward! Who knows, maybe some monsters have set up bases ON sky islands?!

    • @elias0240

Everything you have proposed sounds like a blast and now I’m sad that we probably won’t get giant bokoblin strongholds floating in the sky and day long blood moons. Making the Yiga Clan not only stronger, but also more prevalent in the desert, like they hold more ground due to the increased strength they would have in master mode, would also be a really neat way to flesh out some of the emptier parts of Totk.
Seriously though, I want to raid huge sky bases that you have to fly to with wacky contraptions. Floating castles, cobbled together with planks and scaffolding! Bokoblin ships held in the air with massive clusters of octoroks! Bokoblins with arrows riding on flying enemies patrolling said castles! Raiding these huge structures during a super bloodmoon with barely any equipment!

@@elias0240 something else i forgot to mention that could be added would be large floating sky flux constructs, these ranging in difficulty with 6 levels and they are as listed (going from easiest to hardest):
      1. Sky Construct I
      2. Sky Construct II
      3. Sky Construct III
      4. Sky Construct IV
      5. Sky Construct V
      6. Sky Construct VI
although this would be self explanatory with the naming, i think the attacks and defense systems are better!
      1. they are commonly located around large clusters of sky islands, these of course are far way from the Sky Construct, there are "Seized constructs" around these sky island chains. they can also be regular constructs. the higher the location, the more enemies, the harder and stronger the enemies are and thus, better loot!
      2. the sky construct remains dormant in a tower form, very tall and large. maybe 2-3 times larger than the regular flux constructs. and there are eyes that surround the head of this sky construct, that float and rotate around the main core, this could be the weak point but it is covered in different construct parts, like the pot-like materials they are made of. this could be destroyed using a specific material, possibly zonai in origin. there are a total of 20-30 eyes making it really fun to fight! if you're being sneaky! But if you are spotted, then you will hear a large siren sound eminating from the sky construct, with a large red sphere of light around the large spire at the top of the sky construct. this will alert of all the constructs around and they will begin attacking you.
      3. as an attack the sky construct can send large missiles towards link. these are flying constructs that will aim towards you, they occasionally stop flying and aim at you like sheika guardians. they fire a beam the exact same as them. the other attacks are listed below:
      - Large energy beams that go towards large zonai building pieces, these are thrown at link
      - sending smaller constructs towards link
      - uses several eyes to shoot beams in your direction
-uses the island chain its within, to control large fans that mess up your direction of flight or skydiving!
      - can pick apart certain parts of your ultrahand creations and use them for energy for itself
      - can use a large siren to stun link
      projectiles

It would be kinda disappointing if Master mode in totk is just like botw. I think having brand new attacks for every enemy would be great. A Lynel has one new attack in totk which needs to be fixed. Reshuffling all of the enemies would also help with keeping the game fresh.
They could also reshuffle all of the coliseum fights too. Instead of fighting only five lynels in the floating coliseum, they could have an enemy accompany them. Those coliseum or the game in general could give us different rewards or even an improved version of an outfit like what Dadd of war NG+ does.
They could even add brand new enemies exclusive to Master mode. Maybe they could add in an even harder variant from the gold version like a platinum variant. But with the Platinum variant, instead of just adding in more Hp, they would just ignore any armor defense. That way, you can't just wear your 78 armor for face tanking. To balance it, they would only have as much HP as the silver variant. Those variant would also be either resistant or immune to puffshroom, dazzlefruit, and muddle buds. And finally, both the gold and platinum variants would do way more delayed timing/fake outs on you to keep you on your toes. Also, we could have higher tier of minibosses to mirror the gold and platinum variant.
HP regen for enemies needs to go fully or tweaked to not be so insane. Maybe instead of slowly gaining HP, they would all get a second wind HP heal below 30% HP if you don't kill them quickly enough. It could also be like certain bosses in xenoblade where after certain HP threshold they become more aggressive and gain more power. It would also be pretty awesome if the HP gain is them actually evolving into a higher tier mid battle like with Dad of War.
The dungeons needs to be completely redone like Master quest to be way more tricky. I would not mind it if they actually restrict you being able to climb everywhere. They could even add in minibosses in the dungeon for you to fight.
And finally, they need to give you better rewards for sidequests, minigames and exploration. That could also apply to the base game as well.

I have ideas for the Temple Bosses in Master Mode:
Colgera - touching or getting hit by it instantly freezes you, and ice spikes are now homing.
Marbled Ghoma - marbled rocks explode on impact, and its other attacks are now explosive including regenerating its legs.
Mucktorok - sludge drains stamina, and always spill out sludge when moving even if knock off its shark.
Queen Gibdo - sand shroud for the entire fight, and gibdo nests need two hits to be destroyed.

Some things I would like to see in TOTK master mode:
    - obviously, tougher enemies - which means: 1. more hp, ability to recharge, hitting harder (just like in BOTW master mode)
    2. wiser ai would also be great
    - choosing an ability, fusing an item to the arrow or choosing a weapon will not pause the game
    - less items (reduced to a quarter of the current amount)
    - outside equipment is not allowed in all shrines
    - cooking and eating only in locations with the cooking pot (portable pots cannot be used during a battle)
    - bullet time eats stamina more quickly
    - more gloom in the depths (escpecially near the castle) which will force the player to move mainly on stalhorses or zonai machines
    - make depths even darker, where brightblooms will slowly fade out and gloom will not be visible from far away (only activated lightroots will be a permanent light source in there)
That would make a gameplay bit more spicy.

My only hope is that the story DLC is a continuation of the story rather than a retrofitted plot point. this would be beyond cruel, but in my dream my last night, something happened in my game called “the insanity” and every night, you had a chance of your save file becoming doomed, which meant in one real hour, your file would be deleted and you would have to start a new game. the only way to prevent this was to complete all 10 items on a checklist, which were simple-sounding tasks that could’ve been “eat a sneaky meal” or “upgrade a piece of armor” but trust me, they can be devastating, especially when they extend to OTHER GAMES. of course, they probably couldn’t do that, but could you imagine if you had to do a bunch of random shit while making your way to the final boss? I imagine this would happen right at that point where you can’t save anymore. and I think the worst part was that when the time ran out, link collapsed and the screen faded to black, and it wouldn’t show the normal death screen but a screen that said something like “maybe next time, you’ll learn” and a cinematic of some armor being sealed away in a cave for some reason (it was tragic, trust me).

Gloom hands could have something like active camo from Halo, where they almost perfectly blend into their surroundings
Or here's an idea, they could have their own version of ultrahand to disassemble or use your own creations. For example, if you used a stake to make a platform to get away from them, they can pull the stake from under you, or shake the platform loose. Maybe if you had a cannon or flame emitter, they can pull it off of your vehicle and point it at you. They are giant hands after all, so it seems reasonable that they could do hand things.
Also I think Like-Likes should be mobile, they were able to move in past Zelda games I think, at least in Ocarina of Time if I'm not mistaken. Plus the ones in TotK appear to have legs. I could see them being able to jump kinda like a Bubbulfrog. Or maybe, just any ranged attacks when they're already alerted to your presence, will have a chance to be eaten.

I’d like to see them move away from health regeneration and try some other options to make things more difficult. (Although it’d be interesting to see how regeneration is handled with certain enemies. Would Colgera just regrow his ice sheets over time?)
Double damage to Link would be a nice start. It would make armor rating and combat skills even more important. And to go along with that - this is insane😈 - let’s increase the material requirements for armor upgrades in Master Mode.
I’d also like to see a setting where Link cannot consume food when enemies are nearby. Maybe he could quietly quaff an elixir - but only if he’s not detected? Being able to inhale a whole cafeteria’s worth of food at any moment’s notice is rather game-breaking, so it’d be funny to see how players react if that safety net were taken away from them.😂

Eiji Aonuma stated that the team behind the game "has no plans to release any additional content. Is there any hope for Master Mode for Tears of the Kingdom?

I’m 250 hours in 98% of the map unlocked all 1000 seeds every well every cave…just some side quests and sub bosses left for 100%….I don’t even want to think about starting up a master mode lol

You wouldn't capture enemies with pokeballs. Don't be ridiculous! You'd capture them with Cappy.

So many of these suggestions are balance breaking in a way that goes beyond what Master Mode is trying to accomplish

I want infinite depths. You can keep going down and every floor is harder and harder.

What about you can't recover Gloom damage, ever, and, if you die your save is deleted? HARDCORE!
Seriously now, maybe Gloom and time spent on the depth could roten/decay your food. One thing I missed bad on TotK is fighting while skydiving, I thought that would be a thing. Also, there are far too many Rauru Blessings shires, I'd expect more challenges.

I never play master or super hard modes, but how about non-tracking arrows, Keese eyeballs don't home in? That sounds like something the masochists would enjoy.
