Wonderful! Yes--there is an art-themed readalong in September which will be formally announced on August 1st. The main book prompt is to read one book about art, fiction or nonfiction--and Painter's book will be perfect! (Painter was the academic advisor of some of my grad school friends. Brilliant woman.)

@@HannahsBooks This is very exciting! Last month I finished an exhibition catalog for a Charles Demuth exhibition I saw in 1988! It was one of the best reads of the year so far. I found it at a library book sale in pristine condition and I’ve started picking more up at those sales. Even paperback ones were $40 back in the day, and I’m scooping them up for $3-$4 now.

I do love those clothbound Jane Austen novels. Very pretty. I did really love Kiss of the Spider Woman--both the novel and the film. Old in Art School sounds really interesting. I'm also looking forward to FIRE EXIT. What a terrific book haul, Angelia!

The world is nuts. Buy all the books. That's my new theory. I bought We the Animals on Kindle sale a couple weeks ago. Shorty September is just around the corner. How is that possible? I read Old in Art School several years ago, and it's quite good. (And of course if Sonya recommends it, you know it's worth reading!) Painter has a new book coming out this year that I'll definitely be picking up. I understand your REI/bookstore conundrum. The flagship REI is right next to the flagship Half Price in Dallas. It's basically a law that you have to enter both. (Weirdly, there's also a Half Price right by the REI in Plano as well. A conspiracy?) I got Forbidden Notebook because Melinda said so many great things about it!
@@EveningReader I'm really looking forward to the Painter book. The REI conspiracy theory is intriguing...I find the proximity very handy since Steven has strikingly less bookstore stamina than I do. And I've hit all of those Half Prices many times! Here in Corpus the Half Price and Barnes and Noble are in the same shopping center, along with Target!
I read Kiss of the Spiderwoman years ago and loved it. The musical is also great..

I just finished the women by Kristen Hanna for our book club this Wednesday and I’m starting safekeep… I liked fire exit but wanted more of Elizabeth story.
@@lynniepie52 I hope Safekeep is excellent! I'll be curious to see how Fire Exit goes for me. The only Kristin Hannah book I've read is The Nightingale.

I’m completely up for Old In Art, I’ve not heard about it before, but I’ve always wanted to learn more about RISD and have always wanted to visit there, the university museum is supposed to be excellent and I want to visit nearby Brown as well.
@@bookofdust Looks like my September selection for both the art book event and my monthly nonfiction! One of Emma's best friend is at Brown. I have always thought RISD sounded really cool.
@@readandre-read All you really need to know is that The Talking Heads got their start at RISD and that instantly makes it interesting. Although, I’m reading a GN about Kent State and I wouldn’t have necessarily tag it as an incubator for both DEVO and Chrissie Hynde!
More than a decade ago I set a goal of going to the art museums at all the Ivies and the Seven Sisters and I think I’m still hovering around halfway done.
