That's why the mayor's new effort to investigate Reparations is so very important. Slavery (abolished 1863), Jim Crow (effectivly abolished in 1965, and was a Southern institution), and Redlining (which affected many demographics, not just black Americans, and has been abolished in 1968), are positively the reason why 71 people are being shot today, in 2024.

I always hear this, but what would a conservative run city do differently? Can’t hire more police, because that raises taxes. Harsher laws aren’t going to stop murder. None of these people are thinking about the law when they fire the gun. They don’t catch most of these people because of the frequency and its the middle of the night. I feel like this is just an easy political scapegoat for some people. All blame with no real answers. I’m not saying one way or another is better, I just don’t see either side solving this issue.
