People will never understand how stacked the WWF tag team division was from 1986-1992. There were so many great teams that didn’t win the tag titles and Rougeau Brothers were one of them.

I remember the slow heel turn which, even by today's standards, simply never happens... and rarely happened in the Golden Era. But without a doubt, Vince was a GENIUS with the Rougeaus heel turn because he was 100% right on that one and Jacques and Raymond made GREAT HEELS.

Rougeau Brothers were slightly before my time. I don't remember Ray wrestling. I always thought he sounded like a great guy. Jacques was awesome. So funny. I love wrestlers with personality. The Mountie was one of the most underrated wrestlers. But this story by Ray is exactly why I liked the Rougeaus. It was complex and well crafted. Not a simple stupid approach like Hacksaw.

I started to watch wrestling at about that time when their heel turn was happening. I was a kid and it's true, I absolutely hated their smile and the little flags with the annoying music and all their heel antics like the fake handshake... They were superb heels and I appreciate them even more now as a full grown man because they absolutely had me glued to the screen every time they were on, their matches were always entertaining.

The Rougeaus were terrific as faces and as heels, but they're probably more memorable as heels, especially since Jacques went on to become the Mountie. But what I wonder is, did being heels make it difficult for Ray to transition into an announcing position?

I remember the many times you wrestled at the Niagara Falls Convention Center is the mountie gimmick he was so hated Canada being so close and all. I remember that Convention Center was small but the reception he received he and Jimmy Hart is the mountie he was having stuff thrown at him all kinds of names called. Come to think of it I don't ever think they let him win in Niagara Falls? I think he would have been beating inside the convention center somehow now it's a fucking Casino all my memories of all those great House shows in the convention center in the Falls especially the day after Christmas when the WWF would always come after being in Toronto earlier in the afternoon for Boxing Day Niagara Falls Civic and Convention Center would get the evening card Macho Man Randy Savage vs Jake The Snake and No Holds Barred match December 26th 1991 so excited front row seats aisle for what? A two-minute match literally Macho Man Randy Savage getting disqualified for hitting Jake with a belt then climbing top rope with the Bell attempting to do a flying elbow smash with the Bell and hand somehow?? But Miss Elizabeth in the referee persuading Randy not to do it or he'll be suspended again so hit the showers leave Niagara Falls and on to Cincinnati I think they went

I remember seeing a really bad match with them at a house show in Ottawa in Nov 91 and then they came back and had a rematch in Feb 92. The Feb card was better. The Nov card was the Thursday after the Tuesday in Texas PPV so the Saturday TV show hadn't played so I remember everyone wondering why Undertaker was champion since it was before Internet and I believe he beat Davey Boy Smith that night in the semi main.

@@TheHannibalTV I seen Undertaker and Davey Boy have a match in Niagara Falls the day after Christmas earlier that afternoon in Toronto the match for the main event was Jake The Snake and The Undertaker versus Macho Man Randy Savage and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. But later that evening and Niagara Falls Convention Center I got to see Jake The Snake and Randy Savage have a 20 second match and then the British bulldog Davey Boy wrestle The Undertaker what I remember about that match was Davey Boy Smith holding Undertaker up hi in a vertical suplex for damn near 15 seconds I forgot how strong Davey Boy once was when he first joined WWE is a singles wrestler. I miss the old WWF of the 90s could always count on monthly House shows here in Buffalo New York at the AUD or in Niagara Falls at the Civic and Convention Center which is now a casino and the AUD in Buffalo set empty for almost 20 years before they finally demolished it sad really so many great memories in both of these Arenas now the WWE comes maybe twice a year here Buffalo New York I really like your channel man very interesting you have a very good format

In those days, it was very difficult to get the crowd to love you as a face if you were anything but American or British. Hence why there were so many foreign heels. Everyone loved booing the foreigners. Not saying there weren't other babyfaces from different countries but it was not as common as it is now. Plus, the Rougeaus were pretty much bland before they started turning heel. They had no gimmick and that worked against them at a time when colorful, cartoon gimmicks were popular.
