I enjoyed the Getaway as a teenager. I thought it was entertaining.

Now i did like blank check. I did think the karen duffy character was a bit over the top. If they had written a 11 or 12 year old girl as a love interest to play off the brian bonsall character, it would have been more fun. Some one like Jenna von oy or a Kellie Martin, that would have been a sweet story. Kids first crush And kiss, ECT. And if the kid had used the million to show off of the kids who teased him at the 1st birthday party scene, that would have been a better payoff. And I did like miguel ferrer as the villian.
The Getaway Is underrated imo , Baldwin and Basinger worked well and were Interesting together , the plot was entertaining , and James Woods was good.
Of course is underrated...is a garbage of remake
I love The Getaway. I use to watch it over and over on HBO as a kid.

I haven’t seen Blank Check in a long time. I enjoyed it allot when i was younger. Not sure what I would think about it now

I've enjoyed reading Blake Snyder's Save the Cat books and I think there's a lot of useful stuff in those works, but I have to admit his movies were as cookie-cutter as they get.
I love THE GETAWAY remake...I thought it was awesome

I always thought My Girl 2 was decent enough , nowhere as memorable as the original but not a bad film , and Anna Chlumsky still played her role good , her personality and acting at the time was just as naturally magnetic as Macauly Culkin's was as a kid , that's why the first movie Is such a classic , first My Girl just has a more Interesting and better executed story , and It had Culkin who was Impossible not to like at that age In one of his best roles.
My Girl 2 was ok but I didn’t like that so much was focused on the mother. It’s almost as if she was the unseen star. I wish it had been more about Vada herself. The stuff near the end with the guy who was married first to her mom was nice but the movie just didn’t have the same connection or obstacles Vada did in the first movie leaving it inferior. Still I could probably name 10 worse sequels than this one. Was it a very necessary sequel no? Was it entirely awful? No, again.
Siskel mixed up The Player's Oscar nominations. It was nominated for director not picture, not the other way around :)

None of these are great to see including My Girl 2, despite good performance by Anna Chlumsky it was slow-moving distracted story.

For everyone hear saying My Girl 2 sucks it isn’t anywhere near as good as the original film I will grant you that and it’s not the most necessary sequel in Hollywood history either but it sucks? I just didn’t think it was that bad. Sure the first is better but number 2 could have been WAY worse.

I always felt The Getaway was too long and story took awhile to get going. The Rudy kidnapping couple subplot I always felt was unnecessary and often cruel for no reason. It does have an under current of misogyny throughout the film. Overall some okay action scenes but uneven is the perfect description of The Getaway 1994.

First one was awesome. Second my girl kinda wasn’t that good. It dragged for the most part. The only scene that was good in my opinion was the first clip siskel and ebert played in the beginning of reviww
I would say only watch My Girl 2 if you weee a true die hard fan of the first one. If the first was one of those take or leave it movies you found watchable don’t waste your time with number 2. If you loved the first one and consider it one of your personal favorites it might be worth a watch for part 2. Part 2 is nowhere near as depressing as the original unfortunately in being such it’s not anywhere near as good a story either.

Hilarious. Gene really would've hated noir. And i think the both of them wouldve been mixed of Fritz Lang. To think there are too many crashes and stuff when guys like Brian De Palma have been relying on plot armor and coincidences much more in movies they recommend lmao
The Getaway: 👎⭐⭐ - a predictable action thriller that recycles action picture clichés in relation to a rather expensive bail out of a drug lord, despite a fine performance from Kim Basinger.
Blank Check: 👎 - a spoilt and unrelentingly appalling film; wanting audiences to believe a million dollars is equivalent to a lifetime of luxuries. Easily one of the worst films of 1994.
My Girl 2: 👎⭐⭐ - a deliberately slow moving family drama which doesn't add up much story about Vada Sultenfuss's deceased mother.
I agree My Girl 2 doesn’t add up to much but I still didn’t think it was terrible. The first movie was far better and the sequel wasn’t extremely necessary (After all the original only did ok when it first came out) but it still could have been way worse than it was. It got better right before the end but everything else otherwise was done much more effectively in the first film.
Yeah, the original My Girl from a few years prior to the sequel had alot of heart and empathy with its character development. It's also because the storyline involving Chlumsky's character happens to be neurotic, because her mother had passed away. In the sequel, while I liked the idea Sultenfuss was to move to LA, I still thought the screenplay was less than satisfactory. The payoff just seemed as if it was rippled with TV tropes - resembling a plain bad midday telemovie to some degree. It fell to pieces with its inconsistent script halfway through the film.
When it comes to Howard Zieff with his comedy drama films, some of his films (eg; My Girl 2) fail to find substance within the second half or last third of his films. Not that they were rushed, it's just the structural mess causing some of his films to be unlikable.
Blank Check is one of the worst kids movies from the 90s.
