    This is my review of the PlayNick Puccini Tosca French clarinet mouthpiece! This mouthpiece, along with the synthetic focused Nommos B2 is one of the successors to the old PlayEasy B2 mouthpiece. This mouthpiece is similar to the Vandoren B40, but of course with its own character and response!
    As always, please let me know if you have any questions about anything covered in the video!

    I love your videos and you sound incredible on this mouthpiece! I messaged Silverstein and they said that A 440 mouthpieces are custom orders and not returnable. I can't afford to order these to try and not be able to return. Super frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent.

      Ah, sorry for the frustration! I’m not sure if you saw my pinned comment, but it turns out I was wrong in the video and they sent me a 443 mouthpiece. It still tuned well for me at 440, so maybe you would have similar luck!

    Nicely made video! Is this mouthpiece considered open or closed? I do have one and love it too, but i’m not sure what is it classified under

    • @ParkHouseCreations
      @ParkHouseCreations  Před 11 měsíci +1

      This mouthpiece would be considered open in the US, though if you are from certain parts of Europe it might be more medium open as mouthpieces there are sometimes far more open.

    Congratulations for the quality videos you made for the clarinet players community.
    I want to ask you about the wider tip size of some Playnick models. You also mentioned this aspect in the video.
    I have never played or seen any mouthpiece with this kind of very wide geometry on the tip and on the facing. I have my own mouthpiece collection (more than 40 mouthpieces: Vandoren, Licostini, Playnick, D’addario and other handmade stuff).
    Did you get some info from Playnick about the role of this different concept (wide tip and facing)? Or how the player should adapt to this kind of equipment?
    I have many models from Playnick (Tosca, Joy, B2, old B3) and most of them have this very wide tip approach.

      Thanks! I played on a refaced BD5 for about 3-4 years, but after trying the PlayNick Tosca I have no intention of returning to the BD5. That being said, I haven’t tried the BD4 or BD7, so maybe one of those would work even better for me!

    • @ParkHouseCreations
      @ParkHouseCreations  Před 2 lety

      @@raybei9072 I don't think my answer here will be very helpful, but for me the Tosca just let me more easily produce the sound I was envisioning in my head. I could get the sound I wanted on both mouthpieces, but it felt easier and more natural on the Tosca. I think this is a situation where everyone's experiences will be different!

    Please!! Can you recommend to Silverstein works to make a new Omnipatch with deeper tooth groove? I already did, but they don't care. If you would tell them, maybe they'd take more seriously. I think that would save the day on many clarinetists!!

    • @ParkHouseCreations
      @ParkHouseCreations  Před 3 lety +1

      To be honest, I don’t think I have any influence, but I will mention it next chance I get!
      Edit: Though, full disclosure, I like thick patches and I don’t use their Omni patches with the tooth groove. Do you want placing your teeth in the groove to feel more like a thin patch?

    • @jimis3167
      @jimis3167 Před 3 lety +1

      @@ParkHouseCreations I've tried the Omnipatch black with the tooth groove but I find the groove too thin and my teeth were sliding off the mouthpiece. I strongly believe that If the groove was at least twice as deep, we wouldn't need to bite at all, everyone would have bigger sound, articulation, staccato and double tonguing would become super easy! But not with only 8mm groove.. I would say 20mm would be great If not more deep, so the teeth hook well. As for the teeth placement, I'd say you can get used to being in one position all the time, you still would be able to change the lower lips position to manage higher notes. Please! Ask Silverstein to make It! I did and they did not take me seriously.. They gave me the impression they don't care at all.. Really bad approach from them I would say.. If you know someone working there and talk to him/her would be a miracle!

    • @ParkHouseCreations
      @ParkHouseCreations  Před 3 lety

      @@jimis3167 I see what you are saying and its a shame you got that impression, though I'm sure it wasn't their intention! I think you have a different approach to the instrument compared to what I, or the people over at Silverstein might have. Just to be clear, I think that everyone's oral cavities are different and there are multiple approaches that can work when playing the instrument. What may work for me, may not work for you and vice versa. However, in a very general sense, if your teeth are sliding around, even in the groove and you feel the need to bite for stability, I think that's probably unrelated to the mouthpiece patch. No one should have to bite to maintain stability. It sounds to me like you would be a prime candidate for a neck strap, I think the extra point of contact could really help you find the stability you are looking for. Have you tried one? I always think the vast majority of players would benefit from one.

      @@ParkHouseCreations No, I already use Ton Kooiman maestro but either with Ton Kooiman or a strap, I feel a mouthpiece patch with deep groove would be, what should I say? My paradise! I'm exaggerating so you understand how good that would be for me, maybe for others too.. It's very unfortunate Silverstein didn't take my words in progress! Now, I continue playing on Yamaha 0.5mm patches which I find the most non-slippering of all. I'm also interested to try the Winton mouthpiece patches but I don't cause shipping this time is so expensive! Check them on eBay If you will..
