In 1987 I had a S&W revolver with two speedloaders(18 rounds total), 2 sets of Peerless handcuffs, a portable radio and old hickory that got jammed between the seats. When I retired in 2020, I had a Glock with 2 extra 15 round mags, 2 sets of ASP cuffs, a large ASP baton, pepper spray, radio, med kit, body cam, body armor, 2 30 round AR mags and a M4 between the seats with an electronic release. Luckily I didn't have to carry a taser. No wonder my back is screwed up.

Another use for a USB flash drive: if you're at a crime scene, you're looking at some store CCTV and you known that the guy on morning shift at the store won't give a crap about preserving the footage so it will probably be over-written before a detective can get to it, it's useful to download the footage to a flash drive just in case. Not personally a fan of full size backup lights but then I've never found a compact size backup light that I'm totally happy with. Closest I got was a surefire backup which is a great light but the output is poor compared to most modern lights.

I also carry 2 TQs, I have a CAT Gen7 on my duty belt which is solely for me since it's easier to apply a CAT to yourself/one handed. Also if I go down, anyone can see the TQ and easily apply it to me. In my IFAK on my vest, I have a SOF-T Wide Gen4 folded up which is the TQ that I give to others. I would always carry at least 2 flashlights on top of a WML and a pen light in my IFAK, I personally like extended mags in the TACO pouch mounted to the vest and a spare standard proprietary mag on the belt. This way you're not giving up a 3rd mag and it's fairly unobtrusive and not a lot of extra weight on the belt at all, then relegate the 3rd TACO pouch to something like a flashlight.
I will say, if your agency allows it to grab a Safariland Hardwire which is rifle rated soft armor with years of data behind it. When it comes to Safariland, always get the concealed carrier because you can stick the entire thing into any overt carrier and use it with any rifle plate. Because the concealed armor is still in the original carrier it came with, it won't void Safariland's warranty. I've been loving my Hardwire and just got a brand new Second Chance carrier made to me which has been fantastic.

Tommy, just wanted to let you know that Motorola had an issue with the old revisions of those speaker mics. Hence the fraying of the cord. It's a common issue and they recently put out a new revision of mics that replaces the old plastic used on those. Look for part number PMMN4050AL. The "L" at the end of the part number means it uses the new plastic and is far stretchier and less susceptible to fraying and tearing.

I gotta say, I wore a duty belt for a long time. And I wish there was a better option. Anyone who uses these should be very careful and look at either using suspension systems or if your Department allows, use a vest instead. We have nerves and blood vessels that run down the anterior part of the hip bone that the heavy duty belts compress and overtime can lead to damage to both the nerves and blood vessels. But the nerves damage is what is most painful. I personally have a constant burning sensation on my thigh that does not go away EVER! Its numb on the outside of my skin and blow torch burning on the inside. All from wearing a very heavy belt. Keep it as light as possible if you can. The wider the belt the better. But it still applies pressure where you don’t want it. Stay safe!

Though not directed towards me figured I would chime in. When I first started though it was after they stopped using revolvers the only duty belts authorized in most depts in my area were real leather, though if i remember correctly Uncle Mike's did have a nylon belt system but unless you worked in a special unit and even than I knew bike patrol guys that used leather for so long they weren't comfortable switching. I forget brands but one of the best I used had padding on the inside which made my back and legs happier. Also alot of depts mandated basket weave pattern and assume even though a lot have changed or allow other belts they still require that pattern. Also worth noting another big difference between now and than was besides SRT/SWAT bullet resistant vests were worn under uniform shirts vs many use outer carriers now which can still be warm but are alot cooler than the internal ones.
Another thing I will note of things that really doesn't happen anymore my dad started in a small town late 70's he went to a selectman's meeting he was voted in given his badges, the next day(day 1) he was issued his 5 shot 38 with 2 spare speed loaders full leather belt, uniform pants, few polos as they were out of uniform shirts no body armor, also issued 2 wooden batons on riot sized and a smaller one usually called a billy club & on day 3 he started with an fto till academy class opened, thought process was get most of it out of way so when you finish academy you do min time then on your own. After 4yrs be transferred to a bigger city and he was mainly same stuff but also issued/given a blackjack which fit perfectly in the small pockets on the pants almost like it was meant to be there.

For your radio antenna maybe look into getting a non rigid antenna and running it in a grid fashion inside the back of your vest. This way there is no antenna in your way and you will most likely have a little bit better reception due to having a longer antenna that has more surface area. They sell antenna relocation kits on line.

First thing: What holster are you carrying your PDP in?!?!
I really admire your armor layering setup! Your idea of putting the 10x12 FRAS up in front of some issued IIA armor inside a uniform carrier is something I want to try out myself now. Regarding the spare light vs. 3rd mag question… I would carry whichever one is the lightest weight because ounces become pounds very easily. My opinion is I think a much smaller light such as a mini flashlight or pen task sized light would suffice as a backup light, but that’s just me. I use a cheap, adjustable beam aluminum Coast light with a hat clip on it and a rechargeable AA battery for a secondary light because it goes right into my pants pocket easily, weighs nothing, and I can clip it to my hat bill for hands free use. Primary light is a good ole Streamlight Stinger DS HL and I take the longer Ultrastinger with me tucked in the passenger seat. Streamlight TLR-1 HL on my G19 Gen 3 with a few doodads as a duty carry gun in a Safariland 7TS level I duty retention holster. I want to go back to a 6000 Series level II Safariland holster after trying the level I 7TS from them… isn’t secure enough by my standards. If money wasn’t a precious thing, I would go buy an Alien Gear Rapid Force level III holster.

You could get a extension cable for the antenna. Run the wire through the vest from the radio to back were you could find a comfortable place to mount the antenna in a armor pocket. I do something similar. I run a cable from my radio through my shoulder harness to the antenna mounted on my water bladders carrier.

For your radio I think Motorola makes a bluetooth speaker mic that you can plug into the radio that would solve the fraying, worn out wire issue you have. And would be one less thing to snag or get grabbed at work.

Im against the TQ on the front of the holster. Its an awesome idea and a good way to save space, but there was an incident where an officer was in a fight and that TQ had been partially removed from its holder during that fight. While doing so, the TQ then blocked the retention flap on the holster from going all the way forward which prevented the officer from being able to draw his weapon. No thanks, ill choose life.

Why do you have your baton behind your gun in the US? I’m a security guard in Sweden and standard here is that if you are right handed you have your baton left side front for easy access. We are not aloud (as far as i know) to have it along the leg even.

Unless you are in an extreme rural area, they make way smaller antennas for your radio (we use same radio). I work in a city of 300,000 in a pretty large surrounding county with a sizable sheriff’s dept. The SO uses the same channels as us because we will often mutual aid with them and they are our coroners. I always give them crap because of their huge ass antennas which are I. Some cases poking them in the neck. You can get pretty remote in the county and still have just fine connection with a little guy In my experience. I’ve had to go into the county about as remote as you can get. At the very least, pick one up as they are pretty cheap, and test it out.

If anything I'd get a smaller light to just go in the pocket of your pants that runs off of batteries so if for whatever reason the rechargeable light dies you could grab that back up and worse comes to worse you could keep spare batteries on you as well.
