  • This is not the first time that Russia's space activities have raised suspicions. Back in early February 2022, the Kremlin launched the Cosmos-2553 satellite into orbit. The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reports that it is intended to test components of a potential anti-satellite weapon that could carry a nuclear device to disrupt the work of US government satellites as well as SpaceX ones.

I am totally impressed with Ukraine - a small country, a peaceful country - attacked by the world's largest country - the second most powerful nation? - Russia has been out freaking classed by a country the size of Texas - Russia the second best army in the world? - Russians are really only second best in Ukraine

@@meso8848 the name of russias only Air craft carrier. They built it, without infrastructure to maintain it. During the war its engines went dead. Needs a complete replacement.
With the Moskva ukraine actually sunk something. With their only carrier, corruption and poor planning did it in.

Radiation not to much an issue that far up but rather is it an EMP weapon?

They did the banns because initially detonations in orbit by both sides showed it created a strong radioactive current trapped in the earth's magnetic feild. Creating a blanket for weeks blocking instruments from seeing or traveling through it. It also damaged the electrical grid. Something like 20% of power sub stations overloaded.

The reason this hasn't happened before are the risks of a launch malfunction dropping a nuke on the launching country and the radiation hazard the remains would inflict, even if it didn't go off on impact.
Provided they get it into orbit, an EMP weapon doesn't have to be all that high, just above the thermosphere, to do damage over a wide area, hitting power grids, unshielded electronics etc. with a massive EMP burst, but radiation wouldn't affect the Earth as such.
Given the limited life span of a nuclear warhead, a long-term stay in orbit isn't practical, because the only way to return it currently is to de-orbit it and use the same systems as a Soyuz to land it safely, or a reusable craft like the Lockheed X-37, so it would most likely be launched only when it is expected to be used.
Also, a malfunction leading to an uncontrolled re-entry could spread radioactive material over a wide area, but a detonation leading to a nuclear blast isn't likely.

If NATO considered it a weapon... It didn't reach orbit... But it didn't even authorize its launch... Putin doesn't move a leaf... Without the authorization of the entire NATO OTAN...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
