- "The layout is 61' x 14'. The scale is On30. O scale is 1/4"= 1ft. The n stands for narrow gauge. The 30 is for 30" between the rails. Some refer to it as 2 1/2 ft gauge. The name if the railroad is the Stephenson, Cedar River, & Eastern Railway. The mile shoreline serves Stephenson, MI, where they interchange with the Standard Gauge Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, Palestine, MI, where there is sugar beet loading and a charcoal kiln operation. At North Lake Jct the railroad serves the Westman sawmill and interchanges traffic with the narrow gauge Westman Dam Lumber Co Railroad. This railroad brings down logs to the sawmill from Camp Teotwawki at Gourley, MI. At Cedar River we encounter the Eastern part of the name, which represents waterborne traffic on Lake Michigan. I started building the layout in 2016". Dave Rickaby graciously shared his layout with Jim and I while we were in Marinette for an appointment! I need some work on my videoing but I enjoyed the demonstration of Daves layout and look forward to seeing his railroad develope. We did find the coal tower Dave mentioned and got there just at dark. The rails are CN's former Chicago & Northwestern line to Marinette. Some of you may be on Dave's RR group "Yooperrails" / 1593657964191635 is Dave's Stephenson, Cedar River & Eastern Railway FB Group

Hello from Skanee in the UP!
I picked the video and started watching. I thought I know that voice. I read below and Saw Jim and I..great video of a wonderful layout.
Thank you for this wonderful model railroad video, Nancy! Dave Rickabys has put a lot of thought into why his model railroad exists and he has done a lot of work to build his railroad. It looks like he has done a lot of patient work to bring about the results that you show us in this video. I hope that you can stop in to visit him and to bring us updates on what additional details he has added to the layout.
I definitely will Thomas!
On30 seems to be getting very popular these days. The advantages of O scale being a modelers scale with the HO realism
I'm your 200 th. Like. And Also a On30 modeler near Lansing Mich.. Love your layout!!!
Daves layout has been added to since I was there-I will have to make a return trip to film the latest additions!

Great layout tour, enjoyed it much. Thanks Nancy.
Thanks!
Love it!
A little something off the beaten path and I like the fact that this type of operation (sans the lake) existed in Southwestern Wisconsin in the mining area on the CNW and the Milwaukee Road near the river in Bellevue Iowa
Merry Christmas Paul!
The line ran between Fenimore up to Woodman on the Wisconsin River and was nicknamed "The Dinky".

Merry Christmas!
Thanks Nancy A Nice Change of pace, great job of filming, My husband is an avid model railroader, he has a 34 X 66 Double deck Ho Scale Layout in our L P Basement, he models the CNW, CP Soo Line on the top deck and the CB&Q and the CN on the lower deck. At our Curtis home he has a 14 X 20 single deck HO Scale layout which just to be different he models the Santa FE. Always nice to see what other modelers are up to.
That sounds amazing Susan-I would love to see it!
Subbed you up Nancy....I love model trains, not so much the real trains though.
Just a suggestion when you're speaking about your layout please turn the locomotive sound way down... Thank you great stuff thanks for posting...
In the uk we use this track for TT 3mm .
