    Billy Idol started as the lead singer, for a British punk band, called Generation X. My daughter and I actually just saw him in concert, back in July. It was a great concert. His Guitar player (Steve Stevens), played the theme song for the Movie, Top Gun, and also played with Michael Jackson a few times. He is a very underrated guitar player, and is an incredible Flamenco guitar player.

      He was part of the Bromley Contingent who were a fashion conscious group of teenagers in the mid 70's. They frequented the King's Road and were at the forefront of the Sex Pistols revolution. If you watch the infamous Bill Grundy show Siouxie from the Banshees is standing on the back right, she was also one of the Bromley Contingent.

    Billy Idol, fantastic singer and showman, and still going strong, all the way back from his original punk days with Gen X in the mid 70s. Steve Stevens is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time as well. Most people use two guitars here, but originally Steve did it with one, mixing the layered parts from the studio for the version. It's kinda tough to play but I love doing it. It sounds so good when you get it all right.

    • @wolf762x51
      @wolf762x51 Před 4 lety

      I made a mistake, the the song I was thinking about was White Wedding, as to the layered portions on the recording being formed into something he could play live and get the same two guitar sound. I mean it gets done a lot, not unique to him, but it's a little tricky to get right. Not hard once you figure it out.

    I have been in love with Billy Idol since he first hit our airwaves (he's from England). I use to dance when I was younger. Came very close to being a pro dancer, (not ballroom just disco, pop and rock). Why didn't I become a pro dancer? My mother. She was very controlling of me and didn't like me involved in anything she wasn't no. 1 in, controlling. Anyhow. I loved dancing to Billy's music. When the music video for "Rebel Yell", by Billy Idol originally aired on MTV, the song became a HUGE hit. I thought that Idol was the "second coming" of Elvis Presley, because no other Rock singer of that generation had this ability to sing like a crooning singer, like Elvis Presley, or Jim Morrison. He did not end up with the same musical impact like Elvis Presley, but Billy Idol had a respectable number of hit recordings and music videos during the 1980s. And a few years ago, Billy Idol became the first Punk Rock singer to have a residency at a Las Vegas hotel/casino.

    Yay, Billy! He was just unique, always loved the snarling when I was young. I can remember being 9 or 10 & dressing as closely to how Billy & Madonna did (the spiky bracelets, rubber jewelry, & lots of lace & netting) & jumping on my bed, punching the air, with this blasting off my stereo.. it was easily my first big anthem i loved to think i was a badass to lol! My fave of his is Dancing with Myself (soooo danceable!!), White Wedding (which is about his sister’s actual wedding), & Eyes without a Face, a mellow tune of his... Billy is timeless, just became an American citizen recently & cares for his parents to this day in England. He’s known for his sense of humour, his close-knit family, &’ love of motorcycles (& accidents)..oh & Ty, the song Hemorrhage is by Fuel, a 90’s band.. except for my least fave song Billy’s (cradle of love) in the early 90’s , Billy was def an 80’s icon.. and i saw him at a small stage venue in NYC approx 15 years ago & he was really awesome!

    I work out to Billy Idol. He's a really cool dude... I met him back in 1990. I've been to 3 of his shows. All of his 80's tunes are revved up and high energy with the exception of a few. I think this song will be at least in your top 10 if you're gonna be running to it. Great song.
    Also, I don't know if I left this message for you on another video but I would love to see you review a song by the band Greta Van Fleet... the lead singer sounds like Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin. They started their band back in 2012 at the ages of 14 and 16 in Michigan. Twin brothers Josh (lead vocals) and Jake(Lead Guitarist) Kiszka with their younger brother Sam(Bass Guitar and Keyboard) and a good friend of theirs Daniel Wagner on drums. The now have 3 LP's out and are one of the hottest up and coming rock groups today. I suggest that you watch their video Highway Tune or Safari Song... all of their song are really good. They just played Lallipalooza last May. Their live performances are amazing.

    For me this is pure energy. Went to see him live years ago and it was one of the best concerts I have been to, I was exhausted after. Amazing. 👊👊

    I know I was a kid, I loved rock & I knew this guy when he hits the raspy part of his voice and the guitarist's riffs awesome combo. Now I listen to it and it brings back memories of the ultimate 80s.

    Love Billy Idol, this is part of the soundtrack of my high school years. It is most definitely a high energy song. Played before a friends motocross races, wrestling matches and softball games. It also has a short appearance in the classic (IMO) movie Sixteen Candles.

    My first concert was Billy Idol Rebel Yell tour in Huntsville, AL! An awesome show, the opening act was Prince's old guitarist Dez Dickerson's band!

    You might recognize him from the movie, "The Wedding Singer," with Adam Sandler. He is the dude on the airplane that looks pretty much EXACTLY like he does here lol, same style of clothing, same hair, everything. He had a lot of great songs back in the 80s, would love to see you react to White Wedding, IIRC you reacted to Eyes Without a Face a while back too.

    I know that the song is about something else, but it always reminds me of being woken up in the middle of the night, walking to the fridge to get the bottle, warming it up and cradling my little one in my arms as he drank himself to sleep again. The song reminds me of parenthood.

    Those guys were rocking so hard EMTs were standing by. Watching it now, seems much more comical than it did back then. Man, his hair isn't just spiked, it's full hedgehog.
