    Darren Jones is (technically was) my MP and came to my door this week. I talked his ear off for 10 minutes straight and when I gave him a chance to move on to the next house, his insisted that he had time to talk about my issues. Good bloke!

      I’ve said this before , please don’t underestimate starmer he is a facilitator , builds a team uses there strengths but above all has faith in there abilities and gets results , i personally think if he’s given the chance will be a transformative prime minister for the uk . As for Darren I think he may be a future leader but he will have to do the hard yards first.

      Jones has done nothing of benefit to his constituents, he continually lies to them, including lying to a local group of remainers to get their support during the 2019 election, who subsequently campaigned with him.
      Yet he is continually promoted in online media, notably by PoliticsJoe, who are owned by a venture capital fund.

      It was about 50% of farmers that voted to Leave, and 5% that didn’t care enough to vote. Sorry bud, but it was them that bought in, got hooked line and sinker and wilfully threw the rest of the British public through the drain. To be honest, I think only the 45-48% of farmers that voted remain should be helped. The rest of them that are now complaining and feeling buyers remorse? I couldn’t give a damn; they did it to themselves.

    Darren Jones is my favourite MP and a breath of fresh air. He sounds posh but he's from Lawrence Weston in Bristol - if you know you know L Dubs. He'd make a great PM one day. Smart, compassionate and as we see here, has a great sense of humour.

    3 things:
    1. Something like 4% of people in the country will pay inheritance tax.
    2. The government do not fuck with council tax, that's a local authority thing.
    3. The £2,000 odd thing is not even a real figure, it's the Tories guessing, and the funny thing is that it wouldn't affect the majority of people anyway.

      I agree with the principle of what you are saying, but the central government does provide a significant amount of local authority funding so there is an impact on the council tax. Since a good number of local authorities are red, it makes sense for the Tories to maximise the council tax and then blame the local authority (keeping quiet in the blue areas)

    I first encountered Darren Jones when I saw videos of him chairing select committees. His clarity and ability to cut through waffle and diversions made him shine. It is great to see him in a more public arena, with the aura of an approachable human being rather than a party-bot, continuing to hit the target.

      He isn’t intelligent. I’ve spoke to him and he is quite slow and gormless when he isn’t prepared. He shies away from his constituents, and avoids hustings meetings, I can only assume he does this because he is doesn’t like being challenged.

      @@rickhirons2409He is my MP. He may come across well when prepared for an interview, BBC debate or select committee, but he is awful when challenged by members of the public. His constituents rarely see him, he has ducked out of hustings events in previous elections and the current election including ducking out of a hustings event on the 15th last week.
      He has taken tens of thousands in donations from big business in recent months, to the tune of over £80,000. This includes over £30,000 in donations from Arup, a business involved in PPP contracts, including PPP contracts for the NHS.

    Had the pleasure of working with Andrew Griffith at Coopers & Lybrand back in the early '90s. He wasn't as odious back then as he is now, but was still not a good bloke to work with. Just always in it for himself.

    Darren should have said "We can't commit to not raising every individual tax for the next 5 years, rather than do what you did in 2019 which was promise not to raise income tax or NI then you did it anyway"

    Truth be told, it's easy to debate with anybody when you know you are telling the truth and fully understand and have confidence in it. Whereas if you are 'manufacturing' something, then there is no foundation, just 'messaging'. Then people see the lack of substance and mentally turn off. Darren is so fascinating because he listens before forming a factual answer. If he doesn't know (and we've witnessed this), he says, 'I don't know'.
