I'm far more hyped over the GH6 than any GH or S series camera Lumix has ever released. WHY? IT IS A GESTALT. Look up the word if you don't know it. The whole is far more than the sum of its parts. Panasonic have simply put huge chunks of their pro video knowledge and tools in a $2200 hybrid camera. The result is a box loaded with professional tools for FILMMAKERS who are PHOTOGRAPHERS, NOT BLOGGERS. CZcams seems to be a rather insular community of reviewers who are all looking for the holy grail of blogging cameras. This is not it. So quit wishing it is! This is a tool made for serious documentary filmmakers, independent filmmakers, advertisers, trainers, corporate videographers, wedding photographers who create hybrid works, and others who need a strong video camera AND a decent stills camera. I will use it for the 100MP stills mode - to copy medium format film negatives. There are many different uses for this besides blogging, so I'm waiting for long form, in-depth reviews from people who actually need it for something other than a walk and talk selfie.
I’m curious as to whether you are directing your comments to me here as I am not a walk and talk blogger or even CZcamsr, this channel so to speak is hear to help others in a way I too have been helped in the past? Also you raise a point I made directly to Panasonic which is why we have not seen the camera in the hand of actual filmmakers, they are very few online currently which is a reason I’m holding of for a bit. Also just because someone post a video doesn’t mean are a part of some ‘CZcams community’ 🤷♂️. As someone who has made films in some of the the categories above but even if I hadn’t my observations are just that, initial thoughts just like yours. I may still buy the GH6 but may wait for reviews. Btw the way serious filmmakers are not running out buying GH6’s as much as I love the line of cameras, they are using Arri’s, Red type cinema camera. Yes you can make films with any camera like the GH5 or GH6 but let’s not push it’s worth beyond. It’s price I would agree with is good, as with all Lumix cameras. I look forward to seeing your work and films in the future as I assume you are a filmmaker.
Lots of things to consider with this camera
Im more tempted by the OM1 because of its AF. Id pair it with the 10-25 fl.7 because that my working focal range.
It definitely has some advantages, I’ll be keeping a keen eye on it 👍
does it still have the focus transition?
I’ve not drilled down into the specifics so I’d advise checking the manual however, Panasonic generally add features rather than remove them.
