  • Turns out that the air fuel mixture screw was adjusted for the plugged up regulator so when I unplugged it the car ran way too rich and stalled....I ended up taking the wur apart and tapped the adjusting pin back out to flush with the body...Had to buy a fuel pressure testor guage to recalibrate the warm up regulator adjustment pin and then reset the air fuel mixture screw back to factory setting.....The engine starts first try every time now.
I ended up putting the finest mesh screen in the middle of the stack......

Had exactly the same problem with my 81 VW Scirocco. Even before I replaced that fuel regulator unit with another one I had, I put both lines that went to it in a jar to purged the lines of anymore contamination. Car actually stared right up, so I knew I had found my problem. Put the other unit on and starts and idles perfectly now. 👍👍

can you do a video on how you set the adjusting pin with the pressure gauge? I'm about to clean out the WUR on my '83 bmw

You probably would be able to use new screens that are used in hash pipes

Howdy All - I just acquired a 1992 Volvo 240 K-Jet Turbo and it has starting issues. The Previous Owner said that his shade tree mechanic mentioned that his choke is not working correctly. This is my first K-Jet and I don't know where to begin. When I go to start the car it refuses to catch. Previous owner said to stay off the gas pedal until after the initial attempt to start her up, but I don't know if this really makes any difference. The engine catches after about half a dozen attempts, but then dies. It take upwards of 15-20 attempts until the engine catches and stays running rough. Then after a couple of minutes the engine settles to a nice idle. Sometimes I have to pump the fuel pedal to keep her running when she does start up. After the engine does idle fine she starts up normally thereafter. Then after sitting for a couple of hours the failed attempts begin again. I'm hoping that when I open the Warm Up Regulator that dirty screens are my quick fix. Does the warm up regulator function more in colder weather or does it function on all start ups... even in 90 degree weather? Thanks for all you help.

Hi, what tools did you use to get the screens out?
