Hi I'm planning on starting a small business doing labels for storage jars etc... What is the best software to use for the various text styles ? Thanks your videos have helped me to choose the cricut machine too so thanks!
Hi that’s great! I love the program Inkscape because it’s free to download and use, and pretty easy to learn. And you can save your work as svg, png, or pdf. It also has a built in page outline so you can lay out your labels to fit the page. Then just export the whole page or print from there. You can manipulate text as you want also. I have a few tutorials on my channel. I think Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop are great but they do cost monthly. Hope that helps!
Hey Christy could you explain to me what that Cricut easypress thing is used for because I don't see you using it on your wood signs. I purchased some vinyls from someone because I don't have a cutting machine yet and when I put them down they didn't feel like they were sealed well. In other words I feel like the weather might affect & lift the vinyls. Maybe that's just me do you think I should apply a polyurethane? Or do I need to iron them onto the wood? I just don't want to make a sign for somebody and have the vinyls come off.
Of course! The Easypress is used for iron-on vinyl (or HTV). It is completely different from adhesive vinyl, which is what I use on signs. You can sometimes iron on wood with iron-on vinyl but I don't like to. With adhesive vinyl you need to make sure all the letters are completely down before you seal (and I would put some sort of sealant if you are using removable). . If not the sealant will curl the letters. I would use permanent vinyl if you have doubt about it sticking well.
@@AppalachianHomeCo Thank you Christy for this great info. I did not realize all the different vinyls out there...I am thinking the vinyl letters I purchased were not the adhesive kind. Which might be why they don't feel secure. Do you have a favorite sealant suggestion? I need to get brave and buy my own cutting machine and know what vinyl I'm getting lol..
Lucy L. 🥺Sorry about your vinyl there are so many different kinds! I typically use Mod Podge Spray Sealer because you can get it in matte finish and it goes on in a fine spray. I’m sure there are others too but that’s the one I use. You would really enjoy a cutter!
@@AppalachianHomeCo Thanks again Christy I'm learning something new again. Didn't know Mod Podge made a spray sealer never saw it near the regular mod podge that I buy. When I think sealer I always think Home Depot for their sealers. Wrong...lol.
Thanks so much! I actually found it on Dafont.com for free (personal use). Creative Market has it for download commercially. I just used the free version for now since it was for my home. They are “Clear Line” and “American Brewery”.
I will be uploading the numbers but they are super easy to do as well. I haven't uploaded the large image yet, I need to purchase a commercial license for these fonts before I can post but if you are interested I will try and have these out for you all. I found the free version (which is what I used on the sign) on Dafont.com. Creative Market has a commercial version, as well as some other sites.
Laurie W So sorry! 🤭I think that is the font I used on the cutting board. The Laundry font is called Clear Line and the other letters at the bottom are called American Brewery, both are on Dafont and Creative Market.
Hi I think I have the PNG posted on my website for free (the Appalachian home.com) but I can definitely post the svg on Etsy if you would want that version!
Nicole Crouch I’m so excited for you! The PNG is free on my website and it will work great 👍 SVGs are “better” as far as resizing some images and they upload to Design space with fewer steps . You just need to chose “complex” when uploading the PNG, then save as a cut file. Hope that helps!
Beautiful Laundry Sign Girl!
Click on the free image stating not found. Tried go to website had no luck either. Thank You for all your help. 🤩🖤🤩🖤🤩
I'm sorry about the website I have to rebuild the entire thing. I hope to have all the links back soon!

Thank you so much for the comment! You should definitely, I'm thinking of doing a kitchen sign too . . I love this method.
love the frame method. Have you tried painting the borders then painting the center piece? I think a stain or faux stain look would be beautiful.
Fabulous
Elaine Jackson Thanks so much!!😀

I love your videos but when I click for your free svgs it says that they are not found?
Hi thank you! Sorry about that I am working on my website ... I will post a link for all my files when I have them uploaded.
Awesome!!!!! I wish my laundry room was big enough for this. Love the "no frame" sign. What vinyl did you use?
Thanks so much!! Me too I love making signs this way so less complicated. I used a Oracal 631 removable vinyl in glossy white.

Can we buy this sign to upload and make our own? Do you have it Available
