    do not let wooden stars intimidate you! these stars only take two separate pieces each and two angles. You can avoid the table saw altogether if you purchase a few 1"x2"x8"s. The jig is simple to build and use. If you have watched and built the jig for my nesting tree videos, it has the same angles and can be used in place of this jig.
    Using the walk through tutorial you can build an additional third star if desired.

    One thing I noticed that will help with your pieces wandering away on you. You want to pull the saw out, drop it down and make the cut while pushing it inward.
    Awesome video as always.

    I have made & sold plenty of stars, specifically for Dallas Cowboys fans. The angles are definitely 54º AND 36º.
    I've also accidentally made a star with 54º & 34º and let me tell you the star was completely off & catawampus since I was off by 2º, then multiply that over 5 corners. I realized my mistake once I went for a fit.
    Great video, nonetheless!

    I'm liking it all.
    The delivery is direct and easy to understand. Just the right amount of fun while still being short and sweet. Your skills are noticeably improving.
    The projects are great for this beginner woodworker with limited tools (and funds).
    And as a huge bonus your plans are free! I understand the value of them, but just starting out as i am, and times being what they are, its a big deal.
    Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.

    Note when using a sliding miter saw, you should pull it out pass your piece being cut, power up the blade and then drop the blade down and push through the work piece. This is know as a down cut. The way your using your saw is a climb cut and is a potential hazard to yourself. If the blade kicks, it will jump and come towards.

    Questions: what blade are you using on your miter saw? I notice you rarely have tear out. Also, what is the angle of the piece you were sliding between the two pieces when another together? Thanks for another great video. I’m going to make these tomorrow. I think I’m going to make 3 sizes

    • @WhosTheVoss
      @WhosTheVoss  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I use a spyder blade, they seem to stay sharp for a really long time. The board is a 54 degree extra cut, helps to keep my fingers away from the nailer :)

    Shouldn't one angle be 36 rather than 34

      Each joint needs to add up to 90° so all the sides meet together :)
