I bought an 04 landcruiser about 15 yrs ago. Lightly used. If “never leaving me stranded” counts as “lack of excitement” you are correct. At 260K i coolant hose clamp let go, sitting in a parking lot. Other than that, and a dead battery or 2, it keeps running. Getting close to 300K now. No regrets. The interior is fine. My wife at a 17 GX460. I’d rather an 04 with a dated dash than a 17 with a dated dash. At least my interior is “age appropriate”. 😂

I agree! It's so much better than all the new vehicles that are electric. Or take 2 years to get otherwise. Reviewing cars that we won't see on the road for 5 to 10 years mean nothing to the average person.
. Older vehicle reviews are still the most practical out there. And fun when you can think "I could get one of those"

I am at 452k on my 1998 100 . Still runs and drives as well as it did the day I bought it new. Is it as nice as my 200 Series? No. But it is still a great vehicle and requires almost no expense other than regular maintenance and gas.
I had a G65 G Wagen for a while as well. It was nice as well but the electrical gremlins and the rattling plastic in an otherwise vault like interior forced me to get rid of it.
Keep up the great work! One of my favorite series on the channel!

I owned a Land Cruiser 80 (LHD, 1HDT) and 100 (Restyle). I can say that I have not seen more reliable cars. Yes, my 80 was old, but after normal maintenance, I only changed oils. The old Toyota turbodiesel is just perfection, 12 valves, a mechanical fuel pump, and no electrics. He only needs a little electricity for the injection fuel cut-off valve. She can go without a generator, only on the battery as much as necessary. Three locks, leather interior, heated seats. Oh, damn it, it's still a pity that I sold it. And my 100 is restyled, the car was from New York, and the mileage was more than 300 thousand miles. Very comfortable, reliable, three rows of seats, wherever we went with children, nephews, mother-in-law, and wife)) When I owned these cars, I lived in Yakutia. It's a very harsh place, with a very, very cold winter, a very hot summer, and very bad roads. At the time of sale, the total combined mileage of both cars exceeded one million kilometers, more than six hundred thousand miles. Imagine how far these cars have traveled, and they continue to wind kilometers on the cardan! Just fantastic, they can be inherited from generation to generation. Now I no longer live in Yakutia, I am on the way to my dream, to the garage of my dreams, and there will definitely be a place for a Land Cruiser 80 and 100 in it.

@@Schwarttzy I believe your opinion will be the one that changes if the driver is capable.
G-wagen has a reasonably short wheel-base, excellent approach/departure angles, solid front axle, sway-bar disconnects, and triple lockers.
To excel at rock crawling it just needs a different wheel/tire.
G-wagon will embarrass a Tacoma or H3 off road, compete well with a Wrangler, and embarrass all of them on the dunes.

I love toyota and also AMG but I think I'd buy a LX over a g wagon and the building quality and reliability of the G wagon in way better than anything Range Rover puts out

I love the 3 vehicles I think the Toyota would have less miles that would be the winner for me. But what you saying the Mercedes is one heck of a offroad or/status vehiclet, you need some serious coin to own.

WOW! I'd have bought that LandCruiser in a heart-beat. None of the issues were terminal and the engine sounded solid.
    H2s? 😂😂😂😂🤣 No!

Don’t entirely know what was wrong with that Land Cruiser, but I think that was a steal at that price. 2WD Sequoias of that era go for that price

I think most of it is due to the lack of inspections in many states that doesn't encourage scrapping older cars. When I lived in the UK and Germany, older cars were not affordable to pass MOT/TUV and were cheaper to junk than repair. Those little oil leaks and body rust holes would not be a terminal problem for most in the states because nobody is making you fix them every year.
