    A lot of changes are needed. New goalie, another legitimate top 4 RHD and a top 6 winger. Maybe then they’ll have a chance.
    Granted if they can’t get a top 6 winger, I can see a scenario where it would benefit the team to move Norris to the wing and put Pinto at 2C

    Love the idea of getting a veteran 3C and moving guys like Greig, Norris and even potentially Pinto to the wing. I think it depends a lot on what's available in trade or free agency

    There is NO DOUBT my Sens will be very competive this year. Right from the get go they'll have a COACH not hangers on from years gone by. Rather than being among the League's worst on the PP and PK, the new staff WILL take advantage of the player's speed and skill. IF Staios is worth his salt (he hasn't done ANYTHING great yet), he'll shore up the porous defence and poor goaltending. This hockey club is very talented abd a lot of fun to watch. They SHOULD be in the top 10 in GF and among the BEST with the man Advantage! A good Coach can make this happen and will build a winning attitude. Will this Team be competitive...they damn well should be. There are wonderful players under contract and the Organization SHOULD get a very good young player with their 7th overall draft pick. The rest is up to the GM... oxt of the heavy lifting has been done for you...go fill the holes please. There are NO EXCUSES.

    I’ve spent what feels like a thousand years being a pre season optimist. And every year that optimism bends me over and gives me a thorough rodgering around about the end of November.
    I’ll be approaching this forthcoming season with extreme caution…

      @user-md3ij9oc9q Před 21 dnem

      That is the right approach. They need 4Fs and 2Ds ignoring any moves and have $11-$12M. Team will be very similar to this year.

  • @christopherstauffer8487

    Anthony Duclaire is a good option as middle 6 left winger.

    I'm not sure they'll change the goaltending. Goalies that have passed through Ottawa tend to look better before they come, and then look better after they leave. Hard to evaluate what you've got when the team is asking too much of the goalies. I would hold off on major changes until the team's defensive play improves significantly. Then re-assess the goalies and make changes as needed.

      @carbb5760 Před 21 dnem

      Agree, I think they look at maybe swapping forsberg and having 1 new goalie.

    I don't know if I would want him back, what about Demelo?

  • @user-md3ij9oc9q
    @user-md3ij9oc9q Před 21 dnem

    You should spend about $5-$6M on your bottom D pairing. The problem is we don’t currently have cap space to do it. Assuming we resign Pinto around $5M and pass on MacEwen and Kastelic, you need 4Fs and at least 2Ds and only have about $12M. The Sens will look very similar to this year. The only way Sens get better (bc all have long expensive contracts) is with cap going up.. will take at least 2-3 yrs to be able to really change the roster (unless cap goes way up quickly).

    I doubt tony hand ever got tired of getting a couple points a game in the UK over his 30+ year pro career. Thats a fun elite prospects page to look at, his best season was right after he decided not to play in the NHL, where he got a hat trick and 6 points a game over 35 games. 105 goals, 111 assists for 216 points in 35 games. His highest point total for a season was 222, but that was over 44 games, so only 5 points per game, the bum(obv /j). Maybe you can hunt him down and interview him, ask him if scoring got boring!

    So we're talking about Steve "patience" Staios here...not sure he's capable of making any moves other than not qualifying Branny. Fingers crossed Bowness & Pouly assist to sign Pinto...even to a bridge deal.

    I could see a scenario where Korpisalo gets traded if salary is retained. He's looked pretty good in previous years, so if someone takes this season as an outlier, and can get him for 2 million a season, that can be alright for a backup who has shown flashes of being able to be a 1b. If a GM felt strongly enough that Korpisalo from 22-23 could make a comeback, I dont think it's impossible. We'd get a bag of pucks back and probably have to throw in another asset, though.

    • @user-md3ij9oc9q
      @user-md3ij9oc9q Před 21 dnem

      0 chance of that. You need 4Fs and 2Ds and only have $11-$12M. Not a chance you can retain salary.

    Staios has a few moves to make, but not the ones fans are expecting/ hoping.
    Even if if he can get either of Swayman or Ulmark, the team should carry 3 goalies next year. I expect to see a lot more of Sogaard due to the cap structure.
    The LD is set. The need to keep both Chychrun & Chabot became apparent when injuries to either happen. Braanstroms value is as the only one who can be played anywhere (including forward) on as needed basis.
    The RD needs Harmonic to be put on LTIR, with all due respect. Potentially freeing up $1.1 mil. Another smart defensive top 4 RD is needed then.
    Up front, Norris needs to move to the wing, for now, due to his current fragility. An experienced LW who's definitely a top 6 would be ideal. Everyone would be into roles more ideal for themselves. Braanstrom could fill in on the LW situationally in the bottom 9.
    3 goalies with Sogaard brought up due to inability to get a Swayman or equivalent.
    1 big addition on the RD means with Hamonic on LTIR, they would have 7 D (including Braanstrom)
    13 forwards (including Braanstrom) if they sign a top 6 LW.
    The Sens would be maxed out on roster spots with the above scenario.
    All this is of course is if these players can stay healthy all season.
    I expect to hear rumours next month about discussion of the cap going up an additional 5% to about $91.5 mil for next season. This give them $17 mil in cap space to sign 2 UFA's, Pinto, Kelly Braanstrom & Sogaard.
    Of course I'm usually wrong lol

    Swap out 3 on defence- I’d like sandy zub and chychrun back get rid of the rest.
    Bring in 1 new goalie- keep korpisalo
    Probably need 2-3 new forwards for the bottom 6
    Plan the parade

    My guys, I won’t accept that Korpisalo is unmovable. I want to hold Staios to a high standard. Would VGK just accept that their goalie is untradable? No. Good orgs don’t sit on their mistakes. They acquire when others are dumping and let players go when they have to. Staios needs to fix goaltending. Keeping Korpisalo means playing him. They won’t bench or bury him and it’s late to find a plan B once the season starts. He needs to go or get bought out. Another season with him is a wasted season…and what will Brady say at the end of another wasted season? Yikes.
