    Thanks Erik.
    Very informative, well explained and presented video. Our rugby league season starts this coming Sunday and I propose customising my AF-On & AEL buttons according to your instructions.
    I tend to shoot Sport In Aperture mode, ISO Min SS in ISO Auto at 1/000, or even 1/500, using the shutter set to Relesse. I guess if it works for weddings, it should work for fast moving and very pretty rugby players 😄
    Thanks agai Eric. Will try and let you know how it goes 👍🙁

    nice tuto. For me, face and eye priority would mean that wherever is my spot, it jumps on the eye. But, as you explain, spot must enter the square on face to make it work. This is not priority at all !!! Eye AF is amazing, even in BBF AFON, blur EVF, pressing eye af (i put on focus hold button of my 24-70gm2) jumps on the eye wherever is my spot. Why did sony made two different "eye priority" ? the face/eye priorit is just to draw a box around a face so i am confident that if i press eye af, it will jump on an eye. Without face priority i would have a doubt pressing eye af.

    I use the Eye AF on wide focus mode. Because if the subject leaves the red box area you have then Eye AF no longer works. With wide mode it will track theyre eye throughout the whole screen.

      @erikdurnall9585  Před 2 lety +1

      That is how back button tracking works. I demonstrate that in this video.

    Every Sony a7iv does have big eye af. Eyeball doesn't get any tack Sharp in AF-C and AF-S mode.

  • @sandithawickramasinghe2789

    Thank you very much Erik. That was very useful indeed. Also have you noticed that there's a redundant menu item 'Eye AF on/off' and 'Eye AF sel' on the same menu when you are in dial customize menu?

    • @erikdurnall9585
      @erikdurnall9585  Před 2 lety +1

      You’re welcome! I think for those two menu items, one is a toggle command and the other is switch. Another function similar in that way is Silent Shooting and Electronic shutter.. One is a toggle and the other is a submenu switch.

    do you put face priority off in situations where a lot of people are in the frame, but you only want to focus on the bride or on the singer in a band? don't you loose focus of your main character if you left it on?

      Unfortunately it would be an enormous undertaking to write out or even demonstrate all the changes and functions in their entirety. I’m hoping to get information from people who have questions about specific functions and features and how to access or change them. I will do my best to make a more detailed explanation of the advance functions, but if you have any questions about specific things, I can do my best to answer them for you.

    Eye priority vs. Eye only? I'm still confused.
    But I wanted to ask, since I'm more interested in video, if I were to set the camera on a gimbal, does EyeAF require I hold down a button for it to track the person's eye? Or can you I just set EyeAF to on and wide area focus it, and it'll track continuously without having to hold a button down?
