Most of Zhou Shen's fans love his music not just because he can sing high notes. He is loved as he can bring the fans into the emotions of his songs, be it amusement, joy, beauty, relaxation, sadness, dreaminess, triumph, anxiety, scariness, annoyance, defiance, and feeling pumped up.
We find him to be amazing for all the above reasons. Very different and entertaining
Zhou Shen sang this song in early 2020 without live audiences when China was hit by COVID-19 the hardest. People were scared. He picked this song to give audiences the hope against the Monster that is the Covid. Although the song does not do his justice when it comes to his singing chops and not his typical style, it is cheerful and fits what’s going on in China very well.

The Singer show was the best competition show in China. It invited experienced singers to challenge each other in the show, the show lasted 8 years. The show promoted best musicians to preform with singers, best stages and sound quality, public audience voted for the singer to win right after they heard the live stage. During 2020, after the 2nd on stage performance, Covid-19 pandemic hit China, the government shutdown all cities. So Charlie went back to Shanghai quarantined at home for 2 weeks. They were healing them to say it is ok, it will be over, and support to all of the health care workers to fight with an unknown pandemic which it had no cures at that time, and with people died everyday. 😭 The monster was the 1st song he sang after his quarantines in a small studio in Shanghai. Sorry, this message is kind of long.

Composer n original singer is Katie Skyes from UK. She ws so impressed by him, she admitted dat she cudnt hit d high notes in hs cover.
She wrote d song to exspress d problms faced by ppl wth psychiatric illness, in particular their hallucinations n delusions.

He filmed this in another studio, because this season was during 2020 covid pandemic and the artists couldn't fly to the TV studio, instead they filmed in studios where they are at.
Zhou Shen (pronounced more like Jou Shen) chose this song to encourage people that are suffering from the pandemic, telling people "You are not alone, we see your pain and we will conquer this all together" :)
Most artists that were in this competition chose songs like that to comfort people's hearts and to spread hope and love during that difficult time~

LOL, you guys got to the point that you’re expecting ＂Amazing＂，＂Exploding＂ on every performance, just like I did before. However, just like Charlie Zhou Shen said last year：［People are expecting me to show them ＂amazing＂ every times, there are not that many of ＂Amazing＂， I am just a singer！。］he humbly said that in an interview 2021. I don’t expect Charlie to do wonderful every times（he can make mistakes too), but, I still feel Amazing on his live performances. Personally I feel the best part of Charlie that is he can deliver a warm healing power in his songs that touch your heart. I will feel happy or sad (laugh out loud or crying crazy ) following with his singing. (It never happened to me before him). Big universe has big story, small world has small beauty. If you can understand the lyrics and the background of the songs, that will help you to feel a lot more what I am trying to say here. There are many of his songs are translated into 8 languages that may help.

Love you guys' reactions. Hope you guys react more Zhou Shen's songs. He is a rising star in China and hope he can be an international star like MJ one day. We love him not only because of his voice, but also his humble and nice characters. He is a big star on the stage, but out of the stage, he is just like your brother.
If you guys don't like "Monsters", and are looking for something different, then I recommend "Ring the door bell and listen" in "Singer 2020" performance, and "Song of Heaven Island" as well. You guys will be impressed by him again and again.

If you don’t like pop songs, I highly recommend you reacting Zhou Shen’s “Ring the bell and listen”. This is one of the best performance from ZS I have ever heard. My favourite song. The song is dark, mysterious, creepy, haunting, cause people feeling scared. It showed a different ZS, he was so sexy in the performance. ZS’s vocal & breath control were superb. Monsters might be a nice poppy song but I completely agree with you that it is no challenge at all for Zhou Shen. If you prefer more serious stuff I highly recommend "Upwards to the moon" (his duet with Sa Dingding), "Ring the doorbell, listen by myself" or "Baby Dosvedanya".

Like some one said this was when covid hit, the show Singer had done two shows and then covid hit and they had to stop filming and when they started again they all had to stay in there own states and Zhou Shen was stuck in his house so he did ep 3/4 in his house and Monsters was the first song he could leave the house for. That's why he is so lively singing this.

What's amazing about Zhou Shen's voice is not only about how his voice is female like but also how perfect the range of his voice is. His natural voice is slightly deeper than the majority of female singers' so it sounds more soothing and richer, and higher than almost all male singers, making it catch your ears better!

It's called 和光同春 (One Earth One Spring), and it's used as the theme song for COP15 UN Convention regarding bio-diversity. To put it simply, Zhou Shen's voice fits beautifully with the visual images of flora and fauna. (the MV has English subtitles) Feel free to check it out if it interests you!
Listen to him singing “Think of Me” of Phantom of the Opera & his many duets with HKG singer Li KeQin in an old singer/new singer pair competition show. They wiped out the other pairs. The show showed Zhou Sheen’s range and depth of his musical skills. He even rap sing with his partner wonderfully. All of China couldn’t get enuf of him too. Plus he’s humble and funny at the same time which endears him to his fans. ZS graduated from Ukraine’s Lviv Conservatory of Music (founded by Mozarts son). I believe he’s got a great photographic ear and memory.
PS Those other people the camera sometimes cuts too are the other pairs in the friendly competition. Zhou is 29 now. He used to be a highly shy person but has gotten better. He still looks like a high school kid.
PPS when Zhou joined his 1st Voice competition at age 21, he was eliminated by one female judge (whom I highly detested bcoz she & 2 other male singers denigrated a very good fellow composer singer 14 years ago whose one song not only sold 270 million copies within a day alone!!? His music is love by ordinary Chinese across an entire section of China. No singer in China let alone the world has broken this sales record. She claimed his songs are suitable only for farmers, which was a big insult to many fans. Regardless that singer’s every song was/is a hit and many have become song classics. Dao Lang or translated Sharp Wolf has a voice akin to Rod Stewart. His lyrics are meaningful that reflected the lives and loves of ordinary folks. The stories & melodies he composed are marvelously unique & wonderful. He’s composed more than 1500 songs but have only recorded maybe 250 or so.) That judge is called NA Ying . She is just an average singer who doesn’t sell many records . Wonder why they keep her as a judge. She talks too much. Suggest you do a video on Dao Lang.

1st time I listened to Zhou Shen due to drama ost. Sword and The Brocade. I really like the lyrics, very poetry.
Then I was shocked when I found out the singer was a man (iniatially I thought is she) so I became intrigued of him n listening to all his songs (blindly). Monster is 1 of my fav due to its lyrics meaning so I watched the original MV n figured Zhou Shen covered the song. I also listened to the original song, very different in my opinion.
Zhou Shen has sung so many AMAZING songs, ofc he OWNS his own songs. BIG FISH is 1 of his biggest hits that made him into a superstar.

This is the first time I leave a comment on your channel, but I feel like I have to say something. I can’t agree more when you guys said liking his singing but not the song. I always think Zhou Shen can do so much more, but there are not too much good songs out there that match his singing abilities. He had a lot of new songs came out this past two years, he treated everything single one seriously and sang very well, but honestly I think most of the songs are too average, nothing special. According to my personal taste, I recommend: “The song of heaven island”- perfect for Halloween 😁; “Painting silk”- a song with Chinese traditional style; and most songs in Singer 2020 are not bad. Sorry I don’t know how to put links here, but you’ll find them if you search the title with Zhou Shen’s name.

Not sure what you like in terms of music styles, other than no pop lol, but if you're interested in exploring some music styles that are relatively obscure in the West, and if you're interested in some absolutely stellar performances with Zhou Shen singing together with other highly skilled vocalists, here are some recommendations that are lesser known to Western fans and rarely reacted to by reactors:
Russian song known to the Chinese as "Hawthorn Tree", performed for a competition that focused on musical theatre vocalists. (Zhou Shen also sang songs like "Memory", and "Time to Say Goodbye" for this competition)

《另一种乡愁》("Subaru") No English subtitles, but in Asia it's a really, really well-known Japanese song about homesickness. Performed for a competition that teams up professional singers from different generations.

"All the Lovers in the World (天下有情人)", duet between Zhou Shen and one of his best vocal partners, Hacken Lee. Also performed for the same show that teams up singers from different generations. Very hard song to sing and rarely performed for competitions, cuz it's a duet that demands a lot of musical ability and compatibility from the singing pair.

I found ZS around 1,5 years ago and I've been listening to his song everyday since. It was not his high notes over the top singing that makes me love ZS, but the feeling that he put into every song he sing no matter what kind of song it is, and the voice of course 😍 He's a very humble guy n doesn't like to show off.. much 😀
I'm glad that he got more n more recognization from all over the world cause he truly deserves it.
