Exploring Weehawken, New Jersey. A Pleasant Town with the Best New York City Views

  • I take the ferry across the Hudson River to spend a day exploring Weehawken, NJ. The town has the best Manhattan skyline views that stretch from the George Washington Bridge all the way to Lower Manhattan and beyond. For lunch, I get pizza at Romano Pizza and then check out the historic Weehawken Water Tower. Next, I explore Hamilton Park and the infamous dueling grounds. This was the sight of Alexander Hamilton’s and Arron Burr’s duel. After that, I check out some of the town’s beautiful homes before taking the ferry back to NYC.

    We only lived in Weehawken for about a year, but will always treasure the experience of getting off the bus on Boulevard East at night and seeing that stunning skyline. Also? Commuting to lower Manhattan on the ferry was THE HANDS DOWN best experience ever. Miss that so much. Signed, a California Girl who will always have a part of her heart that belongs to NYC.

      Nice! Yeah, that view was epic! And the ferry was so easy and convenient, but combined with the amazing NYC skyline made it an incredible ride!

    I'm from the EU living in L.A but I've bought a house on King ave. early this year , renovated it and moved in 2 months ago.
    I'm not planning to move out of L.A yet but I'll stay till january because I'll fly in my family and relatives and host a x-mass/NY dinner/party to show of my new house, But once I'll have children I'll probably move here permanently since its a good place to raise a family. Its pretty much a subburb with one of the greates views you'd imagine especially on the evenings next to one of the most populated cities in the world. Also its pretty safe if the sea levels rise :).and a safe place per se. There aren't that many good food places apart some pizza places but thats why you've Manhattan for.
    The only things that aren't great about that place are the property tax, mcdonalds not delivering to my house even tho white castle that is farther away does. and the train noises, i don't hear them since i grew up close enough to a train station to hear the trains sometimes but it sure must bother some people considering they're lie 30 below our houses.

    • @Jamesnu
      @Jamesnu  Před 2 lety

      Indeed! It's a nice place. Although, it's not perfect, but it has a lot going for it. Plus, the ferry is so easy to take and get to Manhattan.

    Which ferry and until when?

      @Jamesnu  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! I took the NY Waterway ferry from the Midtown / W. 39th St. ferry stop to Port Imperial in Weehawken. The boats run very frequently throughout the day so you won’t have any problem catching one.

    There seems to be nothing at all to explore in Weehawken except the fabulous skyline of Manhattan. Weehawken seems to be a No Man's Land bumped up against the Land of Everyman. Perhaps Weehawken is a fluke. I would choose to explore Brooklyn Heights instead. Same spectacular views, but much spectacular activity going on over there as well.

    • @Jamesnu
      @Jamesnu  Před 3 lety

      I hear you, the views of Manhattan where easily my highlight for Weehawken. Brooklyn Heights is great and the views of Lower Manhattan are far superior. However, the Midtown Manhattan views combined with the elevation of Weehawken are incomparable. Still, I agree, the town doesn't have the energy of NYC, but I still enjoyed my time there.

    • @Jamesnu
      @Jamesnu  Před 3 lety

      @mark watson You’re right! It isn’t NYC. It’s just that when Manhattan is minutes away it can be hard not to think of NYC.
