The belt really seems unreliable, have you considered a small chain instead?
Considered, yes, but it's a lot heavier than belt and doesn't slip so it is harder on the weapon motor.
TeamVelocity what about using two belts in parallel? Or connecting the spinner to an intermediate shaft with a chain, then connect it to the motor with a belt. The belt and intermediate shaft are safe inside the body
