It seems to me that the creatures are previous townspeople. Perhaps all from the same previous generation of the town. Like they all look like they are from the 50’s. And Victor talked about that one set of cars that is beyond the other set of cars that was already there when he got there. And then when the smiley face creature enters the bus, he starts to pretend to drive it as though he remembers something from his previous life. And, of course, Smiley’s autopsy reveals that the monsters have human anatomy.

It's weird, because the townspeople don't seem to be turning into anything, and they're basically always torn apart when the monsters get them.

If you look at the school where Kristi lives, you'll see there's a stage set up with lights and rows of chairs facing it.
There's old Halloween decorations on the stage.
The monsters are all so different- a cowboy, mechanic, milkman, nurse, etc. because THEY'RE WEARING HOMEMADE COSTUMES. Whatever happened in the 50's happened on Halloween at the school and there was a dance- explaining why some monsters are in costume and others- like Jazmine, Smiley and the black debutante are all dressed like it's prom. Some monsters, like the Professor or the Grannie were teachers or chaperones.
I think they were all sacrificed to something.
I also think Elgin's grandmother was present in that wave- somehow she escaped and, on the nursing home, told Elgin about Fromville. That's why he knows stuff like the Brundels pond.
      That's my theory, anyway.

The whole "it's a government experiment" theory makes no sense. These are MONSTERS we are dealing with, as well as the power lines that extend under the house leading to nowhere. Whatever is doing this is supernatural. I mean, they could go down "The Matrix" road where it's all VR, but that would be boring. Also, Tabitha not actually making it out would also be boring (not saying that the writers wouldn't play that card though).
The other thing that bugs me is the weather is said to always be nice no matter how much time passes, then in season 2 the weather begins to change. There's also the dates in the lighthouse(?) that stretch back hundreds of years. I'm thinking it's supernatural entity/force that feeds on fear. Every time someone dies, it inspires fear. When new people show it inspires fear. The visions some people experience ultimately inspires fear.
Tabitha digging under the house and her husband building the radio tower kind of inspires hope or the very least lessons the fear, and the entity(s) don't like that so it changes the rules or at least ups the difficultly, like when the rats get too used to the maze.

I had a theory (not the only one) about the monsters being inspired by creatures called Sluagh from Irish/Scottish folklore. It doesn't fit the location nor how the creatures represent themselves but there are a lot of reasons why I feel like they're at least INSPIRED by them. And I believe Sluaghs were said to fly "in from the west" so..
They're a type of fae but fae can actually be pretty evil haha. Sluaghs in particular are known for being restless and malevolent. They gain powers from human souls, especially the souls of those that are dying or sad. They are said to be able to shapeshift into birds, thus they could be the crows watching them during the day. When they are in their human-like form, they are said to appear old, thin, and haggard with long appendages that end in sharp claws, and to have gnarled teeth protruding from a beak-like mouth. They show this form before killing, perhaps using glamour beforehand to appear more human or maybe they were human once upon a time and resume their original human form when they're not attacking.
Two main theories sit behind the creation of Sluaghs - 1. They are unrest souls of the dead, specifically people who were exceptionally evil and cruel during their lives ooorrr 2. They're actually a form of fae where something went horribly wrong (think of the falmer living underground in Skyrim being elves or orcs in lord of the rings being corrupted elves).
Sluaghs are also often associated with "the wild hunt" and enjoy hunting for pleasure. They can be blocked by windows and doors, and they cannot enter a home unless one is opened for them. They are most active during the night and like to hide in dark forgotten places (ie the caves/tunnels) during the day.
I think it's also worth noting that fae in general are "known" to create portals to other worlds/pocket dimensions and enjoy toying with humans. I think them being tied to the fae would also explain things like the faraway trees. It is also said to bring bad fortune to those that cut them down. Maybe the tree in the road is a fallen faraway tree? I'm rewatching season two now so I'm a little fuzzy on certain details but perhaps that's what happened before? The Sluaghs created a portal via faraway tree, the humans cut it down, and sluaghs seek revenge? I don't recall how everyone died when Victor was a child.. if it was the monsters or something else.. so I'm probably way off on that one but eh, figured it was worth mentioning anyway.
Buuuuut then whatever happened to Tabitha at the end of season 2 kinda shat on my theory haha. Unless it's just a deeper part of the realm they created. I am curious about what's "worse" in the woods and such - spiders play a role pretty early on but are seen as "inspiring" or "lucky" in Irish/Scottish lore because their web represents "if at first you don't succeed, try try and try again", which is something brought up in conversations several times - is it worth trying something again that has failed before? But I don't know if I'd consider what happened to Boyd lucky.. it gave him options and such but that damned Ballerina scares me. Now my theory is... idk probably is a government experiment haha.

    The monsters DON'T EAT ANYTHING.
Even the Jasmine monster spit that one idiot's tongue out.
They disembowel people in a ritualistic way- tearing out the tongue and disemboweling them- but no bite marks. No monsters with bloody mouths.
Also, why did The Voices have Sarah murder Toby in a way to match what the monsters do?
The same voices had Sarah leave the door to that same room open so the monsters could get inside- so they would have killed Toby the same way anyway!
So- why was Toby special? Would he have recognized the monsters somehow? Maybe he'd know what was happening?
Maybe the mutilation of the bodies prevents the dead from returning as monsters? That doesn't seem the case, since townspeople that kill themselves don't return- neither did Sarah's brother.
We do know the town keeps exact numbers of people - if you count all the people dead in season one, they're all replaced by the Matthews family and Jade, plus the people from the bus that don't get killed by the monsters.
    Exactly the same number.
It's a terrarium- just like one of Victor's drawings that shows the town in a glass bottle (even showing the monster tunnels beneath it!).
I think whatever is running things wiped out the town and started over at some point- removing the sole survivor- Victor- and he saw the town from outside the... experiment, for want of a more precise term.
    I think that's what broke Victor's mind.

I don't think the monsters need to inflict any kind of mental trauma for sustenance or anything, but they do so because that is their very reason for existing.
I think that Fromville is a place where certain people are capable of making their imaginations real. Victor and Boyd at least are capable of doing so. Boyd's hero complex inspired him to imagine into existence both the animals they eat as well as the talismans that protect them. Victor did the same with the monsters. The man in the photo did something that caused severe psychological harm to Victor and it made him see people as monsters that relish causing psychological harm to people, that thought was strong enough that Fromville manifested human-like monsters that relish causing psychological harm to people.

      It's labeled as a "Sci-Fi Horror" show.
So, my bet is on some sort of malfunctioning or misplaced advanced alien technology.
*Any sufficiently advanced technology, would appear as magic to a less developed perspective.*
Notice how the town doesn't make much sense? It's all aesthetic and form. They have power, but the wires don't lead to anything. They have livestock, but nobody knows where the animals come from, etc etc.
Almost like their human habitat is being emulated, rather than actually replicated.
This could be some sort of crashed alien ship, with different biomes and "pocket realities" meant to house a bunch of different species.
      One of those species: Humans
This could be like some sort of highly advanced Noah's Ark.
The three lines could be three intersecting pocket realities, which allows the species of those realities to interact.
Some alien species have been trapped there a very long time. Others (humans and earth animals) have been wandering into the "anomaly" created by the ship.
The real question, to me, is:
Who or what was piloting this ship...and is it still alive?

I'm really thinking the town is a cycle, somewhat of snowglobe pocket dimension. It has been going on for some time now like maybe 500+ years - the monsters perhaps are previous cycle inhabitants, It could explain why at least all the monsters we see seem to be from the 1960s? I'm not sure as to why but perhaps once the entity "wins" in that cycle, the remaining people become the monsters. It could also explain why some of them had very "human" moments, like the bus guy, the girl at the window, the farmers. There's clearly some sort of psychic link happening with them and the people and it's fascinating that they aren't just this force of bad. They still seem to have some semblance to them but perhaps not in control? I'm really glad they already answered that this isn't death or purgatory

    • @OpinionParade
      @OpinionParade Před měsícem +1

It's an alien "Noah's Ark" type ship that has been collecting species for thousands and thousands of years. It crashed on earth, in North America, and has been malfunctioning; taking in more and more samples into a broken system.
The species of different planets are housed in holodeck-type simulated realities; but these realities are broken and are bleeding into each other; there are glitches. Species that were never intended to meet, are now in the same glitching habitats.
The runes, symbols, etc are basically computer language, prompts, etc. Developer and Moderator tools that the system recognizes.
Thus, what appears to be "magic", is actually technology.

9:24 I also thought it was planned, ... until someone else had another theory : Sara's decision to 'kill the boy' was not only influenced by the prospect of bringing everyone home and the threat against her brother, but also by Kristi's claim that she would do anything - no matter how bad - if it could serve the greater good and allow her to see Marielle again. In the end, it's just irony in all its glory taking the reins of the show : Sara failed to 'kill the boy' and, as a result, her brother died and, to add insult to the injury, guess who got her wish, despite feeling so bad for her answer and not physically doing anything ? That's right : Kristi can see Marielle again, despite not being the one to try to 'kill the boy', but she feels terrible about the consequences of her careless answer and, just to go the extra mile, she's not even half as happy as she wants to be with Marielle, because she's an unreliable morphine addict who complicates her already difficult life.

    *My theory:*
It's all happening in a crashed alien space ship, which essentially has giant "holodecks" to hold species and biomes from different planets.
The three lined symbol is depicting some sort of glitch or break in the system, which is allowing three of these "realities" to cross over.
Thus, inhabitants from different "exhibits" are wandering into the wrong places. Sorta wolves wandering into a deer habitat, or vise versa.
It's either an A.I. or an alien which is "controlling" the ship/habitats but there is something wrong with the system after all this time, and it needs the help of people. Meanwhile, other species on the ship are either getting in the way, or actively don't want things to be fixed.
Since they're essentially in a glitching simulation, there are certain symbols and things which might work like developer or moderator tools. Computer language, or prompts that the system understands.

I believe it’s alien abduction. That’s why everyone isn’t from the same location. It’s a huge ship over the world, like the lamp Jade picked up S1E4. When Tabitha was pushed out the lighthouse window , that was the only way to get beamed out of the ship. They are in like “The Zoo “ from Steven Universe, except the alien ship is hovering on earth

  • @jamesedwards7966
    @jamesedwards7966 Před měsícem +6

You have an interesting take. I see things a little bit differently. I hear a lot of people saying that the monsters do not walk because they like it when the people are frightened. I do not believe that that is the case. I do not think that they can move fast. They are like sloths. One of the reasons I say that is because when Victor was in the hole in the ground and one of them woke up, they still moved slowly. Another reason is that when Boyd killed one, there was no reaction from the others of surprise when the monster died. When the monster screamed and started to die, the other monsters didn't jump; they were not startled. They continued to move slowly like sloths. I think that the only way they can catch their prey is if they can get it to stay still long enough for them to grab it and the only way that they can do that is if they appear human. I also think that that boy in the white is not a friend. I think that he is behind all of this. I think that he is the one who responded on the radio and collapsed the house so that they wouldn't find out where his pet monsters live. I think this is all one big game for him. In the beginning, when all of those people died, he sat on the merry-go-round thing (I don't remember the name of it, but it sits right next to the house, and Victor saw him playing with it when all of those people died when he was a kid). They think he is helping them, but I think he is not. He is not trying to help them escape he is just toying with them. He spoke to Tabitha before he pushed her out of the window. He could have easily spoken to any number of the people that have seen him and lead them to the castle. He also pushed Tabitha out the window so she wouldn't go back and lead other people to the castle. I think that he is behind everything.

    Spoiler alert:
There are some scenes where it seems the monsters are so close that they easily could have taken some of the new arrivals (for instance when Jim, Tabitha and children first arrived), but chose not to. Why? The wish to "season" them, as the creator of this video suggests? (He might be right)
Then there is the killing of father Khatri, which happens quickly and in a very different manner than usual. It's closer to the way Sara kills her brother than to the messy way of the monster. It seems they wanted father Khatri dead more than they wanted to torture him. And the monster killing him seems less human looking than the others - or did he just change into his monster persona before striking?
Also, they let Boyd get away after he killed Smiley - Why?
I wonder if we'll ever get the answers to these questions ...

my theory is that they are all in a comma, on the edge of death, life support, etc. and this is purgatory. This explains how tabitha wakes up in a hospital. she found her way out, thus waking up from her comma. they said she was found unconscious on a hiking trail. what if her and her family did make it to their camping destination and were out hiking, only for her/family to get injured while hiking leading to her comma/hospilization. my theory is all the people there are in purgatory and are in similar situations. they need to find there way out to wake up.

Hey, ravenlord! Well, it's an entertaining show in the spirit of Lost, so if you enjoyed that then you probably will get something out of it. It builds a fairly complex web of mystery and intrigue, that makes up for what it lacks in some areas, but I think season 3 will be a key make-or-break season for the series. 🤞

It's pointless to theorize since it's likely even the showrunners themselves don't know what the story is about. They're just making a bunch of mystery boxes as a cheap way to bait people's interest. They hope eventually they'll make up some haphazard overarching explanation that brings the various mystery boxes together. This is what they did with lost. It's cheap bait.

Your Tree theory starts off wrong right away.
There are several Far Away Trees. They all randomly dump you off somewhere different every time except for the bottle tree. The Bottle tree leads to the Lighthouse. We know this bc Victors Mom says that the Bottle Tree is special.
The tree that Boyd went into wasn't the bottle tree. He was out by the Lighthouse when the boy in white told Sara to go into a nearby Tree if they want to live.
There can be several reasons why Tabitha gets booted. It has to do with the lighthouse and she fell from the top which isn't very survivable unless she went through another type of portal.

There's no way for this to be "experiment", too many loose ends and inpossible to explain. You can't even explain the basic thing in this show - namely monster. Why are they there, why theh act like they act and why do they have human body. Impossible to explain
