Hello again to all! In this video I talk about the Heresy IV's over my 16 month period with them. I talk about amps I have tried and what I love about them. I even threw away the boxes they came in as these are with me to the end.

I am going to do audition for Heresy IV this weekend at hi fi shop. Can’t wait! I am using YG Acoustics Carmel powered with Primaluna Evo 400 integrated at the moment.
i love the way klipsch heresy sounds!!! i have a heresy ii paired with a Theta pre amp and emotiva xpa2 they sound like a dream!!!! the mids and highs are so gentle but the sound stage and the vocals are amazing!!
What you said about amplification is indeed true for almost any speakers. Me heard them with a low power tube amp and they sounded just right to me. No lack of dynamic slam or anything. They are very efficient so watt quality is maybe more important than watt quantity in this case.
You nailed it, little power is needed to make these sound flawless, I have 8 of these and continue to find more and my best combo yet is two heresy's with a super cheap Aiyema A07 with some chincy audio cables through my old iPhone. It sounds incredible, I don't know any other speaker that can do that.
Back in the day, I was going to get a pair of these. But I ended up buying the original Forte's. They had just come out. I kept those babies for over 30 years. Really good speakers. Finally sold them a couple of years ago. Bought another pair of Klipsch. : - )
Thanks for the update! I have had the Hersey IV’ in my system for about 2 months now. My preamp is McIntosh c50, amps are McIntosh mc352 and PrimaLuna prologue 4. My other speakers are Magnepan 1.7i. The Hersey’s are such a great clear precise speaker that I can no longer listen to the Magnepan’s the same day I hear the IV’s. The Maggie’s sound like a blanket is covering them when compared to the IV’s. I like the sound of the IV’s with the tubes better than with the mc352 for now, but that may change in the future. I agree completely that the Hersey scales well! Also love the cat, we have 3, one old Tuxedo long hair and two young bob tails..
I have Gen 2 and I love them . They are hooked to a Luxman amp ,E.Q and have a 15"powered sub on B output. Awesome 👌

Absolutely on the quality of amplifier. As you said, it’s the amplifier not the speakers in the end. That’s a hard idea to sell to a lot of people. In short, you can’t skimp on any part of the system. No short cuts.
Next time you are awake at 2am, try Arvo Pärt's Te Deum with the Estonian Philharmonic as loud as you can get away with. Low light is good, dark is better. Just let it wash over you.
Great Review! I tried driving my Hersey IVs with my Cambridge Audio CXA81 @ 80 watts and the sound was bright and shouty with hit or miss bass. I switched to my vintage Carver M400t @ 200 Watts and the sound was amazing! Booming bass and a much more balanced soundstage.
Nice reiview. I’ve got mine for a year now. I think I will throw away the boxes as well:) i have tested 4 amps with them and selected valve one - Unison Research Simply Italy. Low current though. Few months ago I had added a sub (REL 9i) to the rig and it is even better. When set up nicely, (when actually you cant tell it plays until you switch it off) it really ads magic to already magic sound. I recommend to test it with your systems.
There’s a new Andrew Jones interview over at the Audiophiliac that is very telling in his philosophy. Speakers are art that shouldn’t adhere to rigid measurements is what I got from it.
I have the Heresy IV and it’s art that will forever be in my home. I also have a bunch of other speakers for different sounds. Klipsch was always a speaker brand I would never buy. To think I hesitated

That's cool that you continue the review 16 months later. I wonder if my rp600 will sound better with more power even though the are pretty easy to drive.

I’ve been thinking about picking up a pair of these. I currently have a Luxman L590aii, pure Class A (30 watts into 8Ohms and 60 into 4).
I'm currently on the fence between the Heresy and Forte. I watched a lot of reviews. And the one thing a lot of people fail to understand is if you want linear uncolored sound go else where. These speakers were designed over half a century ago. And the design across the line is largely unchanged. When you buy something like this you will get the “house sound” that the company is known for.

Glad I still have my ADS 1230s. They sound great with just about any amp. You don't need class A.
Just bought a pair based on hearing the Forte IVs but could not afford its price, size and weight. Encouraged by your long term assessment. If Klipsch further refines with a V model, will you regret ditching the boxes? Other reviewers all favour the IV over the III. Apart from lower bass, the Heresys sound as good as the Fortes IMO.
I've been running the second edition of Klipsch heresies with a pair of Carver m500t amplifiers and they sounded tanoshi in a 20 by 16 foot room slightly open ear about to cover amplifiers way back in 1985
I lived with Cornwalls for almost 40 years and you will continue to love the Heresy IVs. I highly advise the step up to Cornwalls(skip the Fortes).
My wife put a picture on my speakers once. A little volume sent it flying. I am still denying it was on purpose to this very day.

I want to hear more about why you think your system sounds good one day but not as good on another day? Because this happens to me as well. Any insights? Electrical? Listener fatigue?

So you do not need a subwoofer with the Heresy or the La Scala? Don't you miss the bottom two octaves? 20hz to 80hz? Even with Fortes I have a pair of ENTEC SW-1 subwoofers. Not for LOUDER bass, but for DEEPER bass. Never had La Scalas, but the ENTECs are fast enough for Heresy or Forte. And they even enhance Cornwalls quite nicely. Now, for sure, maybe only 10% of my recordings even have any information below 40hz, but the ones that do surely benefit from a Subwoofer!
I would be curious to hear your thoughts on these with a Class A 300b tube amp in comparison to the Willsenton R8
Nice commentary. I’m thinking about paring these with a michi x3 for a bedroom setup. My big concern here is that I would be listening from my bed and ear level would be between 43-47 inches from the ground. You think I would be too high up for such a low speaker?

Thanks for such a great review. You talk about speakers the way chefs talk about pork chops and gravy. For those of us that do not have multiple listening rooms, what would be the use case for the Hersey vs La Scala? Aside from budget of course. Room size, power demands, genre, etc.?
You are paying for a horn loaded woofer. The dynamics improve with the la scala.

I listened to the 5’s side by side with the Hersey and even at a grand more I had to spring for the Hersey, to me it’s much better than the Model 5

I have a very large great room with 16 foot ceilings and H3’s in front on the carpet and Bose double cubes in the rear 10 feet up. Ok, my budget is skinny. Ok, the cubes are no match for the H’s. Thinking about replacing H3’s with Corn 4’s in front and moving the H3’s to the rear ten feet up a d I aim all my speakers to the idle of the room. also, what is the best receiver in the $1000 range. Opinions appreciated. Thanks.

Most audiophiles don’t like Klipsch but I’m glad you’re doubling down on the brand. Passlabs is amazing! Have you tried Arcam amplifiers? You may like them because they’re the cheapest 20 watts of pure Class A

Why doesn’t Klipsch replace the paper base cones with spun copper cones like in the SPL 150. Opinions appreciated. HIFI on a budget.
Why fix what isn't broken? Paper cones have a certain sound to them that can't be matched by copper, poly, or aluminum.

I can just imagine what that league of Yamaha would do to the Heresys, pure art. I own heresy IV with just an A-S701 and it sounds amazing to me. Ran out of cash so I’ll eventually try and go with either the 1200 or 2200, maybe demo other higher end amps.
I run the as1200 and it’s awesome with my Heresy IV.
@@PaoloMix09 Jumped to the higher A-S yet? (2 months later ...) 😁 I have the A-S801 currently and a pair of RP600Ms and upgraditus has struck already. I'd be very interested to know what the 1200/2200 and Hersey IV combo is like.

Would the Heresy mk 4's match up well with a 1978 Yamaha CR-2020 reciever?
I brought my Heresy IV from someone who had an opportunity and jumped to LaScala after he got the Heresy. he also has a pair of Forte. I auditioned the Heresy with his Yamaha CR-2020 but he also crank up the other two pair for me just for fun. Turns out with CR-2020, the Forte sounded the smoothest. The Heresy is a bit more forward/lively. The LaScala was an immersive experience. I paired the Heresy with Marantz NR1609, SR-1000, Dayton HT-1000, Emotiva TA-100. Marantz NR-1609 and Sr-1000 seems to work best. Dayton seems to be a little under power and Emotiva, solid sound but a bit forward

Great review---do you think they would pair well with a Luxman 505UXii? Also, what are the purple/pink lights are the floor? Very cool!
I ran these with a Luxman 590 AXII (a loaner Luxman) and that sounded wonderful. That is a Class A amp. I have not heard the 505 but do know that is class A/B so will probably sound a little leaner than a Class A. But then again, maybe not as I have not heard the parking. The Luxman has tone controls though so if needed could boost it a bit.
Are these soooo much better than Heresy 3’s?

I'm running two Schiit Aegir with Cornwalls iv, they work awesome! I tried the Vidars thinking they'd be better and more powerful they were not! If you're running any of Klipsch heritage line get class A it sounds better in every aspect! Next amp I want to try would be some of those quicksilvers tube amps. I've never had a high efficient speaker like this and going from class A to class AB to my class D My old AV receiver, it's so amazing how it changes the speaker sound! I can see this audio file hobby getting expensive very quickly! Definitely choose real class A of any brand and you will be super happy!

@@seventeendegree I'm using a emotiva XCM2 for my preamp and my computer for my streamer and media player. The option that I would choose if I were you would be the new Yamaha A6A it's not out yet it's on pre-order. It has balanced XRLs for your front speakers if you wanted to use class A amps later down the line. It is 7.2 channel at 125 watts. They also have the Yamaha A8A which has the balanced XRLs and it's 11.2 channel it's their flagship. I'm not aware of any class a receivers though not in my price range anyway. The receiver will do great for your rears and your center channel and you can still buy class a amps for your fronts for your stereo listening! If this was out when I bought my equipment it's the route I would have went.
What amp would you suggest that has sufficient power but is budget friendly. To run my IV's.

@@guitarslinger16 My endgame is to have 2 Aegirs running as monoblocks into the Heresys, with the Freya + as the preamp. If you're adding a turntable to the setup, give the Schiit Mani phono preamp a try - hits way above its price class.

I have tried several tube amps now with the Heresy IV, LaScala and now the Forte IV (which I am reviewing soon) and the Pass Labs gear was so much better every time. IN bass, IN feeling, IN soundstage, etc. Everything. Tried 300b, 845, and EL34 tube amps. Im a Pass Labs fan for life and Pass and the new breed of Klipsch are a PERFECT synergistic match.
Answere is in redesigned crossovers.

OK so apparently no kickbacks from Pass Lab? You recommend a $7500 USD amp and a $700 USD amp and say the speakers sound great with either even with cheap cables. Hands down 100% getting kickbacks from Klipsch.
I’ve tried all kinds of really great gear with this speaker in a couple of different rooms with the same results. Sounds like complete crap…. I’m a Klipsch dealer and I wouldn’t sell a pair to a customer at all.

They are awful speakers, measure like ......! People must be clueless about what good speakers are.
Ask 20 random people what the "best" speakers are and you're likely to get 20 different answers. It's very subjective. There is no "best" speaker or amp.
