Cool to see how people make these a little bit differently. I have one of these that I made a few years back. Didn’t bother with a gauge since I can set the pressure on my compressor. I guess if someone is using something like a tire inflator the gauge is def needed.

Absolutely right, there's no wrong way to make one as long as it works for what you need it to do, find those mischievous boost leaks! I'm finally chasing down mine.

i have a 1g 92 dsm, bought wideband fpr 2g maf 650cc high impedance injectors found a mod to make them work. But i found out the maf wont be able to run that and was looking into maf translator. Would i still need to get a safc if i just watch the fuel pressure and wideband?

I think the fuel pressure should be fine at stock levels (1g 37psi stock and 2g 43psi stock)on that size injector but unfortunately fuel pressure is only part of the equation.(1) using the maf-t to dial in the correct setting so that (2) the wideband shows you safe voltages under load while (3) you have a good way to data log your fuel trims before you go to hard on the throttle. That's the 1-2-3 of it lol. Guessing fuel trims can be an extremely expensive game. I would look into some form of datalogger coupled with the maf-t and fpr. I used to use a scanmaster 3 in my 1g to see fuel trims were at 100% and after a little bit of testing, keeping my eye on the wideband, I would watch the scanmaster 3's "knock sum" to verify that things wouldn't blow up in boost.

@@TPGDSM ill look into the scanmaster 3. But with that fpr,maft,650s, wideband, high resistance mod i should be alright then?

@@amplion6885 I dont want to give you bad advice and have your engine try to kaboom on ya, id say to be safe stay around stock boost and you should be ok BUT without data logging you never know. Each engine is different. What maf-t settings work for one car may be completely different for yours. That's why logging is so important. It'd be safe to say you could get your car running reletively well with the maf-t, 650's and fpr but if it were me personally I wouldn't go ripping hard in wide open throttle pulls untill I could see my trims and knock sums. Who's to say the wideband looks ok but the ECU is 20% lean and your getting 18 counts of knock at 18psi? I'd just investment in a logger before going out Saturday night and chasing down your buddies late 90's mustang lol. Hope this helps 👌

Side note back when I had my circle track purpose built 91 tsi all I had was a maf translator on a beefed up engine running a Frankenstein 20g at 28psi we were basically broke and couldn't afford expensive logging tools and ended up going through 3 different pistons trying to tune in the dark. Maybe it wasn't the best idea at the time BUT it was a hell of a lot better to be able to go out Saturday night ripping the car around versus being stuck watching your friends run without you. Hindsight is 2020 hahaha
