Many young men dream of joining Russian Special Forces - Russian Spetsnaz. However, for that to come true, they have to pass a series of incredibly tough endurance tests for Crimson Beret. There’s no room for failure. The slightest hesitation or poor mark and they’re disqualified. Test for Crimson Beret includes running 11 kilometers in full military gear, under conditions similar to a real battle, which is for most, would be unbearable. But for those battling for the right to wear the coveted Crimson Beret, this is just one of the trials that must be passed with flying colors. They also have to shoot accurately, storm buildings quickly and demonstrate outstanding combat skills. Throughout the grueling ordeal, the hardest challenge is to overcome themselves.

For those thinking it doesn’t look that tough: this is NOT Russian elite special forces training in the sense of the SAS or navy seals etc. This is basic Spetz Naz selection training as Spetz Naz have many different roles and types of troops. Spetz Naz means ‘special purpose’ and they different Spetz Naz units do different roles, some are just higher grade infantry, others are vehicle specialists, others are police roles…..the equivalent of proper special forces such as the SAS is the Spetz Naz GRU, who ARE trained to an extremely high standard and it takes around 4 years from joining as a recruit to become a GRU operator. This video is basically the base line selection and training to enter ‘special purpose’ forces, and from then on the soldiers receive more specialist training in which ever unit they signed up for. Some will only train for another 6 months for less skilled roles, and others will train for another 3 years to become elite SF units. Also for certain Spetz Naz units you can join straight from being a civilian, which is why this training is pretty similar to basic boot camps, they just have higher fitness standards and more tests than the regular army, before more specialised training follows!!

Just like all special forces training they only show up the basic training, but never the really good stuff, due to it being classified.

In the American Army every one wears the red beret. it has no special meaning there it is only a fashion statement. in Spetsnaz it is a symbol of greatness a symbol of hard work a symbol of true spirit.

The 82nd airborne and 160th SOAR are the only ones I know that wears the red beret, and they both earned it.

"Red Berets" are for Airborne qualified. In the UK you have to pass P Company before you're allowed to wear it & only then do you go on to earn your wings. 6.8 mile " forced" march is a bit of a joke, thats a standard infantry soldiers fun run in the UK.

Meine Kameraden und ich mussten die 30km ,mit G3 und Rucksack laufen.Aber ohne Helm.Wer nicht mehr konnte denn haben wir geholfen.
2.36 war meine Zeit.Danach schossen wir auf 400m,... mit 15Schuss ,hab es geschafft.Danach war ich am Arsch.

Agree.I trained in Systema in the UK for two years and our training was a lot harder than some of this stuff.Falling and rolls on concrete,no protective equipment when sparring etc and very slow press ups and taking a lot of strikes.Are these guys new conscripts or soliders who are already serving?

I did a certificate course from Siberian Federal University in Russian language (A0 Level)
I wish to join Spetsnaz but don't know how learn Russian and join from India.
I wish the Russian government provided guidance and help.
You just need to know Russian you would get Russian citizenship for joining and you can have dual citizenships

This is completely toned down, looks more like a boot camp for regular army and even then way too soft. Spetnaz training is known to be brutal with systematic beatings and with even deaths...
Even the bootcamp for a regular army is much harder than this video. But we know they will shown us just only the basic training because the other part must be so classified and would take death spetsnaz boot camp is so horrible !

It’s because there a different types of Spetz Naz, some spetz naz forces are just high grade infantry or used for different specialist purposes, only Spetz Naz GRU are actually special forces in the sense of Navy seals or SAS. Spetz Naz just means special purpose, and most of these roles aren’t meant to be highly skilled covert recon ninjas like we imagine special forces as being.

I am German but I am completely on Russia's side and hope every day Russia will be successfull in Ukraine. I also speak Russian fluently. Putin made it legal for foreigners to join the Russian military in 2015, looking back, I would not hesitate to leave Germany for Russia and join Russia's military.
