  • A clean swell and a high tide provided some easy roll in tubes over straddie.

So I read Kirra pretty much changed because of some harbor or something and rarely breaks and nothing like back in the old days?!! I remember seeing it in the old surf movies back in the 70's and legendary guys like Michael Peterson surfing it and later Rabbit Bartholomew and others. It looked soooooo freaking awesome and when it really got good it was a long point style wave with hollow tubes and it was incredible!!!! Now I guess there's the "super bank" it moved down or something? Then what about Burleigh heads? That was such a good looking wave too!!! I don't hear of it much anymore? I'm 63 now, born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii. I've been surfing my whole life since I was 5 years old and grew up in a beach house right next to Pipeline, surfing the "7 mile miracle" and am so blessed to have grown up surfing back when it was so uncrowded and I focused my entire life on surfing, tube riding especially and Pipeline and OTW were my favorite spots and right in front of my house!!!!! I just hate to see some of the world's best surf breaks get ruined by construction and other stuff along the coastline!!!! I just remember going to the old classic surf movies in Hawaii growing up with my friends, Gerry Lopez and others and being so stoked on seeing good kirra and Burleigh going off! That's too sad that kirra sounds like it got ruined. Jetties and beach construction where it changes the normal and natural movement of the sand can completely disrupt sandbar formations etc. and make really good surf breaks dissappear forever!!!!! It's tragic. They ruined a surfspot on Oahu's south shore called Garbage hole a long time ago right next to Ala Moana bowl when they built magic island. It was really sad and such a loss. But kirra was one of the most awesome waves in Australia and it's just really messed up they did that to it! I made quite a few good surfing friends from Australia and South Africa back in the mid 70's into the 80's when they would come to Oahu's north shore in our winter to surf!! Those days are sadly gone now because it's very crowded now, but like I said, I'm truly blessed growing up in Hawaii out in the country surfing back then
It was just sugar cane fields everywhere and super laid back and we just surfed the best waves and life was good!!!!
    Aloha from beautiful Hawaii

This a beautiful clean wave…..with little barrels. Perfect for most, and without the insane crowds at Snapper🏄
