- Even though DC Collectibles DC Icons action figure are done and gone that doesn't mean we can't crack a few out and review them! Already had the Superman but didn't have the Deadman, Swamp Thing, John Stewart Green Lantern, or Mr Miracle. I tried to unbox these awesome action figures as efficiently as possible but unboxing 5 dc icons takes time. Thanks for watching!

I like this scale. It’s somewhat close to Figuarts. But I hope they actually make DC figures like Marvel Legends one of these days
I wanted to love this line so much but the scale just killed me. I have nothing to put them with. But Firestorm and Mr Miracle are 2 of my favorite figures. The sculpt, paint, accessories. This is was such solid idea. They even started upping the scale, the neck articulation was the only problem left. The essentials are fine enough but they're not what Icons could have been. Thigh cut was a debatable point of articulation they lack.
I still weep at the loss of Etrigan. So much. I might have to get the Swamp Thing. He's bigger than I thought.
graefx Swamp Thing was such a pleasant surprise for me. I was expecting to like John or Deadman the most. Instead the winner was good old Swamp Thing. This is a strange scale agreed. I just never planned on mix and matching these. I know that’s some people’s thing, but unless it’s DCUC and DC Multiverse, I keep them all separate anyway and prefer to collect and arrange them by set.
Brad The DC Universe Geek Yeah Iike mixing too much. Partial to get a varied look an avoid the obvious buck repeating. Especially for characters that probably shouldn't look super similar body type wise.

I love this line. This line got me back into collecting,too bad DC collectibles killed this line of figs. Even with some limited articulation,I still will forever love this line.
I actually liked this scale. It went really well with SHF and other import lines. I know people want them to compare to Marvel Legends, but in an ideal world I would’ve had Multiverse for a legends companion and Icons for import one. Damn shame they canned this.

DC Icons were such a good line. It sucks that outside of Giga Wonder Woman, they were all on the small side, just since it makes getting them a gamble on if they'd look any good with the rest of my collection.
Just want to say, thanks for being a DC channel. There is so many channels that seem all about Marvel. When I watch one of your videos it's like coming home.
What hurts them is that they always start a new line with the same ol figures. Over time the interest diminishes because folks get fatigued from buying the same figures. Which leads to lower numbers and them mistakenly thinking there's no interest. Hopefully they'll keep the multiverse line going and go deeper into their roster. If we can get a Machine Man Marvel Legend then we should get a Metallo from Multiverse.

Nathan Grim I remember when icons was going out and essentials were coming out. Everyone said it was a return of the golden 7” days and we’d all love them. Now I have essentials (which I’m poised to sell) and would kill for the icons captain marvel and beetle

@@nathang4682 I mean this one does not look bad and some ppl get a good head sculpt some don’t I can be one of those ppl hopefully but I don’t like the mcfarlane cause it’s 7inch too big for my taste
For the s symbol you can have a high quality adhesive sheet with as many as you can fit on it printed and sent to you for a couple of bucks, cut and place over the scuffed up original.i do this with customs before the final dull coat/clear coat I apply. I even do it for part of the eyes for larger scale customs(8-12"), particularly ones based on the live action versions of the characters. That superman figure is one of the best classic superman figs released if you repaint the eyes. Even if you go simple like multiverse releases with just white , black and base eye color applied with a toothpick it makes a tremendous difference. Swamp thing, joker, batman(even as short as he is),superman,and deathstroke are must haves imo. It's crazy how high some figures like batman are going for now because of how cheap they sold for when everyone was desperate to unload them.
I really wish people gave this line a chance when it was out. It had a great variety of characters, bodies and accessories and they were slowly improving as they went on.
But no, people just whined that it didn't scale with their ML Pizza Spider-mans and the line died. Now we're stuck with a series of figures that ALSO don't scale with that figure, use the same buck with terrible proportions, come with no acessories and are already resorting to repaints of the same characters.
DC essentials? More like DC barebones.
I have the Black Adam, John Stewart, and Static. I was just getting into them when I learned they were cancelled. DC needs to get it together. They're always starting and stopping lines. They need to get one and just power through!

Nice video! At the beginning I also complained about the scale, but then I thought about it and bought MR Miracle, and I fell in love with this line. It is excellent in every aspect, I do not even have a figure with any fault, they have good quality, paint and accessories.
People should have given them the opportunity, it's the best thing DCC did in a long time, but it was a line for it to work on its own. Essentials stink.
Deadman looks the best in this assortment of figures. I remember watching him in Batman The Brave and The Bold a decade ago. And I must say that episode was pretty creepy for a kids show. I'm surprised it even got the approval for Cartoon Network.
I want a bulkier classic Swampy.
Here's some advice now that I've managed to score a lot of these superman figs for 12 dollars a piece. Get an exacto knife and fix the eyes in about 20 secs. The dc icons superman is one of the best 6" classic comic book superman figures ever released. People hate the extremely off putting eyes(which is why it's been so easy to get for cheap, but like the hated batman figure watch the aftermarket price explode once they're gone). Okay the only thing work with the figure is the eyes and it's because there was a problem with the factory's eye printing. It's an easy fix that anyone can do and involves no paint whatsoever. All you have to do is take an exacto knife and patiently scrape away the over spray with the tip of the blade starting at the top of the eyes(black line) and keep the blade outside the eye sculpt edges then work your way around to the excess paint under the eyes, just scraping back and forth very lightly until it looks "right". His eyes will then look perfect, making the headsculpt perfect as well. If you want to go all out get a little 50 cent bottle of apple barrel satin acrylic paint(yes the cheap stuff) and some toothpicks. Grab a toothpick with a really sharp point, get a teeny amount of paint on the tip and add the slight arch tip to the eyebrows, repeat and apply to the ends of the eyebrows extending them a bit to where they would naturally end. Any time you slightly screw up/get a little too much on there, use the other side of the pick to scrap it off but use a motion that goes along with the shape you were actually going for. Now repeat but this time just applying a tiny bit to where the eye brows start so there's less of a gap between them.
If they were the same scale as DC Multiverse, Mezco, and even Marvel Legends I would have been hooked on this line.
I want the Mr miracle, Deadman, but maybe the green lantern.

Completely agree. Icons blew Essentials out of the water. Beyond comprehension DC Collectibles couldn't get it to work and kept shooting it as it tried to get up on its feet.

I like that they don't have a thigh cut. I have always found that to be ugly (especially if rotating it is going to mess with the line work or whatever happens to be going on there) and not that helpful as far as getting them in poses.
The paint apps where great but the scale sucked. If essentials had this paint apps and accessories icons had with the articulation it has would make the line awesome.

It’s probably a waste, but I’ve been slowly picking these up. No they aren’t legends scale. But you know what they don’t need to be.
Exactly. They are a different thing entirely so they don’t need to scale with a completely different companies toy line. 👍
The thing I'm super super super sad about is that we never got that awesome looking etrigan icons figure. That bugs me so much because it looked amazing and we hadn't had a great etrigan figure since DC classics etrigan from like years and years ago. The icons etrigan looked so awesome in his size and scale and he even had effect pieces and alternate hands. It made me so sad because I pre-ordered it.

The icons line looked great until I realized how small they were. I did have that Superman, but ended up selling it because it seemed so out of scale with the majority of my collection. I did keep Kelex though!

That DC icons swamp thing is not very impressive to me the new 52 deluxe one with the wings and the crown and the blade hands is awesome and that one you just got send is really cool it has like mushrooms in vines on it the icon one is pretty plain

Man, you have a very different opinion about that Superman than I do. I think it's possibly the worst Icons figure. Mostly because the face is so hideous.
Darkhearst Toys Yeah, That Supes is one that people love to hate for that reason exactly. I’m not impressed with the face either which is why I addressed it in the video. It’s inescapably painted bad and looks slightly gaunt and elderly.

I don't get how the toys could do good the TV shows can be good but when it comes to DC movies they just garbage
