Attacker at Donald Trump’s rally killed by US Secret Service sniper | BBC News

- Former US President Donald Trump was rushed off stage after gunshots erupted at a rally in Pennsylvania in an apparent assassination attempt.
The suspect was shot dead at the scene by US Secret Service agents, the service's spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said. He added that one bystander was killed in the shooting and two others were critically injured.
Law enforcement sources told the BBC's US partner CBS News that the male attacker had been armed with a rifle and had fired from an elevated structure a few hundred metres away outside the venue. They added that the attack was being treated as an assassination attempt.

I just don't understand, if the shooter was not seen by the Secret Service due to "line of sight", when crawling, preparing for a shot and being pointed out by the eye witness... YET, almost INSTANTLY getting killed by the Secret Service within next 7 seconds after taking his first shot. This does not make any sense. If Secret Service does not see him, because of "line of sight" than how can they kill him in 7 seconds? Secret Service immediately turned on "Wall hack"?

Exactly, and I mean this building was right outside the rally. Out of all the buildings how did that one go unchecked? The guy at the end said it himself, “This is not a big place”. Why wasn’t immediate action taken when this was alerted to police? I mean the secret service are meant to secure the perimeter by a pretty large distance, so the fact that a sniper can lie there, on that building where they’re apparently not even fully hidden, get noticed by multiple civilians and supposedly no secret service members is baffling to me. And of course, if this shooting happens at any event it is without a doubt a security failure, whether that be a concert (etc) or this rally itself, no questions asked. I mean is the president not important enough to where a warning of this magnitude doesn’t receive immediate action?

@@WhoGotSoulHerethere was nothing strange about the sounds of the gunshots. For one, it's reported as a suppressed rifle. Even if it wasn't, guns peak mic levels and sound quiet. I work with audio 24/7, it is normal to sound suppressed like that. We also don't know the caliber of the gun yet.
And no, that is what resilience looks like. Most people don't have that these days, so you don't understand it when they see it. You can literally hear the secret service saying "we have to go" multiple times. The shooter was reported dead within seconds, before Trump even stood up, they all have ear pieces and knew he was down. Plus, everyone was scanned and detected for metal before entering, a 2nd shooter would have to be outside the venue far away, and that roof was the only vantage point, and it was already being covered by multiple snipers.
The only crazy thing about this is how his Secret Service and local police had been told about someone with a gun, and did absolutely nothing about it.
How is it off in any way? It's not like this is even something new when we look at the history of US poltiics.

That said, it's almost certainly an assassination attempt. The only person of note there, was Trump so it's doubtful it's someone shooting at their ex at a random rally.
