Season 5 Episode 8 "Emancipation"
The team takes on the case of a 16-year-old factory manager (Emily Rios) who collapsed when her lungs suddenly filled with fluid while at work. The teenager informs House and team that she has been an emancipated minor ever since her parents died. Meanwhile, Foreman asks for House's permission to work on a clinical trial and House rejects his proposal. In an effort to prove himself capable of working without House's supervision, Foreman takes on his own pediatric case. But when the unexplained illness brings the child (Kyle Red Silverstein) to the brink of death, Foreman is left questioning his ability to work free from House's custody.

before, he asked, indicating that he was looking for approval of his work to build his confidence
later, he stated, indicating he didn't need approval; foreman had already gained the confidence by doing the work

No... that was house's plan all along. He wanted Foreman to prove it to himself. Foreman's lack of confidence was the whole reason he asked house the first time. By trying to prove it to house, he proved it to himself and the next time he came in there with the humble confidence to tell house he was going to do it which was house's whole point. At least that's what I got from it.

growing up my mom was way to protective of me so i quickly learned it was easier to get forgiveness than permission.
It sometimes goes a lot better when you're 16 and up. My mom was as big of a helicopter parent as they come but once I was like 16-17, I would come to her to ask for permission to do something that really only impacted me (and it was within reason) and she would just go "Do whatever you want. You're almost an adult. Have fun,".
I love how Forman has a House moment, discussing about something, pausing as he realizes what's up because of something someone said, and then leaving the room without a word.

Maybe it's a technique you develop when you get really good at that stuff, just talk about nonsense and eventually the answer slaps you in the face

I really appreciate that he takes plots from episodes and is able to condense it to a bite size form vs. the hour long episodes. I love this show and I’ve seen every episode multiple times, but sometimes I just wanna see the b-plot from the episode.

In the end, he decided it was the right thing to do. But he didn't sleep easy.

Why does no one care the doctors keep spinning the same diseases around every episode? It could be Amyloidosis, it could be sarkoidosis, it could be Wilson's disease, ooh I know! Lupus! No, no, no and definitely no! How about myoelodosis. Or someotherdosis? No and and... Omg it Is someotherdosis! Why didn't we figure it sooner? "Oh I know, because u idiots keep offering me the same 4 diseases!"

@@janesmith699 I am not a doctor or anything but my best guess is, that those four diseases are the ones that affect the whole body and/or can be responsible for a wide variety of symptoms. And every other disease may have so specific symptoms that they can be immediately ruled out.
But again, this is really just a guess from a person who knows nothing about medicine.

Mikaela Way obviously it’s exaggerated for television but vitamins can make you sick. If you have a reasonably healthy diet (like eat a fruit once in a while) you don’t need vitamins
Well a kid's body is growing but can strain relatively easy compared to an adult's so I'd say 5+ vitamins a day for about three weeks could start sickness. Then again it depends on body type, ethnicity (actually does matter in body identification), and age. It was a bit over exaggerated here but the side effects can happen eventually.
@@maggiee639 You would have to overdose by A LOT for something like this to happen. Some vitamins like B vits simply get flushed out with water while others don't
skedaddle exactly, it’s exaggerated for television.
This is why tasty gummy vitamins worry me. My sister would've eaten a whole bottle of those like candy.

You can OD on vitamins, like taking too much iron or vitamin A, too much of everything is bad.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly the point. At some point in S1 or S2, Foreman explicitly states he wants to learn from House, i.e., become more like him. In the middle seasons, he tries to fly the coop a couple times, but it doesn't work out because he's too much like House. By S8, he's tricking Wilson out of boxing tickets with House. Becoming more like House is basically his entire character arc.

Both a statement to how he structured that proposal and the certainty of foreman’s ability to meet the role’s demands. “Without a question” makes it sound like foremans the obvious choice.
I met the kid who played Evan, he was also in Dolphin Tale! Hes such a sweet kid and a great actor, never knew how many small roles he had. Even better in one of my favorite shows of all time!

@@madilove0 I got to meet him at the Clearwater museum that has all the stuff from the movie, and I hit it at the perfect time because Nathan and Cozi were there, which is rare! I even snagged a selfie lol. I talk to him every now and again but he's a really genuine kid and a very good actor.
