The Centering Vee Attachment is made for attaching to the Flex Edge Finder to allow center finding of round parts quickly and precisely. Useful to find center location of workpieces when machining features such as cross holes, keyways on shafts, etc.… The Flex Edge Finder when used with the Centering Vee Attachment allows no extra offsetting of machine axis to find center of workpiece. The Flex Edge Finder with the centering vee is useful for new machines but also older worn machines because the offsetting of the machine axis is reliant on a worn lead screw. With a DRO not as big of a problem. If you want to use an older worn machine the Flex Edge Finder is very useful for precision work. Centering Vee Attachment tolerance .001 from round part center line. Centering Vee Attachment round part diameter range ¼ inch up to 5 inches max diameter. Centering Vee Attachment round part diameter range 6.35mm up to 127mm max diameter. Centering Vee Attachment has an Inch .250 version and Metric 6mm version with the difference being the diameter of the mounting hole.

Or you could use the indicator and find the actual center. There are at least three factors that will cause a false reading in this video.

Yes, I understand. This is not the most precise method to find center. The most precise way to find center is use an indicator mounted on an arm check one side of round and check other side. This most precise method can get you with in .0001 and it takes a lot of messing around and adjustments. The Flex Edge Finder with the centering vee attachment gets me within .001 and it is fast. Works great for keyways, cross holes, etc.
The centering vee size range capability of round workpieces is .250 inch up to 5 inch diameter.
With the centering vee attachment you are faster and more precise than when using a lot of the other methods of finding round part center. I have seen a lot of methods to find center and most people are not getting very close and if a cross hole is drilled the pin won't line up.
