Totally random lol I'm a nail tech.. if you want it to work faster warm the acetone up.. it will cut down the paint faster.. like heating pad under the pan or put a towel over top to trap heat on.. ya kno stuff like that.. that's how nail polish remover works for nails.. mixes with your body heat.. hope that helps anyone 😁 thanks for sharing 😊

If you do this again, I’ve discovered that denture brushes are better than toothbrushes for scrubbing. The bristles are longer &
much more sturdy. 😊❤️

Perfect timing with this hack!!! I've been! going through my stash and trying to use what I have. Just like you, I have dashboards that I don't really care for so put them to the side. This is what I'm going to do with them once I reorganize my catch all planner. I love watching your videos. You're always so creative! TFS!! I love, love, love this idea!!!

Neat idea but I went a step further and used acetone nail remover it wiped right off no soaking and then used mild dish soap to finish. Thanks for the idea 💡

You can get the clear cutting mats from the Dollar Store and cut them also!
That's my favorite way to do it too. Any size you want to do, you can create it! The only downside is that you really need a strong punch to punch the mat. I'm thinking that the HP punch isn't strong enough.

I actually have video on DIY’ing them, too (czcams.com/video/JEpYPcuTyAo/video.html) but I also find the punching part to be difficult.
I broke my punch doing that.
Try using the Crop-a-dile .. it doesn't punch disc style holes (like for Happy Planners) but it will go thru anything. Use it to punch holes then use strong scissors to cut a slit in each hole. There's your disc shape holes. 😉

Nope! It was scratch free! Probably stick with soft bristles though.

Thanks for this hack. It was really interesting. I make mine using the dollar store cutting mats BUT I noticed that while you were scrubbing it didn't get the letters and design until later. So if you like the design, you could maybe just scrub until the covering was gone but stop and rinse before the design is gone - such possibilities!
I tried that on one off camera and it worked, but then I when back and cleaned it fully to clear. It only seems to work light to dark.
Maybe just some the tooth brush in the acetone and then try to use in the areas not wanted and see if the other parts of the design are still there after you rinsed it off. This may help you keep what you do want on it since your not really submerging the whole dashboard. Worth a try I guess.

Great idea - next request is can you show is what products you will use to paint the dashboard?
Actually, I prefer the clear dashboards, so I don’t think I will be painting them. But I would probably use sharpie paint pens if was. If you wanted an solid overlay of color, probably start with a spray paint layer, the use the pens on tops once dry for designs.

You can also do this by purchasing plastic kitchen mats at the dollar store and cut them to size. You get two mats to a pack for $1!!!

How do you dispose of the polish remover when you’re done? Can it go down the sink or does it need special treatment?
hmm, I usually just dilute it with water and dump it down the sink, but now, I'm thinking I should do some research just to be sure...

Yes, thin ones too! I think the higher the acetone concentration you have the easier it is, per my subbies. 😁👍🏼

I haven't tried paint remover but acetone is usually the main ingredient in paint thinner so I would assume it would work.
Does this work on the foiled ones?
In my experience, yes, however sometimes if the dash is stamped too hard, you will see the outline of the foiled areas still remains. But dashboard will be clear. 😁👍🏼
