I had one of these as a loaner... not gonna lie in person they are so much better then a video.. and the Bose in them when its upgraded is pretty amazing. 70K is a bit much for what that one is though.
Love this car. Researched and researched and drove every other brand. Others just don’t drive the same nor do others take the road bumps as well.
70 grand? Thats a little much.
I stopped watching there. You would have to be a huge fan of Cadillac to buy one considering the other options in this range
hahaha
Or just buy the Lexus he just reviewed
But it has red Cadillac calibers.
Outpricing itself
I bought my sport with tech pkg for under 60k so you must be reviewing one with every possible thing.
I absolutely LOVVE MY XT5 sport. So nice a ride, great pickup, comfort, excellent sound system. Best cargo space and comfort ride (less bumpy than ANY of the others).
22:05 I really love how the reverse light is integrated into the design.
This I have waited for so long!
70k? 7.4 sec. 0-60? 310hp? Hmm. Yeah, I would rather use that 70k to buy an SQ5 or a Macan. Just me though.. With that being said, Ryan, glad you are unbiased. That's what makes your show/channel/videos, attract a wider audience. 👍 PS: Running Chickens!!! Popeye's would be Jealous!!! lol
0 - 60 in 6.6 BTW.
@@user-bz3et5gm7n Still, for $70k That's a pretty slow time.
As I see the times for the specific vehicles I pointed out.
I have a 2017 Xt5 premium luxury in black on black with Titanium accents. I LOVE it. Got it for $18,000. 100,000 miles. Drives like a dream. The interior is so sharp, everything flows. There are plenty of aftermarket upgrades you can get for all the infotainment complaints
Ryan, For a CUV of this size and price, the lack of rear headroom is an absolute scandal. How can the HR-V offer more rear seat space than a $70,000 crossover?🤨 Since we are so close to Christmas , I will throw in a charitably positive comment about the manual transmissions in Cadillac's Blackwing sedans 😁
It's owned by GM.
This vehicle desperately needs a new cockpit which should be reminiscent of the Escalade and the new EV Lirique.
AWD/2WD etc. status display is above the Tach on the dash.
Really like the brown interior
Me too ..
It wasn't putting any power to the back right wheel at that one rock. The engine makes all the power you'd need, but it just can't get it to the wheel. The rear right wheel wasn't even spinning, not even once, so the tires were not the issue here.
I paid $57k Canadian for a 2022 premium luxury with most options and the Sport really only has design differences not mechanical. So I don't know how or why this Sport is 70K, this must be supply chain issue pricing. I got mine in the tail end of 2021 after I traded in a 2018 XT5 which was great but we wanted more options. At $57k it's a great vehicle, very reliable, and great in snow. I don't know why you'd try to take it off road, it's not meant for that obviously. And with stock all seasons on it, not even worth the test, those tires have no off road traction. If the price has gone up that much I agree, I'd consider other SUVs with more updated screens and such. But I'm more than happy with my Prem Lux, looks great, very comfortable, and very reliable.
The back seat tilts back from more headroom
If this car is 70k then the A6 Allroad and the E-All Terrain are real steals for the money at 80k :D
I do love the blue exterior!! I bought the Argent Silver which is beautiful.
Your positive comments are light and the pickup is great. The 1.2 SECOND difference comparing to faster competitors is a ridiculous complaint imo. No one buys a Cadillac for sports/race car intensity. There are no rivals for the sweet comfy drive with the strong and elegant exterior and sweet (albeit simple) interior and smaller screen. The full package is the best combo if you like a reliable luxury ride.
night vision is something that should be on every car...along with HUD and led lights...BSM...ect
I have a 2023 XT5 with upgraded V6 engine, premium luxury. Love it! Not 4WD but I don’t need that. You are right, those colors are ugly. Mine is Wilder Metalic with cirrus interior. Documentation does state that the 4WD will disengage with too much heat. Had a XRS previously and loved that too. My only dislike of the XT5 is that I would like bigger cup holders for the front!
55k should be enough for this car
I bought the 23 Sport XT5 for the premium suspension and off road mode. I would have paid extra to get a vehicle without a screen. I am not cool.
I live on the worst roads in Northern Ontario and the off road suspension and AWD is very comfortable. I often drive several hours to visit the kids and my back and arse does not hurt anymore when I get there. The electric passenger seat is hard to find on other makes, but this has it. Getting older and it is harder to climb up into trucks and down into sedans...these seats are perfect to adjust to get into.
The V6 got 6.7 L/100 km on the last trip. ..that's 36 miles a US gallon for my American friends. I paid considerably less than 70,000 US being the year old model and having some GM points to use up. Well, to be exact I paid $59,000.
I love the lights situated on the front to look for moose in the ditches.
This is my first Caddy and my wife thought I was losing it because we always drive farm trucks.
I'd buy it again.
I found an Argent colour that is beautiful and doesn't show mud and dust. The interior is black, not tan which is alright.
Btw...you have a big rock in front of your back wheel..
Love hearing what it doesn't have
With the exception of the V products, diminishing returns is the name of the game for Cadillac. You could get the Chevy equivalent, get 90% of the features, and spend tens of thousands less. Cadillac needs to change!
Perfect for rental car companies or retirement homes in Florida
Too funny cuz I'm driving this as a rental. It rides nice, but that's the only thing I like about it. The controls are not intuitive and the engine (turbo version) is like an On/Off switch. Wish I had watched the video before selecting as my rental. Great vid.
I purchased a 74K sticker price (Candian) XT5 Platinum with 14,000 km and 8 months old, in Jan 2018, previously a GM Exec model, for $57,000 CAD. There's no way in hell I would drive it "off road", and yes it does have AWD. From what I can see the new models up to and including 2023 have had some rather minor changes, although you can now get Night Vision as an option. Since 2024 models seem to the last ones for the XT5, I can understand why GM did not want to engineer some major dash, infotainment screens.Mine has a few more options over the Platinum model to get to that high sticker price. It operates very well in snow conditions with winter tires and AWD switched on. For driver/passenger comfort, size does matter. I'm not 6 feet, however if you are, longer in your legs, then back, the driving seat should fit you. If you are taller in your back, like my son, it will not be comfortable. I find the back seating, on the rare occasion when I am the passenger, is quite comfortable for me. You can actually get three adults in the rear seat, assuming are not 25 lbs or more and six feet or more. That being said it is really not a family car, unless the kids number 2 or less, and under age 15. It's a great commute car and with the V6 I get very good mileage on the highway. We do normally taker our 7 seater SUV on highway travel long trips. I'd buy a new XT5, I've that happy with my current one.
$70,000 for a Cadillac version of the Chevy Trax??
It’s not even close to the trax lmao
My mom has one of these. However….it has had many problems with the rear main oil leak. It’s unfortunate cause it’s a nice driving vehicle for everyday use
If you love your mom you'll tell her to ditch that POS while you still can get some money for a overpriced vehicle
@@jmabs5096 it’s paid for. The leak was fixed. She comfortable with the vehicle
Sell it amd get a Toyota for her r Lexus.
There’s a pull on the back shoulder of the back seats the fan recline about an inch more
GM must be nuts. You can get much better for $70k
Cadillac has finally achieved what I have in my 07 Acura MDX.
Interesting. Only at 18:18 do you say how good the adaptive suspension is.
Need another inch.... She's told me that....
Joking aside, I don't think many Caddy owners will take theirs off road at all but with those temp issues that could be a problem.
I dig the brown but not the screen.
To me, its an equinox in a dress.
Like others have mentioned, price is the surprising factor given what this vehicle is and has. Maybe for the next generation they’ll step up to the 2.7 turbo, because I think that might be all it needs to be somewhat competitive at that price point.
Caddy is killing the XT5 from their line-up in ‘24 & replacing it with the LYRIC electric SUV.
Needs bfgko2
I definitely love the XT5 Sport, but not this reviewer! The things he is whining about is due to Cadillac not updating the XT5 because 2024 or 25 will be the last models offered before Cadillac discontinues it. It wouldn't make any sense to design a brand new dashboard to only be used for a handful of model years. It does suck that it's not like the new Escalade with it's huge 38" display.
Doh! You need a trail management crew full time out there when you are trying to get these CUV's to negotiate the course. You do a good 1 man stranded recovery tho. lol You have max trax with you and know how to shift some terrain around to help you out. So good deal. (not all presenters know the basics like you) This vehicle does not make my interest list. And not just because it fails in the trail. As you say, for that price point, there are a lot better choices for a luxury CUV for on road driving.
i find these clutch vectoring axles not enough to pull vehicles over rocks or from deeper holes, the ivtm4 was doing the same thing, the great for slippery roads, especially with Honda's additional accelerator for the rear wheels
I think some all terrain tires would have helped here. Wonder if they sell them in that size.
Are you going to Review the 911 Dakar?
I wish we could say yes... but Porsche hasn't reached out yet.
I love all the videos you do on your channel. My new lifetime aspiration is I’ll actually find any of them for sale within 200 miles of my home on a dealer lot at or below MSRP. None of these cars and trucks can be found in any meaningful quantity without being gouged somewhere in the sales process by the dealers. And it’s not unique to any brand.
Nice video 😊.
When will you make video on 2023 honda CRV hybrid?
Still waiting for it...
i thought the xt5 would be midsize,xt4 compact
Looks like a great option for the car
The only off road 99.9% of these vehicles will ever experience is a poorly plowed Neiman Marcus parking lot or maybe some loose gravel in the golf club parking lot.
AWD status display is obvious and in upper left of readout in front of you.
Yes, I think GM didn’t trick it out with interior lights etc, but besssst comfort of a drive, I don’t mind traffic AT ALL. Adaptive suspension and the auto increase in lighting in darker areas is so nice. My guess is you have never owned one.
Range Rover has the worst reliability and definite problematic future of issues. Tho it looks awesome, I would never buy that mess.
No one buys this xt5 to drive off road, lol!
This is my second one (well I owned my awesome srx for like 12 yrs!).
$32k all day in the real world 🌎
23:32 that is a pretty terrible situation to be in. Glad it was fairly short lived but still should have given a warning well before the point of disconnecting the rear.
xD when it went back into two wheel drive...
I’ll take brown over all black & grey interior any day.
$70G!? Good lord!
Isn't a Mercedes GLE about the same price? 4matic is way better
you forgot to mention the reclining seats in the rear passenger compartment..... if you use this feature ..... head room wouldn't be an issue.... Nice presentation but it seems you over emphasize the negatives but not the positives.... In my opinion .... you give impression that you just don't like this particular Car..... which of course is your prerogative ........
In regards to its AWD system, its far away from Subaru all symmetrical, and Suzuki all Grip system😎
FAIL on two fronts: Mechanically and price ($70K!!). A loaded RDX would due the job for thousands of dollars less.
70K?! There is no way. I’d easily get the Acura RDX over this. Cadillac and other brands relied on rebates to help make them cheaper. I’d really hope no one would actually pay 70K for this.
Maybe a step in the right direction following what brands like Mazda are doing with that balance of off-road and luxury but at that price point (even at 40k +) you’re in the price range of the brand new Sequoia and GX 460. Cadillac doesn’t have that good a name for that price hike.
Id get a MB 300GLC fully loaded and have 10k to throw in the garbage.
Way too much for this car
This is the definition of paying for the name
$70k? I almost choked. Can buy low mileage example for $35k-$40k.
A complete fail is an SUV especially as a $70,000 SUV.
Although quite a bit of that may have had to do with the pointless 100% Street tread tires on it?
But as it comes to the brown interior it's a lot more interesting and less blah than an all black interior. So sick of the cheap boring drab lamb dust and dirt showing all black interiors. That just roast in the summer. Hey Bill what do you think just do for the interior well we got a bunch of cheap a black plastic and some black spray paint and just a bunch of cheap black junk we can put inside. People will think it's a cheap lightweight plastic interior for a race car or something. Let's put that in. What's better spraying some cheap black paint all over everything and some cheap black plastic. Now we're making the big bucks 😅
And to put up with its inability to do some basic nasty road driving. The overheating, failing drive system and making it so "small" that "only small children" can fit in the backseat for $70,000 . Come on...
Cadillac has lost their way. They're supposed to be large comfy ride like a pillow over anything Roomy throw all your luggage in it and hit the highway with enough power and comfort to go all day. The great family going on vacation car to Disneyland or the beach too in "luxury" Now they want to make Cadillacs be little BMW things. Sporty "little" touring cars. Sure you don't want your car to handle badly or dangerously. But not everything needs to be a sporty car with sport handling. Sometimes you just want to relax and cruise and comfort and style. Maybe you don't want to be racing you're a sedan. They should have kept making Cadillacs "Cadillacs" and they could have turned the Pontiac line into their want to be BMW line. Now Cadillac is mostly just drab dreary, hot, dingy, boring, cheap all black interior cars,(that applies to too many cars made these days) that look uninspired boring and dark inside. Imagine that from all black 😅 yep jam should have kept their sporty intentions for Pontiac and Corvette, Camaro etc. Now the Cadillac sporting for sedan, reliability? Smooth comfortable ride roomy comfortable interior interesting and luxurious, competent off-road. Nope not really any of those things.
$70k 🤨🤨🤨
Folks at Cadillac understand that real mechanical instruments and a well-integrated not obnoxious center screen is luxury now. And brown is much nicer than faux carbon fiber or faux aluminum. A nice, tasteful interior.
At this price there's no excuses for all that's wrong... There
Cadillac isn’t lux like it used to be I don’t think.
That GM 3.6 always has a nice sound to it.
I like Cadillac I own a 2011 CTS. There is no way I would ever spend $70000 on a car that will lose $50000 in value in 2 years
1 XT5 = 2 RV4 :D
Did he say 70k? Bffr
First, its not brown, but actually tan, and a welcome change from the typical "sea of gray" in many of its competitors. Second, the rear seat headroom is abysmal. Third, a car at this price needs to have all the bells and whistles, and that means seats with thigh support. It also doesn't even have a height adjustable suspension.
There is far to much wheel spinning to be called off-road worthy. There was also no mention to whether it has hill decent which any car that offers an off-road mode must have. Finally, do the rear windows go all the way down?
Conclusion: Cadillac XT5 = FAIL.
Sea of gray? I’d love to find a gray interior anywhere. All I can find is depressing and stifling hot black interiors.
I've long thought the Caddy XT series is what the Buicks should be, and at Buick MSRP. While the Buicks are what the Chevys should be, at a Chevy MSRP.
Wow for that price I would get myself a nice Sequoia
The price is way too much for what someone gets with this.
For that money I am not buying a GM. Lexus, bmw, audi, or Mercedes maybe
70 grand for basically a equinox or terrain. This thing looka worse than the it's non luxury counterpart! Lol folks go with an actual luxury vehicle Acura or an Lexus, BMW audi etc.... If your paying 70k, atleast have something to show for it!
I rather have a Toyota Venza.
Junk. Stick with the Jeep compass or any other Jeep. Even Ford/Lincolns AWD systems are way better than GM's.
I preordered a 2023 HEV Kia Sportage that has far more features and way more space for almost half the price. This is an absolute dud for GM
If you drive red too long brown will eventually happen.
Now that Cadillac has some bragging rights where sports sedans are concerned, maybe they will direct some attention to its CUV segment. About the only distinguishing characteristic this Caddy has is its eyebrow-raising price. Perhaps GM employees will bite, but it's unlikely that many cross-shopping buyers will.
$70K!! Ouch, that's a bit much for a luxury Equinox!
Don't even have to watch the video to know this pos isn't made to go anywhere thats not paved roads and it costs to much and in 5 years will lost most of its value.
OVER PRICED
Again. Gravity.. what are you talking about .. no proof
Trail test of a vehicle like this is really pointless.
I rented it a few times. Terrible vehicle
xt5 is not an off road vehicle.
Shitty vehicle won't last as long as the Japanese.
Why don't you read about the vehicle because you review it. The indicator for 2 or 4 wheel drive is displayed on the bottom under the speedometer. It really helps your credibility, you know.
