    Absolutely Gorgeous. Your work is awesome. I like that you had icing problems and it broke often but you didn't cut that out of the filming. I gives hope to others who have problems.

    I have no words to express my admiration for this amazing work. I'm wondering how do you do to transport this piece of art to the venue.

    • @BobbieNoto
      @BobbieNoto  Před 8 lety

      +Fiore Fer Thank you Fiore! As far as safely transporting this cake:The cake board needs to be wider then the strings so they don't get bumped on the sides of box! As long as the strings are not touched and the cake is in a secure box the cake will be fine.

    I probably missed it in another video, but you went from marking the cake on the top and bottom, then when you turned it over it had the white dots on it. What are they? Icing? You didn't mention it.

    • @BobbieNoto
      @BobbieNoto  Před 8 lety

      The white beads are piped with royal icing to keep the string work from laying on the cake.

    This technique is so cool!! I'm just curious are u working on a dummy or real cake? If it's real cake how does it not start to fall apart or sag being upside down like that?

    • @BobbieNoto
      @BobbieNoto  Před 9 lety

      Sugarhousedesserts For the video I used a dummy cake due the hot lights. I did recreate the same cake design for Christmas, you need to use a heavier cake i.e Madeira cake.

    Hi, what consistency royal icing do you use, for small tips? Some people say firm peak others say soft peak, but then they also say soft peak breaks to easily and firm peak blocks small tips... do you have a recipe that will work for all types of stringwork and will you please share it? Thanks

    • @BobbieNoto
      @BobbieNoto  Před 9 lety

      Louise, I use a soft-peak consistency that had been rubbed down and strained through a knee high stocking.

    • @louisebooth7590
      @louisebooth7590 Před 9 lety

      Thank you. can you recommend a royal icing recipe suitable for stringwork? I found a recipe for royal icing that you make to soft peak consistency then add gum Arabic and glucose, does that sound ok? Here's the link: www.cakedesignsbyrobin.com/recipes.html

    • @BobbieNoto

      I wouldn't suggest piping the strings with American buttercream, however you could pipe the RI strings on a buttercream covered cake.

      I can give you a free recipe. You must use powder egg whites. NOT meringue powder. All you have to do is Google recipe for powder egg white royal icing. You add the powder to some water and let it soak overnight. Next day strain it in a fine mesh strainer and add liquid to your SIFTED powder sugar. Best of luck! :)... Also make sure to paddle a little frosting on counter with a small metal spatula to get out as many air bubbles as you can. And, use a tiny parchment bag and don't over fill bag.

    I have just a small question: how do you attatch the cake to the board? and what happens if don't attach it first?

    • @BobbieNoto
      @BobbieNoto  Před 8 lety

      +Belen Honrado I used royal icing to attach the board to the cake. The string work is very delicate and if you attach the board afterwards the strings are likely to break.
