“Police Apology Was Worse Than The Incident” | Officer Tells Man Being Openly Jewish Is Provocative

  • The Met Police apologised after an officer made remarks about the appearance of Gideon Falter, the leader of an antisemitism charity, who was wearing a skull-cap near a pro-Palestine march in London.
Falter was told his presence was causing a "breach of peace."
Scotland Yard first apologised for the officer's comment but later retracted their statement and issued another apology for causing offense.
The initial statement was criticised as victim-blaming and the Met clarified that "being Jewish is not a provocation" and apologised again.
Falter, the chief executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, stated he was not there to counter-protest but was walking after attending synagogue.
In a video, a police officer warned Falter of potential arrest, leading Falter to accuse the Met of creating "no-go zones" for Jewish people.
Peter Cardwell discusses the incident with former Conservative SPAD, Lauren McEvatt and Liberal Democrat activist, Matthew Hulbert.

It’s the hate mob comprised of many races and religions, that’s marching every week, costing tax payers millions every weekend.
Only a chin dribbling window licking moron couldn’t (or more likely intentionally for political/ideological reasons), see it or would attempt to blame a specific religion.
If they’re that concerned for the safety of individuals, some of the protestors have already broken law, decline the applications for any further protests.

He said he wanted to go that way to go home. So if you obviously think he is in danger just walking home you should have surrounded him and escorted him home. He should in no way be forced to wait until the protest ended to go home.
Also I know the British police don't traditionally carry guns but exactly how are they supposed to deal with a mob to protect themselves and anyone else? Do they have any weapons at all?

      What actually happened was this:
After several more exchanges, Mr Falter asked if it was because he was Jewish he was being stopped from crossing the road as it would "antagonise" the crowd.
The officer said: "You are quite obviously Jewish in appearance, you are outwardly demonstrating your faith."
He added: "You decided to walk out into the road... and deliberately walk against the flow of people.
"This is quite clearly a pro-Palestinian demonstration. My concern is that your behaviour changed.

The Mayor of London, the Chief of Police and any Officer that upholds the rights of Pro Hamas people (because that IS what they are) to shout "To the River..." etc etc, and not equally allow the opposite view - should be immediately sacked, and charged, if necessary. This time in history, with EVERYTHING that's going on, will be looked back on as a time in which a very loud, and blatently MEBTAL, minority, were able to hijacked every fundamental institution, to the detriment of us all 🤬

I am a dual-national, born in England, and am Israeli.
I could see the 'writing was on the wall' in England when in around 2014 during the protests then, I was walking around in Kensington, near the Israeli embassy, and there happened to be an angry mob yelling and screaming at the embassy building. I am visibly Jewish (I wear a kippa, etc). The police had cordoned off the road and anyone who wasn't part of the demo, me included, was told they had to go a different way and couldn't pass. When this was said to me by a police officer, I replied, "I'm not part of any protest, it's your job to keep me safe, I want to walk up the street to the station so I can go home. Arrest those who are making it unsafe for me to walk!". They told me they couldn't guarantee my safety, there were too many of them, and therefore I had to do what they said and walk an extremely circuitous route to the station or they would not let me pass.
It's got a lot worse since then, but as a qualified lawyer, I was pretty shocked to see the sad excuse for police policy that was evident on the streets that day.

It's modern policing 101. They've been doing it to Tommy Robinson for years. Instead of dealing with the actual problem it's far easier to remove the person who has an issue with the problem. The cop even said it out loud, there are too many of them for us to deal with.

Two tier policing. But why are these marches being allowed week after week. OK the right to protest but what about the wider publics right to have the police solving crimes instead of policing demonstrations.

There's no excuse. The police should anticipate EVERY scenario and know in advance how to handle it. And of course there's plenty of people on the march who should be questioned, detained. But no. Double standard policing.

This is beyond irrational. There were at least 7 police officers standing around listening to the exchange, doing absolutely nothing. The proper and just thing to do, when a citizen is perceived to be threatened by others, is for the police to provide an escort for that individual and ensure their safety. When the police perceive a potential victim of a crime to be a threat, and threaten a victim with committing a criminal offense, they are not enforcing the laws of the land. If 2 of the over half dozen police had provided the man with protection from the threat of a peaceful mob, and given him escort, we would not be having this discussion. If it had been done immediately it would have taken the same amount of time as the ensuing discussion on the crosswalk.
