Infiniti q50 top display (DCU) failure and solution (2014 2.2 diesel, Europe)

- After a navigation fail message the display did a reboot and got stuck. From there on it continiously started to reboot. Went to dealer, they dit a software check and told me the top screen (DCU) was dead.
Since it still started (in a reboot loop), the 360 camera as wel as the sound / heating did work I was sceptic about that conclusion. The repair would cost me € 3218,- exc. VAT!!! As crazy that price was I went out for a second hand on the internet and fixed a screen les than 15% of the price.
When I installed the screen I got the "ID mark secure" message (because dealer should have to reinstall the software for exactly my car). In the top screen is a SD card (not the nav sd card) so I thought let's give it a try and put the old DCU back with the SD card from the second hand DCU I Just bought. And surprise: my old DCU works totally fine with the other SD card . My conclusion is the DCU is not faulty but the software on the SD card! People with this error shouldn't get a New DCU and huge bill but a free new SD for the DCU as I think! @Infiniti fix your stuff!

Add: after the new installation I got the service message for oil etc. (Re)setting in the regular maintenance menu didn't work: I had to go to reset to factory settings in the "secret menu" and after that problem was solved. - Sport
I own a 2018 Q50. Had both screens go out on me. My DCU does not have the SD Card so I got an exact part match for my non working DCU off eBay and just swapped the whole unit over. Worked like a charm! Thank you!

Hope this helps & confirms video. I have a 2014 Hybrid S AWD in US. Screens went out during Bluetooth call & were suck in a constant re-start loop. Took to Infiniti dealer on 1-25-24 & was quoted $3200.00 to replace DCU (Absolutely ridiculous) . I removed my original unit & took pics of the model # sticker on back. I went to eBay & found a used DCU for $155.00. I removed the card & swapped into my original unit. My original unit came back on & is working great. As mentioned in another post, there are other videos that show how to disassemble (which is pretty easy) & connectors are color coded on back of DCU. I recommend taking your time to disassemble as the trim pieces that snap off are easy to break.

Where did you get the sd card
I have a issue where both screens are stuck on boot Infiniti logo and don’t go passed that so infinit is charging me 4200 fucking dollars to replace it and I cannot afford that shit at all

My issue was “all apps loading” was stuck. 283874HB0A is part number for upper screen. I have 2014. All I did was replace that card and everything works. I had to reset xm radio and lost seat memory but everything else works perfect now

No I tries with the good one but it does't work. It's probably because the different CID number of the sd cards. I tries to clone the cards but was not succesfull unfortunately. Maybe some IT professional can manage it.

You can find other videos from others on CZcams for taking out the DCU. It's a fast job.
The only SD card is available on the market is SD card with Nissan logo with Map data. Not for the system. Did you find p/n for the SD card inside module? I think we can't buy it separately
The Map data is for the navigation. The SD card inside the DCU is not separately buyable. You can buy a second hand DCU and extract the SD Card from this part.
So unfortunately I had to go to the dealership shit and get it done in my case it was the AV unit which is behind the DCU (top screen) these are known to short out. Hope this helps

I just wanna come here and say FUCKING THANKYOU I saw this video months ago but was to scared to fuck around with the part and if I broke them or something my issue was my display just kept re booting over and over and over costed me 200 for a diagnostic and they wanted me to pay 4500 FUCKING DOLLARS and the moment they said that I bought a spare screen from eBay for 100$ watched yt videos on how to remove the stuff after 2 hours I had the biggest smile on my face and relieve after 4 MONTHS WOTHOUT ANY MUSOC IN MY CAR which is a huge deal cuz I drive for a living so I cannot thankyou enough for this information and anyone reading this comment with the exact same issue don’t even bother taking it to the dealer ship by the part AND DO IT YOURSELF PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID

I have a 2014 Infiniti q50 3.7 premium awd , my bottom and top screen stay black but here and there the screen would turn on I’ll be able to hear radio control my drive mode but once I turn the car off it goes back to black screen… could this a issue with the DCU?
For me the failure was different: rebooting constantly. But might be worth to check if swapping sdcard makes a difference. Do your parking sensors work? Do you see the camera on your screen (when you have)?
Where do you get the replacement memory card from ?
I bought a seconde hand DCU and took it out of that one. Infiniti dealership didnt want to help me out with only an sdcard and you cannot copy the data to another new sdcard (for me it was not succesfull cause it's Linux etc, and probably you get even with a copy problems with the unique ID of every sdcard)

@@AJ-se9os it could be another sd card. There is also sd card slot for MAP data inside armrest box.
@@GR-bh5ql You can't buy just the SD card. You can buy a second hand working DCU ( you have to choose one within the same serie of DCU's) and use the SD card from this part.

I did buy a second hand working screen. I tried through dealership to get only a card but they don't do and are not willing to coöperate in that matter. The way it goes in life, all about production and making money instead of a real solution.

You mean the DCU of the Q50's? When It does the same as I mentioned SD card swap could do the trick.
Mine is doing the same in my 2015 Q50 and Infiniti told me $3500 also.This should really be a recall matter because my car only has 40k miles on it and only 5 years old. But, of course Infiniti wasn’t going for that. These cars are too expensive for these types of failures to happen. Could I just buy the SD card?
Dealer told me it was not possible, although I wonder if it isn't or if they are just not willing to take action. Fabric is "Denso". I bought a secondhanded DCU and only used that SD card in my old DCU
Insane, They should be taking to court and sue..any car with low milage should never have these issues, that should definitely be a dealer recall

You cannot, at least I tried with a image but didnt work for me. You need a second hand dcu for the sd card.

Yes I dit do some tests with the SD Card (I tested to copy the date to my old SD card). Unfortunately it doesn't work, probably because the SD card has a specific CID and the software doesn't comply to the other SC Card (CID). So even cloning didn't work.
I have the same issue no audio so if and I just took it to the dealer they said 4500 so I just need a top screen please someone respond
There are different versions, please pick one that matches your version

Yes there are different mode years of DCU, you can see a sticker on the back of the DCU with the serial/batch. Try to find the same batch to avoid problems.

I opened the display disappointed there is no memory card and then noticed I have a micro sd.
Can you buy the chip itself
My dealership said it is impossible to get only the card and didnt want to help me with that option. Also didnt want to give me contactinformation of the supplier.
Or does unplugging the chip and plugging it back up work ?

Where’s the fuse
It's not about any fuse, it's about the SD-card in the DCU. I didn't have problems with a fuse but with "software"
