Sure, he isn't Chris Harris, but I do notice a key difference between the CHM top gear and what Chris Harris and Rory Reid are showing: in CHM top gear you never saw the driver's faces during slides, you never really saw them making mistakes when they were 'reviewing' cars. Rory Reid is willing to show that he isn't a perfect driver, whilst Chris Harris often cuts to in-car cameras whilst he's drifting around. In CHM top gear you could never tell if there were stunt doubles doing all of the drifting, whilst with CH and RR you know that it is genuine.

This is great. This is the kind of segment that can make the new Top Gear actually "new" and relevant. Doing it for free online is just the icing on the cake. Or a mud pie, in this case!
These are just short clips, you're not seeing the whole episode. I.E. "not so great"

Well, Grand Tour was *never* a car show, and Top Gear hasn't been a car show for at least ten years. Or perhaps I should say that they're both car-related entertainment shows, but neither is really a "car show."
And I thought the last season (series) of Top Gear was actually pretty good, and parts of The Grand Tour felt stale and overly contrived (it being the first season of a new show, after all). Rory Reid and Chris Harris were standouts on Top Gear (especially on Extra Gear), and TGT severely misused "The American." Plusses and minuses on all sides.

Only watching TG today due to Rory, guy's the best, he's not trying to be other people or the old trios, but he is very good at expressing genuine emotion and being himself. Props up for Rory.
Loving the new Top Gear. I hope this is an example of what we can expect next season.
New Top Gear is finding its legs. Rory, Chris and Matt are great. You can't replicate the chemistry of CHM (or the cast of Friends, or, for that matter, I Love Lucy). Those kinds of things are rare and unique. But Chris, Matt and Rory love what they are doing and are genuine and vocal about it, and we get to share in their joy. That's, ultimately, what these shows are about...

I love watching Rory Reid because his passion in his profession is so clear to see, it warms my heart. He really is living the true spirit of motor journalism.

Just because a person who is paid to present high performance cars *likes* them, doesn't mean they are suited to the task. He put it in a ditch. 90% of housewives over 30 don't do that with their soccer-mom suv's. And yes, you could also put Hammond and the exploding jet-car wreck in the same category, but his was crosswinds and a front wheel blowout during afterburner, he had an excuse.
Looks like we got Mr. Perfect Driver over here. You ever drive a Nomad off road at speed? No? Well I'm sure you'll drive it absolutely perfectly your first time.

Can every CHM fanboy just leave Top Gear alone? Look, I love those three blokes as much as you do, I even liked the entire The Grand Tour; but disliking the hell out of these videos isn't going to bring them back to the BBC. Amazon is their new home. Go there instead.
What the new team are doing is refreshing Top Gear, and these new, fresh online content like Rory's gives me good faith in the next coming series. It doesn't hurt to have two automotive shows to look forward to!

I agree. We need to stop comparing. Although, BBC need to stop comparing first and make the new Top Gear something of it's own - like a proper car show. Once they stop trying to emulate CHM like they were in the first series it will be great. I still watch both though.
What sucks is BBC is trying to make the most out of what was actually famous in the first place because of the other three presenters. If it weren't for them you wouldn't be here in the first place.
Top Gear got famous thanks to the trio, now it's a brand. A brand which BBC only wants to make money out of. That's why they're literally doing whatever they can do to please people with what's left.
I'm tempted to dislike this video because of the ridiculously long, self-indulgent intro, not nostalgia over the dysfunctional trio.

I love these webseries. First Chris Harris who pretty much continued his CZcams channel through online Top Gear, although not on CZcams anymore, and now this. All good stuff. I can't wait to see the new series. And yes, I am saying that as a Clarkson fan.

I got to rip a Nomad through the mountains in North Carolina a year back. Only a half hour but it was amazing. One of these, if you have the woodlands, desert and or mud, is biblical.

The Nomad rear gets wishy washy way to easily! It almost takes the fun out of driving it with any passion. You are constantly correcting the spin and drifting!

I don't have a problem, but I've noticed some severe reactionary responses from Hilman panji firdaus, and a lot of other people here that assume anyone who liked top gear hates the new show. I haven't seen many posts about that, but almost every comment in a long string said why they have a problem. To quote: "simple, it's because of those fanboys". My, how tolerant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, UNLESS IT DISAGREES WITH MINE, is that how it's supposed to go? I'm fine with people liking the new grand tour, the new top gear, but assholes who openly taunt, insult, and threaten people simply because they express a preference... not a career change, not a change in religion, by god, but no. Just a frickin TV show. HOW stupid is that? Oh, wait, I forgot there's that ISIS thing. Please don't hunt me down and kill me, okay? It's just tv. I'll learn to read farsi, just don't kill me.

secondly, people are entitled by their opinion. and they are supposed to make a thorough comparative observation of both series, objectively. I don't blindly judge how TG was compared to TGT. but many people here do. I loathed how artificial evans in the show, and how fabricated the relationship between evans and le blanc was. I also praised the works done by jerremy, hamond and may. I love them, follow them for years.
Finally, you don't know me, other than my name and my color. i don't know you either. i do not judge you, and anyone by their race or skin. none of them matter to me. i believe many Grand Tour fans are actually more gear headed than me, in fact total enthusiasts. and when I missinterpretate them, i pledge my guilt. but I talk with them by thoughts. and that's what makes us human.
When Rory Reid got schooled on what revolutions per minute are. What a rev-limiter is. When to shift. And how to drive. I expected to hear "My god, that's a big parking brake!". I'm not a hater, I'm just bemused. He drove it like a vauxhall rental, and still ditched it. It's not unfamilarity with the vehicle, it's unfamiliarity with driving fast on unfamiliar terrain. Is he the new Captain Slow?
this is what the first season of the new top gear should have been like. if it was it would have been a huge success. bring on the next season

no helmets? love it! we don't have mountains in northern Indiana USA but we have plenty of mud. would love to see how fun that Nomad would be in my clay fields after a good rain... kids around here get stuck with 4Xs all the time... your scenery is much more interesting than cornfields...
